There is nothing heavier than the weight of emptiness. People tend to wish away their sadness or strive for numbness. But the truth is that emptiness eats away at you. When you’re sad, you know it will pass, eventually your body gets tired of being sad and you can enjoy a smile or even a good laugh. But emptiness is permanent. It’s almost as if you’re born with a certain amount of emotions, and once they’ve all been used up, there is simply nothing left. Emptiness is the ultimate rock bottom from which there is no ladder, no escape.
