Today I wanted to talk about Kyle Bassinga. Kyle was a 21 year old man from Georgia, whose family described him as "a kind, thoughtful, and smart young man who loved nature, music, and the people around him". Kyle Bassinga was killed on February 18th 2026, just ten days after his birthday. He was found hanging from a tree in a park.
The police ruled it a suicide. The family and local community demanded an investigation. The police refused to change their ruling.
I know this website it too white for this to really go anywhere, but an understanding of the present reality of white supremacy in the United States is just so important to transfeminism here. Lynchings never stopped, white supremacy never went away, you just stopped looking.

Why don’t we hear about Congo?
I'd like to get back to sketching. I got a sketchbook from Dollar Tree and scribbled these two.
reblog with one creative goal that you would like to pursue in 2025 in the tags
it doesn’t have to be ‘big’ and there is no pressure to complete said goal. but i’d love to hear from writers, artists, performers, academics, designers, coders, and so on! 🤍
if it’s a creative outlet, it’s included. let’s inspire each other ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
Reblog if you think a woman can be complete without children
Y’ALL HAVE TIME TO REBLOG THIS. IT TAKES LESS THAN FIVE SECONDS.
who isn’t gonna reblog this? like what?
“Occasionally I’ll have a beer after work and break out the sketchbook. But I had wanted to be this great painter. I wanted to do these grand things: big, huge oil paintings. But those days of painting all the time were such a roller coaster. There were these periods of extreme depression, followed by manic states of trying to put myself out there. I couldn’t do it anymore. I mainly felt sorry for my dad. I know it was rough for him. My mom hadn’t wanted me to go to art school. She wanted me to do something more practical, but my dad said: ‘No. This is what he wants to do, and I want to support his dream.’ And then I abandoned it. That was the first time I had to deal with real failure. A lot of times when you’re an artist, it’s your job, it’s your lifestyle, it’s your entire fucking identity. It wasn’t like I failed to do a thing. It was like: I failed to be something, you know? It was a failure to live up to what I thought was my destiny. But then on the other side of that, there was this figuring out that there was nothing wrong with me the entire time. I didn’t need to be something else to have meaningful friendships, or a good relationship. I didn’t need to be something else to be loved and cared about. After work tonight I’m going to meet up with a person who’s in love with me, and I can’t wait. And that person met me long after I gave up on being a full-time artist. They met me when I wasn’t even a chef yet. I was a piss-poor, part-time line cook. But even then, they decided I was worth it. So you know, there’s something there. There’s something there that’s enough.”
I really feel this.
Story time:
I used to draw a lot more often, but it's been really difficult these past few years. Spring of 2016 regurgitated a virus that had been spreading throughout my body since winter of 2000.
It feels like I can see all the talent I had sinking in quicksand. Everytime I try to pull it out it sinks a little lower until I'm just digging in sand and panicking as i lose sight of what was just there. Dramatic I know.
Anyway I wanted to draw something today and couldn't bring myself to do it. The quicksand swallowed the small ambition to sketch something just as soon as I opened the small sketchbook to the clean white page.
I see these amazing artists here on Tumblr and feel that pull of anxiety and grief thinking I'll never get back that desire of creativity or that it's too late to start again.
I don't want to send the message that I've given up or that I've become hopeless in pulling my art and self from the quicksand. Giving up is giving in and allowing myself to be quickly swallowed up and disappear, the ground becoming decietfully still as if there was nothing there at all. I don't know how long it will be before that white paper becomes alive with shades of purple and quick scribbled figures; I cant let that small ounce of creativity suffocate and be forgotten. I'll be here digging on hands and knees to save what's left of my art and all of myself.
