reminder that this is still all through lestat’s eyes so no, that was not the REAL claudia. what we saw was lestat’s experience of her ghost and her rage. i do, however, feel like that was a much closer representation of who she likely was than louis’ version simply because lestat saw and loved her for the beautiful, vicious monster she was and louis denied her that acceptance. i don’t think we will ever see who she was without being filtered through someone else and that’s part of her tragedy.

i’m not saying this to deny her words, but rather to dispel the belief that it was fully 100% authentically her. i loved loved loved her rage and i want more actually, don’t misunderstand.

i feel like a lot of people don’t understand that Claudia’s defining trait as a character is the fact that she is a memory. she is a concept. i keep seeing people complain that “she was out of character in the seance scene” or that “she would never say that.” but you don’t know what she would say!! everything we know about Claudia is someone else’s interpretation of who she is—INCLUDING the seance scene, which is still in lestat’s perspective. even on the rare occasion when she does speak for herself, we’re still seeing her through someone else’s eyes. we will never know Claudia’s version of the story because she is dead.
