Been watching Supernatural lately..

said the so-called "Jack's father" Dean Winchester

Sam was Jack's dad!!

And yet, in Jacks 'final' moments the kid picks DEAN to spend time with (driving, fishing) and Sam lets him, because he thinks —

'I want to let Dean make up for the time he spent hating the kid'.

Sam, YOU deserved to show him how to drive.

YOU deserved to take him fishing.

He's YOUR SON, and rightfully so!

And I'm not mad at Sam at all, I get it, he knew it was important for Dean to make amends, and for Jack to be accepted by Dean. But Sam loved the boy from the very beginning and instantly jumped to protect him.

It was unconditional, it was sweet and it was pure parental love. Because Sam went through the same abuse cycle with Dean, and John prior to that. He knows.

Dean a) said he'd kill Jack (to his face!);

b) said he's not family;

c) called Jack a monster;

d) wanted to lock Jack in the box and made SAM PUT HIM THERE, saying 'the kid trusts you' (no shit, maybe because Sam was honest and kind???)

e) wanted to kill Jack, even though he had his soul back

And THEN they made it seem like Dean was his father too. Well, fuck that.

And I have a whole fic which revolves around Sam dealing with the trauma of losing Jack, his son, and refusing to accept the loss. Ugh I recommend that BUT it's so freaking sad....

TLDR, Sam is Jack's father point blank period. And Dean is NOT.

Today, Dean and Jack run into eachother in the hallway. Dean's hands are full of bottles and bags and Jack's are full of soda cans as they each emerge from emptying their rooms of trash. They nod in acknowledgement of their shared chore and walk to the trashcan together.
