Clothes and Dances || Jacob + Esme
She smirked in the darkness of the wardrobe, barking a laugh. “He probably does, but don’t tell him I said so.” Andy was one of those mischievous people who stopped at nothing to stir trouble, he was the reason why she had managed to achieve so many detentions over the past few years. Sneaking out to apparate to clubs in London, hexing other students so that they grew toes on their foreheads, bewitching snowballs and pixies to follow students around annoying them out of their dull minds, terrifying first years with scary stories, all activities that Esme and Andy had schemed and brought to life.
Not that Jacob would ever find out about that, of course. Esme and Andy were two evil peas in a pod, Jacob brought out her lighter side. And that’s the only side she intended him to completely know.
Letting out an impatient sigh she jumped out, and was taken back with how lovely Jacob looked. “Wow…” She muttered, her brows raised. Esme walked around him, inspecting every inch, pulling the back of his jacket down so it remained straight, fixing up his tie. “Well, you look great if I do say so myself. Now, get your dancing shoes on. I’m going to make sure you can dance, chop chop!”
The thought of dancing close to Jacob made her cheeks tinge pink and her stomach quiver, but she told herself to stop being stupid, and to get her act together. Esme had to squash those feelings, and fast.
Jacob's forehead creased in confusion on what Esme was talking about Andy. She mentioned once that they were close and he remembered asking if the guy was somewhat special and more than a friend but she immediately said he wasn't but Jacob is somehow thinking twice now if she was being honest.
He made a mental note to gather information about the guy and ask the Gryffindor prefects if they had caught Andy doing mischief or any other unpleasing actions. Before he can even call out to her that he's done as he put on his jacket to complete the look, the girl jumped out of the closet. He stood by the mirror knowing he looked good but Esme circling around him as if inspecting or looking for a flaw left him a little queasy.
He gave out a sigh as she finally approved but then her next words made him look at her with frantic eyes. "You were serious about that? I thought you were just joking." Jacob told the girl but went to his closet not noticing the girl blushing. He picked out a black leather loafers that will go well with his formal wear. Slipping it on and testing if he can stand and walk on it comfortably, he walked back towards Esme. "Ready to be my first dance, mademoiselle?" He asked her with mirth. Jacob was an excellent dancer and the thought that Esme believed him when he was just being modest about his skills made him amused deep inside.
A night to remember || Jacob + Dana
Dana couldn’t help but smile at the handsome male stood in front of her. He sure was pretty and she felt awfully special for being his date to the ball. She knew how high in demand he was and she knew she’d probably end up losing him for a couple of dances during the night, well that’s what she’d heard from the many girls who’d come up to her and told her she didn’t deserve to be going with him. But she didn’t mind losing him because she knew that he’d accepted her invitation and only her invitation and that’s what truly mattered, not who he would be dancing with.
“You’re sweet Jacob. But it was a definite disaster, it was all up and I spent hours trying to make it all perfect, but when I put my dress on, it all went funny. So I had to take it out. But thank you, you don’t look so bad yourself. You don’t half scrub up well.” She smiled at him, he was always so elegantly dressed but the suit that he was wearing just blew everything else he’d ever worn out of the window. She blushed slightly as he locked his arm with her own, looking down she picked up her dress and she managed to maneuver gracefully without falling over.
“I’ve been good. How have you been?” She asked, she knew he was probably on about the gossip that had been surrounding the pair of them and Jacobs other relationships, but she didn’t really pay much attention to it. “It’s fine. You didn’t know that everybody was going to say terrible things about me. I’ve just kind of gotten used to it.” She shrugged her shoulders and looked him in the eyes.
"Well, I like it better that way." He told her without an ounce of false flattery. It was the truth and when it is, Jacob makes it a point to be generous on giving compliments. It also helped that he knew that unlike other people, a good ego boost won't get to Dana's head. He smiled back at her and noticed the blush creeping on her face that makes her all the more endearing.
"I'm okay, it's just you I worry about. I've been used to it for years." He told her as they finally arrived in the front of the Great Hall, the music already filling the air. Jacob led her and they were soon inside among the other students busily chatting and dancing the night away. "But I know you aren't, that's why I was really concerned on how you're holding up about all of it. You just need to tell honestly what you're feeling alright?" He continued.
There were round tables and chairs set up at the side of the Great Hall for those who aren't too keen to jump on the dance floor right away and that's where he lead Dana, afterall they agreed they needed to talk tonight. As soon, as they took a seat, refreshments appeared on the table and he took his waiting for Dana to pick hers so they can have a toast.
How the night will shape up he has no idea, he looked around already noticing a few people from his house and other students from different year. He was trying to gauge how he's feeling at the moment but with Dana sitting there with her big brown eyes, Jacob can't concentrate on nothing but her and making sure she's feeling okay with everything that has something to do with him.
