It had been over a week since Melanie had seen Jason and now she and Claudine had finally moved back into the house they shared together. Though he wasn’t there, which was something Melanie was thankful for. She’d contacted Martin in that time, she didn’t want him to represent her, but she wanted his firm to handle her divorce. If they were good enough for her clients, they were definitely good enough for her.
Now that she’d contacted Marty though, she figured it was probably time to break the news to her closest friend. She’d known Angeline for 20 years at this point, as long as she’d been married to Jason, a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by the woman. She couldn’t help but find it all a little bit funny, now.
She’d asked the blonde actress over for dinner, though Melanie couldn’t really cook so food had been ordered in. She wondered which would arrive first, Angeline or the food. Melanie, for once, hoped the food. She was already two wine glasses into the evening and if she had anymore before the food arrived, she was afraid she’d spill more to Angeline than she really wanted.
A knock resounded against the front door and Melanie sighed, pushing up off the couch and making her way through the house. Wine glass still in hand, she pulled open the door, grinning at the sight of her best friend. “Angie!” She greeted, opening the door wider. “I’m glad you could come. It feels like it’s been forever,” Melanie told her with a soft smile. Melanie wasn’t upset, but there was still a sadness over the whole situation.
it had been a little while since angeline caught up with melanie last, and she was well aware that things weren’t going so good in mel’s relationship with jason, though, she hadn’t heard anything else for a few weeks. she had decided she wanted to give her friend some space, because she knew what it was like going through a difficult patch in a marriage, and having time to just breathe was important.
knocking on the door, bottle of wine in hand, the blonde’s lips curved into a smile when melanie opened the door. “hi, mel!” she greeted happily as she stepped inside, pulling the woman in for a hug, making sure not to bump the wine glass that was in the other’s hand. “it really has, hasn’t it? schedules can be a bitch sometimes... but how are you?”
