CD Release Party at Blues Alley
昨日の夜のライブは日本に来て一番楽しかったライブといっても過言ではないです。第一にBlues Alleyは最高のジャズクラブです。間取りは生音楽にぴったり合っているし音も凄く良いです。お店に置いてあるスタインウエイグランドピアノは凄く弾きやすかったです。そしてコンディションの良いフェンダーローズも置いてありました。ほとんどピアノを弾いたのですが、２曲をローズで弾きました。
第二に１００人以上が来て、満席状態でした。観客からのエネルギーにインスピレーションを受けて僕の最高のプレーが出来ました。絶対家でそんな風にピアノを弾けません。
第三にバンドメンバーやゲストミュージシャンは最高でした。いつものベースの高道晴久やドラムの二本末義史とライブするたびに楽しいライブになるに違いないのですが、昨日の夜プロデューサーでありギターリストでもある大里和雄もいました。素敵なバンドと演奏する上に素晴らしいゲストミュージシャンの４人もいました；樹里からん、Mitsuko, 島裕介や畠山美由紀。ゲストは皆別々に出演したのですが、最後の曲に皆で『Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas』を演奏しました。凄く良い終わり方でした。
演奏が終わったらCDをたくさんサインして、たくさんのファンを挨拶しました。参加してくれたミュージシャンや手伝ってくれたスタフにとても感謝しています。そしてライブに来てくれたお客さんにもとても感謝しています。
Yesterday’s show at Blues Alley was probably the most fun I’ve had at a show since coming to Japan. First off Blues Alley is a great jazz club to play at. The layout is ideal for live music and the sound is amazing. They have a very nice Steinway grand piano as well as a Fender Rhodes in perfect condition.
Secondly the place was packed with over 100 people. The energy I got from the audience last night inspired me to play my best. There’s now way I can play like that at home by myself.
Thirdly the lineup of musicians and guests was amazing. Anytime I get to work with my regular trio with Yoshifumi Nihonmatsu on drums and Haruhisa Takamichi on bass I know it’s going to be a fun gig. But last night I also got to work with producer and guitarist Kazuo Ohsato on guitar who added a very nice element to the band. On top of the great band I got to work with 4 different amazing guest musicians; Julee Karan, Mitsuko, Yusuke Shima and Miyuki Hatakeyama.
After the show I signed a bunch of CD’S and got to greet a lot of fans. I am really grateful to all the musicians who participated as well as all the staff who helped put on a great show. I am also very grateful for everyone who came up to my show on Tuesday night.
