My friend and I were antiquing today and found these amazing mini-sculptures from the original Star Trek movies! This one appears to be from The Search for Spock, as it has the Excelsior and an exploding Klingon Warbird.

What she says: I'm fine.

What she means: Nurse Christine Chapel was in as many Star Trek episodes as Chekov and even had an entire episode devoted to her background and how she wound up on the Enterprise. She was an interesting character with a bunch of hilarious lines and appears in several photo shoots with the other major seven characters, but for some reason no one ever considers her part of the main crew. The fact that she isn't considered a main character but Chekov is is likely the result of the overvaluation of male characters and the undervaluation of female characters. Christine Chapel is part of the main crew and I'm so pissed that she isn't included in very many space family posts.

On why Shatner always spoke his lines as Jim Kirk in an ‘interesting’ manner aka “I speak and breathe in pentameter”:

SHATNER: I had worked in Shakespeare for several years. There’d be a speech in which the character expresses himself or what he plans to do or what was done to him. The speech would be meaningful in terms of the character and the plot, but it would take a hunk. I had learned to speak iambic pentameter, and try and do – I’ve forgotten how many lines – on a breath, so that you would say these words trippingly on the tongue and with a rhythm and then come to the operative word and pause a moment, so that there was a little drama there, and then continue on. That’s the way I approach these things.
