Head cannons

• In his first year, he tried to skateboard inside the castle (as there is no good place on the grounds to do it), and he slide down a rail straight into a teacher (I’m thinking potions, but I know that the teachers are playable characters; so, this is up for debate). This was the first straw in a hatred that is still going strong today.

• He’s a good student, very smart; but he does terribly in potions because he refuses to use any part of a dragon that would have caused harm to the dragon. “People get by without unicorn blood so they can manage without a dragons.”

• He’s father is a muggle and his mom is a squib. (This comes from the show where being a dragon skips a generation so the mom wasn’t a dragon herself.) But unlike most wizard/squib families, she was still very close to her father, and even before they learned that Jake was a wizard, he was always in Jake’s life. Both of his parents are very proud of him being a wizard and how well he does in school.

• His grandfather has been giving him lessons in the wizarding world since his magic developed at age 8. His grandfather was the one that taught him everything about real dragons and had told him about the dragon reserve.

• His wand is a 10 ½ in. Hazel wood with a unicorn hair core. While shopping for his wand with his grandfather, he felt awful when he heard that people use dragon heartstrings, and he refused to touch any of them. Though, he has grown attached to his unicorn hair wand; he would love to one day find a good dragon core that didn’t require the death of a dragon.

I’m gonna be a dragon!

Animagus..? He thought to himself as he stepped onto the grounds of the castle. How had he never once considered this? He didn’t even know if it was possible. Transfiguring one’s own body into something so powerful so… magical. He’d never heard of anyone who could do it. Of anyone who had even tried. It’s impossible, insane.  He needed to clear his head.

He tossed his broom off his shoulder and glanced at it hovering just off the ground before stepping on. He stood still for a moment feeling the vibrations coming from his broom before leaning forward, causing the broom to slowly glide over the cobblestone. He swerved effortlessly through the busy courtyard, his body steering as his mind wandered. This is where he could think. Everything felt familiar and safe while he was on his skateboard… broom. This was his entire life before he found out he was a wizard; it made him feel like flying, even if he was trapped on the ground.

He thought the peace and quiet would help him think more logically, but gliding over the lake he was more certain than ever that what he wanted—this dragon thing—was right. It was beyond stupid and dangerous, but every cell in his body was telling him this was right. Dragons were a part of him. Growing up as a muggle he knew he was different, but he thought things would change when he got to Hogwarts. But he still felt like he was missing a huge part of himself. It’s not that he didn’t feel like he belonged, but more that there was this third part of him that he didn’t know about.

That I’m not allowed to know about, he thought bleakly.

Though he knew he looked like a dragon-obsessed nerd, he knew there was more to it. He knew dragons were a part of his soul; he’d known long before he knew dragons even existed. And deep down, he knew that if there was even the smallest chance that this would work, he would try.

Sneaking out

Jake had never exactly been the most patient of people, in fact, his lack of focus and over excitability often get him in trouble; however, he felt that anyone would have gone crazy at this point. He’d been sitting this toilet for at least three hours. It had to be past midnight. Surely he was safe to leave. With his heart pounding, he walked across the bathroom to the door. He put his ear against the door, listening for anything strange, before cracking it open and peeking out side.

He sighed with relief when he saw the empty corridor. He should be able to make it from here. The library was only around the corner, and surely the place wasn’t being too heavily monitored on a Tuesday this close to the end of the semester. All the students were burned out from exams, and the teachers were busy with their own end of the year work. No one would catch him.

Feeling his heartbeat quicken with excitement, he walked as quietly as he could to the end of the corridor. He was actually going to make it. He was going to get into the restricted section. He couldn’t help but smile until he felt his stomach drop. He didn’t understand why at first, but then his brain processed what he was hearing. Footsteps. He slowly opened the closest door to him and found himself in classroom. He pushed himself against the wall next to the door as best he could and closed his eyes waiting. This is it… I’m dead. They’re going to kick me out.

Jake Long- Jake, American Dragon: Jake Long

Halfblood || 16 years old || 6th year || Gryffindor 

Jake has always been brave, friendly, and unafraid to try new things. He had always had hordes of friends, surrounding himself in people. But, above all else, he had always been completely obsessed with the idea of dragons. Reading myths about them, drawing them, watching every movie that could have ever contained a dragon, owning dragon posters that covered his room as a child, Jake knew it all and he had seen it all, well except the real thing of course. It was safe to say that if dragons had a number one fangirl it would be Jake. Jake didn’t mind that title, he took his knowledge with pride, after all, dragons were pretty cool.

When Jake got to Hogwarts, the first thing he did was begin finding out what he could about the creatures. His parents won’t take him to any of the dragon reserves, but he’s hoping to wear them down until he can start working there himself. But this year, he began to hear whispers a way he can become even closer to dragons than that. An animagus. Full of confidence, Jake is now looking into ways of becoming an animagus, specifically, he hopes to become a dragon animagus. Despite everything saying that this process is difficult, possibly deadly if done wrong, he has confidence in himself. He wants to make it happen, so that will make it easy, right?
