PIPER MARSHALL & VASILI VRONSKY
Piper loved parties, especially ones with an open bar. She worked hard and played hard, and was arguably the more outgoing out of the two of them. She liked to think that she helped Jacob come out of his shell, but the truth was that he balanced out her out. It had also been her idea to grab some champagne and head to the roof to see the fireworks. It was all her fault and she couldn’t even do anything about her two worlds clashing when Vasili Vronsky walked in. She looked awkwardly at him, admittedly intimidated by who he was and what he represented but she also didn’t want him to meet Jacob. Having Vasili know they were friends didn’t seem like a good idea no matter how she looked at it. She never meant to get dragged into the Bratva and she certainly didn’t want to give them anymore ammo to keep her tied to them. She didn’t even realize the way Jacob moved between the two on purpose because they stopped moving. The jerk movement made her grab reach for the wall to steady herself as the lights went off and dim emergency ones came on. “What?” Piper chirped up, looking at Jacob a bit lost. “Yeah. Yup. Thanks.” The less she said, the better. Right? Ah shit.

He wants to make a comment when Jones inserts himself between himself and Marshall, but he doesn’t. Maybe he’s turning over a new leaf, but his comment stays unspoken in his mind as the elevator starts to move. But it’s not long before another comments slips past his lips. “Of fucking course,” he mutters with a mirthless grin under his breath when a light flickers, and he casts his eyes skywards for a moment. The entire elevator is now dark, save for the lights that illuminate the buttons on the panel, and he bristles as the compartment comes to an abrupt stop. His feigned amusement shifts quickly to an irritation, and Vasili moves towards the panel, pressing the emergency call button a few times, but to no avail. “Well, don’t just stand there looking stupid, see if you can get a signal and call someone,” he’s not directing it at anyone specifically, his own phone already in his hand but it’s fruitless, his signal bar showing the heart-sinking SOS. “I’m alright too, by the way, thanks for asking,” it’s sarcasm laced, his frustration growing.
@jacobjcnes
...
Jacob turns his head to look over at Vasili, his brows creasing together as a scoff leaves his lips. Digging into his back pocket, the male pulls out his phone and gasps dramatically. “What? No service in this powered off elevator... It’s a good thing I checked.” He shook his head, pushing it back into his back pocket as his tongue brushed along his lower lip. He turns himself to face Vasili as he tilts his head to the side with a low sarcastic chuckle. “Am I really supposed to stand here and pretend I care about your well being?” Everyone was fully aware of what the Vronskys were known for and the innocent bloodshed that happened because of them. At least that was the way he was raised, his father preaching stories about what side of Chicago were the villains and which ones were the players that were making the changes. He turns his head to look back at Piper, noticing some tension on her features but instead of saying anything out loud he keeps his dark hues on her as if silently trying to see what was wrong with her. Did she know who Vasili was? Was she scared? A part of him wants to reach out and let her know that he would do anything to protect her but nothing leaves his lips. Instead he tilts his head up to look at the little spot in the ceiling that would push up and get them out of there. “I think the best thing to do is wait until the power comes on. I don’t think the elevator is going to start falling to the ground.”
What if,,,,I ruined our friendship?? And we were lovers instead?? Ha Ha just kidding......unless...

PIPER MARSHALL
“Well isn’t it obvious? You never go on dates with anyone so she must be, at least pretty enough to get your attention. I swear that every time we go somewhere there are people staring at you but it’s like you’re blind or something. Y’know, I heard Costco has good deals on eye exams. If you need a membership, I have one. You can tag along.” She was only joking with him because she was trying to ignore the fact that all the stares he got always annoyed her. He was her friend. But then again, why did she suddenly feel possessive over him? People weren’t objects, Piper knew that. And yet, she wanted to keep her friendship with him all to herself. Piper finished with his collar and smoothed her hands down his chest, patting him twice before stepping away. “Not even sweet little ol’ Jacob Jones.” She let the corners of her lips upturn into a soft smile. “You heard me and I didn’t stutter, did I? Alright, let’s go.” She gave him a nod and reached for her jacket. The Fall wasn’t long and winter always hit Chicago all at once, making the nights frigid and the people bitter. Even if they were supposed to be extra grateful for Thanksgiving. She opened the door to his apartment and turned around, waiting for him with the doorknob caught in her hand. “Sounds like loads of fun.” Her tone fell flat but she couldn’t really help it. “Chop chop or you’ll be late.”
