there’s a whole glass half empty vs full thing happening here where i and i guess some people like me see the ending as building something NEW and BETTER for the sake of everyone and the future and others see it as complete destruction and giving up and losing the purpose of anything existing at all. and i find that so strange. i think it’s the grief clouding the message: the message being that a better world is possible, and that maybe you won’t get your happy ending but you can guarantee a happy ending for those who come after you. but that message IS there. the grief can coexist with it.
