Though she knew there wasn’t really a ladybug in the corner of the room, she still looked, for the sake of playing along. “Yup, totally hallucinating, that settles it. I can’t take anything you say seriously now.” She teased, barely able to contain her laughter but somehow managing as she let her gaze fall on him again. “Definitely not the shitty Tim Burton ones. We don’t acknowledge them. It was just my favorite story as a kid. I wanted so badly to be Alice that I tried to find a rabbit hole to fall down, which I realize sounds awfully dramatic but whatever.” She laughed, chewing her bottom lip into her mouth because she couldn’t believe she’d just admitted that. “I bet you say that to all the girls to get their numbers.” She joked, before taking his phone and typing in her number real quick, and then handing it back
“Please, in your dreams, and if it does mean that, don’t go getting used to it.” She laughed, trying to hide her face once again before giving up on doing that entirely. “Nope, sorry, you’re cancelled.” She waved her hand as though shooing him away before grinning widely. “Actually, neither have I, I’ll be honest. She was just the first superhero woman who came to mind.”
“Wait, how do I know you’re not a hallucination?” he asked with a jokingly panicked expression, trying to make her laugh again; her smile was really pretty when she did. He placed a hand over his heart as she signed words he loved to see. “You get me. Have you seen the M-A-R-T-I-N S-H-O-R-T movie? It’s amazing.” He decided to tease her a bit. “Oh definitely. Guys too, works every time.” He was absolutely kidding; he wasn’t that kind of guy. He quickly sent her a message saying “Hey, it’s Shakespeare” before jutting out his bottom lip. “I’m not special?” he asked before he couldn’t keep the pout going and chuckled. He shrugged, expecting his cancellation but smiling as she was in the same state he was in. “Well, you’d need to be Wonder Woman to read one of my stories. Seriously, if it ever happens, be fucking honored.”