...
Jacob stared at Piper with confusion on his features although he knew she would never understand the reason he was taking this girl out on a date plus she was his best friend... There was no way he could ruin that. He cleared his throat as he nodded his head at her words. “Right, yeah... She’s alright.” He shrugged his shoulders as he tilted his head again with the confusion on his features when she explained to him that people stared at him when they went out. “What are you talking about? People don’t stare at me? People are always staring at you, Pipe!” He explained, thinking about all the times he had to not think about the gnawing ache in his stomach whenever he caught someone looking in her direction. He dropped his gaze down towards her hands smoothing down his chest and patting him. He brushed his tongue along his lower lip as he lifted his eyes up towards her again, a small grin coming along his features. “No ma’am. You didn’t stutter but don’t be shocked I show up at your door at two in the morning.” Which is exactly what happened when he got a little too drunk. He followed her out of the apartment, making sure to lock it behind them. He walked down the street with her, making small talk along the way until they got to his destination. “I’ll see you soon, Marshall.” He winked at her before he walked through the door of the bar to meet the girl that was meant to get his mind off the one he left standing on the sidewalk.

NYE PARTY January 1st w/ @pipermarshall ; @vasilivronsky
Jacob planned on remaining silent the entire elevator ride, the male had shifted between Vasili and Piper the second the Vronsky man crossed the threshold. It was only a few seconds, there was no need to start anything that couldn’t be finished. His tongue brushed along his lower lip as his shoulders tensed, his dark hues focusing on the elevator doors practically screaming at them to open up and get him the hell out of there but as the lights began to flicker, the elevator jerked and everything went dark was when the Jones male realized that things were about to get a lot more sticker. “Great, fucking great.” He muttered under his breath, shifting a little closer to Piper. “You alright?” @pipermarshall
NAOMI JONES
It was very nice to be spending time with Jacob like this again, smiles on display and jokes going back and forth. Naomi found herself trying to capture all these moments because for awhile they felt like a rarity. The siblings had developed so much distance over the years and clearly there was still more important and serious conversations to be had. For now though, she was relishing in the happiness of this night. “Oh c’mon why not Jay! You know I make a great first impression!” she laughed at his expression. “Besides you know all my friends!” she added, granted all her friends had been the same since they were kids mostly. Naomi nodded in confirmation at the deal. Standing to the side of him she crossed her arms and leaned against the booth. “How can I forget when I’m greeted with all those trophies anytime I step into the house!” she grinned but nodded once more. She watched proudly as Jacob knocked everything down with ease. “You made that look more simple than need be!” she nudged him as the attendant handed them a prize. “Alright let’s get some food!” she beamed. The duo went on to have a great time with more laughs and good eats and when they got pulled away by friends they promised to see each other again later. Naomi would be panicked and then thankful that they both were able to get out off the pier unscathed.

MELINDA HARRIS
Melinda didn’t think she was good at small talk or didn’t enjoy it to seek it out. She thrived on having conversations that had a point. Yet, there was an odd phenomenon where a casual conversation was easier when leaned against a bartop, settled in a stool, and surrounded by strangers, well at least for her. “Solid choice.” she smiled lightly looking at the small drink menu momentarily before closing it. “I think I’ll have an old fashioned.” It wasn’t her favourite but she was favouring something a bit different than her norm. “It always makes me feel like I’m in a movie or something.” she admitted as her hand raised to signal the bartender.
...