Clothes and Dances || Jacob + Esme
When he mentioned that she should have aimed towards being Head Girl she laughed, long and loud, then popped her head around the edge of the closet door. “Why are you so funny?” She asked sarcastically. “I would have to give myself detentions half of the time.” Esme then ducked back in, clothes flying out, until she finally hit the back wall with her head. “Ow!” Came her muffled voice, and she stumbled back out, rubbing her forehead. “Why do I always hit my head?” She grumbled, a coat-hanger hanging off her shoulder, and her hair all mussed up.
His next question made her blush, and she looked around, wondering where she should go. The curtains were too thin, going back in and out of the room was too much effort. “Umm…” Esme thought hard, and then the easiest option popped into her head. Of course! “Aha! I can hide in the closet, easy peasy. Come on Cinnamon, this is no sight for your young eyes either!” She clicked her fingers and the cat came running, bounding into her open arms.
She slipped inside the wardrobe and made sure the doors were closed. Now it was pretty much empty except for a few school robes and bits and bobs. Finding a pair of his shoes she slipped them on over her socks and smirked at how much too big they were for her tiny feet. She leaned against the right inside-wall and tapped her feet on the wood, the over-sized shoes echoing inside the wardrobe. “So, have you met Andy yet?” She called, hoping her would hear her. “Has he earned a detention already?”
He chuckled clearly amused at what she said about giving herself a detention. It was true, since Jacob had been a prefect, he probably given hundreds or more detentions to the red head. The grin grew wider as she yelped about hitting her head. As she looked at him with hair mussed up and buried deep in his closet, he can't help but find her utterly adorable.
Jacob was about to protest that she doesn't have to hide in his closet and that she can just simply turn around and promise not to peek but she was already gathering Cinnamon into her arms and closing the closet doors that he didn't stop her anymore. Turning his back to the closet, he started to undress and put on a certain blue shirt with a black slacks. He swiftly buttoned and zipped up everything wondering what she was doing inside his closet.
He was buttoning the cuff of his shirt when she asked about someone in her muffled voice. "Andy? The Gryffindor? Of course, I've met him. He's a seventh year like us right?" He frowned remembering nothing special about the guy. "What about him? Does he deserve one?" He asked clearly clueless why the guy was a subject on their conversation at the moment.
A night to remember || Jacob + Dana
Dana was frantic. Running around her dorm she knew she was going to be late. She knew that Jacob would probably be early or on time, which made her even more nervous. Why was it the only dance she had decided to attend was the girls choice dance? She didn’t even know how she’d had the guts to ask Jacob, normally she was the shy away from public contact type, but she’d known if she ever wanted the chance to date Jacob than she’d have to pluck up the courage and just ask him. Which she did and luckily for her, he accepted.
Looking at her hair in the mirror she smiled and cautiously pulled on her dress trying not to ruin the pristine hairstyle currently perched on the top of her head. Once her dress was perfectly in place she looked up at her hair. Seeing that it was ruined she let out a small groan. Great, she was going to be even later. She seriously needed to sort out her time keeping skills. Pulling out the hair pins she let her hair cascade down her back in slight curls, knowing there wasn’t time to do anything with it, she sighed and left it.
Stepping into her shoes she smiled, finally everything was perfect. She wrapped her shawl around her shoulders and picked up her bag. She quickly walked down from the Ravenclaw tower and smiled slightly as she saw her date stood at the bottom of the stairs. “Hey. I’m sorry I’m late, I had a slight hair disaster.” She stopped at the bottom of the stairs and took a deep breath.
As he looked up at the voice that disturbed him from his thoughts, Jacob held his breath. She was stunning. He straightened up from leaning from the staircase's hand rail and smiled at the girl. What's nice about Dana is she doesn't know the effect she has on men which makes Jacob attracted to her all the more. Unlike some of the girls in the castle who flaunt their beauty, Dana, on the other hand seem unaware that she possess it. "Hair disaster? I think it looks perfect, you look magnificent." He smiled and told her sincerely as he held out his hand for her to hold on to as she take the last steps on the stairs.
The girl look great on her long black gown which compliments his own suit, something that Esme helped him pick. Her hair which she said had underwent a disaster looks perfect cascading in soft curls behind her back which makes her all the more naturally beautiful. Locking her arms with his, he led her towards the Great Hall still feeling a little nervous about the night that will take place.
"So, how are you these past few days?" He asked the Ravenclaw. Jacob knew the school has been full of gossips lately and he can't help but blame himself for putting Dana in such a position of being talked about as well. "You okay with everything? I'm really sorry if I'm dragging your name in those silly rumors floating around about me." He said as he looked at her brown eyes with his blue ones.
Cinnamon as he watches Esme and I...
Clothes and Dances || Jacob + Esme
Esme waltzed in, eyes wide at the sight of a private room in Hogwarts. “You have no idea how lucky you are, seriously.” She said, shaking her head, as Cinnamon scrambled out of her arms and ran into Jacob’s leg. She giggled at the cat and walked to the closet, looking at his clothes, her arms folded. “Well, you certainly have plenty of suits.” Esme commented, nodding her approval.
