Thank youuuu @fieldsofdreamlesssolitude 🥰 This post got long on the og thread (check it out for some cool character analysis tho!). So, breaking this off for a new post here to save my homepage scroll lol
1. Last song I listened to:
The most jmart song to ever jmart, The Fire by Vincent Lima 🥹
2. Song on repeat:
I've been listening to a lot of Mon Rovîa lately (an Afro-Appalachian folk singer, one of my fave newly-found artists!). Damn These Forces has been on repeat a lot and I think about Jonathan Sims 😭
3. Characters most similar to me:
Ah. Jonathan Sims, my beloved. Never felt more seen in my specific childhood trauma and how it manifests in all the small, microaggressive ways in my life. That invisible, insidious kind of trauma that makes you relinquish agency in your own life. I relate to his temptation to self-destruction and his dogged tenacity, his depression and his convictions. He is my rock bottom dark fantasy and my catharsis, and he is everything to me.
The Tenth Doctor is the person I aspire to be. His empathy and his unrelenting love shaped who I am. Maybe more than someone similar to me, I guess Ten is the person I want to be real, so I could run away with him and find the courage to express who I am in a world I am so often afraid of.
And finally, Crowley represents the person I am to my soulmate, how we've never known a life without the other and spend our days pondering the mysteries of life together. Crowley's journey away from god is mine, not a dramatic break but "sauntering vaguely downward" to the person I am today.
Honorable mention to Douxie (Trollhunters) and Death (Sandman), my goth/emo/punk aesthetic inspirations. Even if Death comes from a franchise and an author I cannot support anymore, she represents the kind of wisdom, kindness, and hope I want to infuse in my life and stories.
4. First fandom:
First protofandom (pre-Internet/community): Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes. First online fandom (livejournal era): Hogan's Heroes. First modern fandom for me (tumblr era), against which I compare all subsequent fandoms: How to Train Your Dragon
5. Reading:
Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack, in preparation for the TMA tarot deck I'm drawing!
6. Country:
The one where Jonathan talked to Gerry Keay for the first time 😜
7. Meaning behind URL:
Shared this recently in another post, so just linking that here.
8. What shoes I would be:
Black Converse high-tops, or chunky black boots (I'm hoping to get my first pair of Dr Martens soon!)
9. Time I went to bed last night:
I might have been pushing 3 am, whoops. Got caught up talking with @fieldsofdreamlesssolitude about this video essay about the horrifying sexism on The Last of Us adaptation. Fun times 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠 (/sarc)
