Forever crystallized into the collective pop consciousness with Madonna’s namesake hit single, “vogueing” has become an increasingly popular subculture that attracts people from all walks of life, all around the world.
And for the past eighteen months, photographer Ewen Spencer has buried himself in the oft-spectacular, sometimes-outlandish, always ultra-vibrant youth subculture that is the European Vogue scene. Now, the limited-edition book “Come, Bring, Punish” will be the culmination of his photographic exploration.
This year I made my very first alter for Día de los Muertos in honor of mi suegro. His death was slow and painful for him and his family. We were so very lucky to have the chance to say goodbye and be with him during his final days. On the alter we left him a bottle of his favorite whiskey and poured him a shot. This alter also honors our grandparents, a friend's father, and a beloved pet of a friend who passed this year doing what she loved, chasing birds in the blistering heat in the Texas hill country.
