"You’ve got scars from field hockey?" Raphael grinned, unable to help wondering exactly how bad she was at the sport. Hockey was a pretty rough, but (from what he had gathered) she hadn’t played it for awfully long. "I don’t blame you." He answered honestly, thinking over it for a moment before taking a seat a few stairs in front of Jaclyn, so that he could both easily face her and rest. "My head’s bad enough. I can’t imagine what it’d be like with another person tampering with the wiring in there." Raphael responded, figuring there was nothing wrong with being straightforward. Actually, if more people had been that way with him, life would probably make a whole lot more sense.
Raphael listened to her words, both agreeing with what she said and finding fault. ”You’re right. I don’t want to give someone that opportunity.” He nodded, biting at the inside of his cheek when he realized that was just what he had allowed to happen before ending up in Brookhaven. Raphael smiled sincerely at her last comment, looking her over earnestly. ”I’m tired of burning people.” He replied, dropping his gaze down to one of the stairs separating them. ”I wouldn’t want to hurt you.”
He was certain he wouldn’t bring any damage or harm to the book, and actually found himself wondering if he’d be able to read it the next time he was at the mercy of his anger. After all, reading wasn’t something he often enjoyed doing. Maybe going out of his way to escape reality through some other form of amusement would prove to benefit him in the end.
"When I get angry I sometimes black out. It’s like I see red and then… I’ve got bruised knuckles." Raphael explained, trying to relate to what the girl was saying, but knowing that there was really no way he could comprehend how it was having another person sharing your body. "Not that it’s really all that similar, of course. I can’t usually help my anger, but… I guess it could be argued that it’s still my fault. You, on the other hand, don’t choose to have Jaide." He added to excuse himself, looking to Jaclyn with astonishment. "You’re not making me tell you anything. It’s nice to talk to someone about this. I haven’t really discussed it with anyone before… Well, actually, there was someone, but you know… things don’t work out." Raphael shrugged, sliding his tongue over his teeth as he tried to recollect himself.
"I’m sure she’ll think about it." He said decisively, despite the lack of truth to his words. That wasn’t really something you could be sure of. It was like earlier when Jaclyn had made the comment about his mom. It was comforting, yes, but he still wasn’t entirely certain love was exactly what she had felt for her son. "And, no offense to you, but you’ve done an awful lot of talking since that initial impression, but guess what? I think you’re intriguing, and I can’t really say you’ve shared more than I want to know." Raphael paused, glancing back up to her from the stairs. "In fact, I might actually want to know more about you."
"Yes.. well they're like faded brusises that don't ever go away. See." Jaclyn reached up to pull down her sleeve, turning her shoulder towards him as she showed a part of her shoulder; yellowish circles spread across her shoulder like polkadots. Smiling softly, she turned back towards him; shrugging her sleeve back into place. "And that's my true life on why I don't pay sports." Shrugging, her eyes narrowed some as she looked around the grounds. "It can get tough, it has a lot to do with concentration; If I concentrate hard enough, I can keep her in for awhile but it gets exhausting." Jaclyn saw Jaide as a sister but sometimes fighting the will to be in her own body was sometimes.. too much.
"Giving someone that oppurtinity means that anyone can have that oppourtinty, no matter who they are." It was like showing your biggest weakness or flaw, you're letting yourself be an open book for the world. Jaclyn was hard to read, from what she was told. Jaide almost programed her body not to show her weaknesses, it was just easier that way. Smiling back at him, she just shrugged. "We all have our reasons." Letting her smile drop some, she let her fingers play with the hem of her shorts. "I know you wouldn't hurt me."
Reality was something Jaclyn caught herself doing far too much, whether it was letting Jaide taking control or reading. It was almost that reality was too much, it was something that made her head want to explode into a million pieces. She had hoped, almost secretly that it could help Raphael the way that it'd had helped her in the past. Maybe it could help his anger lessen but it seemed very unlikely to her, but she had to in some way have hope.
"That's how it is when Jaide decides to take over.. She has a lot more control than I do. It's like I'm falling asleep and then it's just like blacking out. I kinda just wake up in odd places or I wake up with a sticky note on my forehead." Jaclyn laughed then, remembering the first time she woke up with on her head; noticing the difference in their handwriting. Shaking her head then, she let her hands rest in her lap. "It's similar, I black out and you black out. Just for.. different reasons. Anger is caused by an outside source, so I argue that it isn't your fault. I can fight her off and keep her in, I've read that it's hard to keep an alter under control but it takes a lot of time and concentration that I don't have." Raising her eyebrows some, she ran her tongue over her bottom lip before spekaing. "I just hate making people feel uncomfortable, you know? But, I'm glad you're able to talk about it with a stranger. I see, not everything works out in the end." Jaclyn mumbled slightly, thinking about reminington and their home life.
"She wouldn't even look at me when I was leaving, she just kept her eyes on her stupid husband." Jaclyn could feel the anger boiling up in her thinking about that night, so many things that gone right and wrong that she wished she could go back and go about it a different way. Looking up slightly at him, she bit on her lip. "Intriguing.. I would say I'm more.. unstimulating to the brain. I talk about pointless things like why the sky is blue, books that no one has ever heard of and what type of food is good for the seasons. I'm filled with useless information, kinda like the internet." Meeting his gaze then, she smiled. "My favorite colors emerald, for starters."
