I just wanted all of you to know what my kitties look like. They’re what keep me going every day. That’s Thomas looking out the window, Sophia sleeping atop the couch, Baby below her, and Minnah on the heating pad. Because the internet can never have enough pictures of beautiful kitties. And they each have their own story.
Thomas was bought by a rich family with children who wanted a kitten. They dressed him up in doll clothes and pushed him around in a carriage. But at night he was locked in the basement and had to sleep on the cold cement floor. He didn’t even have a window to look out of. And they even had him de-clawed. My mother cleaned this family’s home and she did her best to smother him with love whenever she visited once a week. When the parents divorced neither wanted the now kitten turned cat so my mother offered to take him. He now lives a wonderful life full of open windows and soft pillows to sleep on.
Sophia belonged to a house the next street over. She had a litter of kittens before she was fixed. She was terrified of the dogs the people also owned so she often ran away. She found our house and decided to adopt us. We tried to send her home several times but in the end she didn’t want to stay at a house where she was terrified and poorly treated. So in the end we opened our door, she ran inside, and she’s been ours ever since. She’s had her teeth removed and has a thyroid problem but she’s still beautiful and happy to be a part of our family.
Baby was originally adopted out of a shelter when she was a kitten by my uncle. The problem was that he was never home so she was lonely. Because of this she would try to get his attention by doing naughty things. He became fed up with her antics so he asked if we had room at our house. Not wanting to turn her away, we welcomed her. She was still small when we got her and she had very little strength because she was never played and her muscles were never exercised. She is now a very strong and agile kitty, gets lots of attention, and is never lonely.
Minnah is my kitty and the only one purchased and not given to us. She’s also the only cat to have only ever had one home. I bought her as a gift to myself when I was 16 to celebrate my beating cancer. I bought her along with her two brothers so that they wouldn’t be separated. Unfortunately both the brothers have passed away over the years. But Minnah has *knock on wood* survived. She’s now 12 years old and doesn’t look a day over 2. She’s the true definitely of a lap cat and every person who’s come to our house that has said they don’t like cats has also unanimously agreed that Minnah changed their minds.