Then mention of Dana made her throat constrict, but she forced herself to relax and continue as normal. Dana was a nice girl, and Jacob was a nice guy, they made a perfect pair. Esme was more suited for someone like Andy anyway, she believed, and she wanted to hear what Jacob thought of her long-time best friend.
“You won’t pale in comparison, you twerp.” Esme said with a roll of her eyes. “You’ll look lovely and dapper, I promise you.” After rummaging through the closet a little, she threw a few combinations onto the bed, one black tux, a silver tie, a deep blue tie, and another black tux, but the jacket was styled differently. “Mix and match away, I’m just throwing out things that I like.” She called from the depths of the closet. “Maybe we can find Narnia back here!” Esme laughed, remembering the muggle book that her parents used to read to her before all the drama happened. “You have heard of Narnia, right? From the muggle book series?”
"Well you should have aspired to be the Head Girl and you could have one of these." He told her with a smirk. The girl was intelligent enough, the only problem was her thing about responsibility and mischief. Jacob crouched down to take Cinnamon on his arms and petted the kitten as he followed Esme to the closet. "Yeah, blame my mother. She's so eager in buying me clothes that will make me look like a gentleman or so she says."
Looking at Esme's expression, Jacob thought she probably changed her mind about her feelings about him as she seems unaffected about Dana already. It somehow saddens him but he didn't let it show. Whatever he needed to do about their relationship has to wait until he'd finished repairing everything with Dana anyway.
Jacob chuckled as she rolled her eyes at him. "Lovely and dapper, as if I've been anything but less than that." He joked and watched amusedly as his clothes came flying from his closet to the bed. Then suddenly he realized he'd have to change clothes. He cleared his throat as the girl seem to be really into digging in his closet. "Well, yeah...but Esme...do you want me to change here?" Changing in his room was never a problem with him before as again he was always alone, but this time there's someone else and not just someone, but a girl, and it was Esme.
A night to remember || Jacob + Dana
Jacob felt nervous. Out of all the dances and balls he had attended since he came to study in Hogwarts, this one seems to be the most tedious and well dramatic in a way. He finally has a date for the first time unlike the past years that he and Matt just decided to go stag and dance with those who wanted to, at least no breaking of hearts and no disappointing anyone.
Unfortunately, this time, they have to be with someone and he should really be happy because he's going with a girl that he had been interested in for some time. Dana was great, she'd been a fun and lovely companion ever since that day that Jacob decided it's time to finally test the water and date someone. But as luck will have it, as soon as he tried a realization washed over him, leaving him in a kind of dilemma between a girl he always had a crush on and the girl he never thought he was in love with.
Fixing the last button on his shirt and donning his coat, he checked his appearance in the mirror and decided it's finally time to face the music. He has a weird feeling about the night. He wanted to make everything right but how he will do that he has no idea. Exiting the dungeons, he made his way to the stairs leading to the Ravenclaw tower and waited for his date.
Clothes and Dances || Jacob + Esme
He rummaged through his closet once again looking for the perfect attire for the upcoming ball but to no avail. Good thing, he came across Esme earlier and mumbled his woes regarding the need to find the outfit suited for the event. She gladly volunteered in helping him out and even told him she'll help him practice his dance moves. Something that made them laugh, it was nice that they're back to normal, laughing at things and helping each other out.
Soon enough, he heard the soft knock on his door and there she was standing with the kitten softly cuddle on her chest as Jacob opened it. He gave her a smile and motioned for her to go inside. "Well...go and make yourself at home." He said as he ushered her in his private room, a perk that comes being the Head Boy. No noisy dorm for Jacob since the start of his 7th year and it was great. The feeling that they're somewhere alone suddenly made Jacob a bit conscious but he tried to fight it off. "So, here is my closet and I don't really know what to wear...I mean...I'm sure..." He trailed off not knowing if he should mention Dana or not but he decided that he might as well. "I mean Dana will surely be so fashionable like always, I don't want to pale in comparison. I want to be a suitable date you know?" Jacob said a bit hesitantly.
Finding clothes to wear is so hard.
You have to let me give you a dancing lesson. You said so yourself that you weren’t the best dancer, so I, with my generous heart, am forcing you into offering you lessons.
That's a good one, Red. You're very generous. Fine, once we picked out the perfect clothes for me, we can practice dancing. I'm pretty sure my dance teacher will be very disappointed in me.
Finding clothes to wear is so hard.
Oh, I guess I could.
But you owe me something in return.
And what will that be?
Finding clothes to wear is so hard.
But you would have questioned it if I wasn’t? I’m hurt Jacob!
Darling, don't be too sensitive. Come on, ready to go to my room to pick which I have to wear for that so-called ball?
Finding clothes to wear is so hard.
Well, I am pretty fashionable.
Well, if you're always in that dress I wouldn't even question it.