Jacob tapped his fingers against the side of his glass, nodding his head at her words. “I can say the same to you.” He told her as he brought his drink up to his lips to take a sip of it. He adjusted himself on the stool, leaning forward and resting his arms down against the surface. Turning his head to look over at the woman sitting next to him, a small smile came along his features. “We all have to do something to escape our real lives even for a second, right?”
NAOMI JONES
“Really! You know being humble is a better look!” she teased with a bit of a laugh, “At least that’s what I’m told!” she joked, if there was anything the Jones’ had in common it was their pride. Other’s labeled it a big ego but it had always been the norm to back yourself all the time in her upbringing. “Piper?” Naomi repeated trying to recall if this was a friend of Jacob’s from the past. Although she was gleeful at the mention that he wanted Piper to talk to his sister, “Well I’ll have to ask for myself!” She stopped walking as they approached the stand, miniature footballs lined up to be thrown through a particularly small hole, “If you can get me that—” she paused pointing at the stuffed elephant, “Then food on me!” she fished a few dollars and handed it to the attendant. “Show me what you got prime time!”
...
“I’ll keep that in mind,” the male chuckled as he walked next to her towards the stalls. He turned his head to look over towards his sister next to him. He knew there was a ton of things the two of them needed to pull off the plate between them. He had questions and he was more than sure she had her own questions but somehow he didn’t want to ruin the mood. It was the first time since she had come home where he didn’t feel the need to be too defensive (maybe it was the fact she was shot a few weeks ago). He wished he didn’t get to that point for him to even acknowledge the fact she was back but here he was doing his best to be better. “Yeah,” he furrowed his brows. “I -... That wasn’t an invitation for you to actually talk to her, Mi.” Using his nickname for her as he stopped in front of the stall with her, turning his head to look over towards the game, pressing his lips together. “Alright. Goods on you, huh?” He chuckled as he reached into his pocket, pulling out his wallet and opening it. He pulled out a few bills, tossing them onto the surface of the counter. He picked up one of the footballs, tossing it to the small hole and making it through. “You sure you want to keep that bet, big sis? You forget I was on the football team in high school.”
PIPER MARSHALL
Jacob Jones didn’t go on dates. At least not the Jacob she knew, so when had things changed and why did she care so much? Piper tried to shake the thought out of her head but she couldn’t fight the curiosity that kept popping in. “She must be really pretty.” Piper thought that he must really like that girl to agree toto a date. “Wow even cologne.” She teased, eyes dancing about the room as she followed his whereabouts. She had to admit that this was entertaining to watch and wondered if guys she dated in the past had ever put this much thought into their outfits before. Whoever got Jacob in the end would be a lucky person. Piper cocked her head to the side, “Hey the the shirt I got you for Christmas last year! I knew it’d look hot on you.” She smiled, happy with herself for the choice until he asked her to wait there for him. “You dog.” She rolled her eyes but pretended to be happy if he got to sleep with someone and have fun for once. “Oh,” Piper laughed, “No way in hell.” She smiled, hopping off the counter and walking over to him while simultaneously motioning for Jacob to approach her as well. Piper stepped up to him, pushing on her feet slightly so she could get closer to his level and fix his collar. “I don’t wait on anyone, sweet cheeks.” She tugged on his collar and patted it down, smoothing the fold so he looked presentable. “You’re gonna knock her socks off. Just spare me the details, okay? I can walk with you there. Where are you meeting her?”
...
Jacob lifted his eyes up towards her from his shirt as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Why do you think she’s really pretty?” He asked as he cleared his throat, raising his hands to fix the hem of his shirt as he nodded his head. “Yeah,” he laughed. “It’s not the first time I’ve warn this shirt.” He smiled as he let his eyes focus on the woman in front of him, trying to focus on his breathing and not choking on his own spit at the fact she told him he looked hot in the shirt she bought for him. He brushed his tongue along his lower lip, glancing down to look at her when she walked over to fix his shirt. “Not even sweet little ol’ me?” He teased. “You want to walk me to my date?” He smirked. “We’re meeting on the pier. They set up the Thanksgiving carnival this weekend so... I thought why the hell not?”
