2026 vs 2022, Ka’harja and Stars (+ LD from 2025)
Cos I’m starting on book 3 I get to do a new character height ref, and I figured rather than trying to keep them close to how I used to draw them I could lean heavier into my new style’s elements ☺️ They’re a year older in the new art and as such Ka’harja is getting taller, his nephew is getting big, and his sister is pregnant again.
The midpoint of rendering multiple characters, when one character is detailed and the other isn't, always makes me chuckle
Rough headshot concepts for the MCs for the sapphic book I’ve been handwriting; Sheena, the selkie, and Melanie, the mermaid. Things keep HAPPENING to them. But they do get to meet a lesbian werewolf bounty hunter & her fey-cursed ex-girlfriend (also a bounty hunter) & watch them fumble each other 400 times. So that’s fun.
Hair is extra rough, I can probably do a better job but I had 5 minutes to bang these on the page before having to head out so, they are what they are.
Still chipping away at this redraw lmao. I love doing it different every time but especially when it’s compared to the original! 16 years makes sooo much difference!

Oh yeah I had another crack at this yesterday & figured out what was bothering me. MUCH happier with how it looks now! Also did some more on cleaning up the characters, especially little Centy :)

I realise I always hide my notes before sharing a design WIP so like, if anyone is interested in what my canvases usually look like before I start a ref, this is it. This all stays ON while I sketch 😂 usually I have more visual refs as well but cos this was a redesign I didn’t need as many images.
Actually losing my mind. This is so funny. I broke this model somehow and every time I exported it, several of the faces disappeared. Today I attempted to fix it, and somehow..... It now exports EVEN WORSE.
