Ok, let the journey of Fool begin⌠Finally Ive got a new deck from Lo Scarabeo - âBefore Tarotâ. 78 pictures will tell you what has happened before the situations from original RWS deck. Some cards are amazing but some⌠I just donât get the concept. But today is dedicated to Fool and his journey, so letâs switch into the cards.
From left to right we can see the beginning of the Foolâs journey in various decks (Before Tarot, Dame Fortuneâs Wheel Tarot, RWS Original, The Hermetic Tarot, Tarot Etteilla, Golden Universal Tarot and After Tarot). But what that card does mean to me?
Of course, the beginning. The happy time. Great holidays. Kindergarten, school. (Skipping school). Reminder (like walk your dog!). Signal, that you need to spend some time around the nature or the animals. Or simply you need to take a break. Try to do something new. Eat somewhere else. Ask your friend out. Donât be afraid to try again. Fool â is it always that positive?
Nope. Iâve never found it positive when I did the spread about relationship and Fool was the Significator Card for one part of relationship. Or if I pulled that card out for feelings position for other person (when it was a long-term relationship). For me, it always meant that one person is acting immature and doesnât want to take responsibility for the consequences of their words or actions. Ok, I expressed myself wrong. They donât know theyâre obligated to take some responsibility as a mature person. Iâm not saying that acting like a child isnât always bad thing. But when weâre looking for somebody to lean on not only in nice, balmy and no-problems days, but also in the real life, thatâs not a good choice. The Fool can hurt you by his frivolous attitude and careless handling of other people feelings or emotions. Heâs not a bad person, so donât try to yell at him and to explain that he hurt you crying out. He doesnât get it and probably he wonât âtill the cows come home, you know? One more thing â the Fool shouldnât be instructed by your advices. He hates jawing. Heâs like a Peter Pan, you know? If youâre gonna try to tie him down, well⌠Wendy, he wonât stay beside you and his character will fade away into the Tinker Bellâs fairy tale.
And what about your perception of the Fool?
But of course the meaning of the card depends on context and the decks which ure using. In the RWS and post-Rider Waiteâs Decks I thing that is the common meaning. But when you preffer working with Thoth or post-Thot (or with the some of âmodern-stylishâ decks) well⌠the thing is getting more complicated.
