Y'all, I know Tumblr is already crawling with gofundmes, but I'd really appreciate it if some of you would take a look at these, and consider sharing them if you can.

Last Saturday, 8/8, five teenage boys were driving up on the Colorado National Monument outside of Grand Junction, and they went off the road. All five were pronounced dead on the scene.

Five 17-year-old boys died late Saturday night after driving off a cliff in Grand Junction, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office. Grand Junction police officers and firefighters responded to the crash near 2694 Lookout Lane at about 7:45 a.m.

They were out there, dying or dead, for several hours. No one knew where they were.

These were five bright 17-year-old boys. My students from a nearby county are a mess, as some of them knew these boys from sports clubs or church camp.

In nine days it'll be three years since you passed away, barely a year and a half old, it'll be 3 years since I wasn't there to do my job as your Aunt. Two days earlier you said your first word to me over a video call with your mom.

When I got the call that you had died I was 800+ miles away doing the same drugs that your parents had told me I couldn't move with y'all because I brought them into the house. I'm three years clean from coke as of your death anniversary, but it's not nearly enough.

I should have been there, it was my job to get you kids into your bedroom and barricade the door when your dad would get abusive, start laying hands on your mom and destroying things your siblings made, family heirlooms, furniture, whatever was in his was path, & because I brought my addiction into your house, I couldn't be there to watch you after your parents got in a fight and left you unattended for hours before they found you dead. You were just a lil guy. Barely a year and a half old. You'd almost be 5 today if I could have just gotten my shit together.

I watched your siblings while your mother gave birth to you, I was the one who'd feed/bounce/hold you when your mom was burnt out, since your dad couldn't bother to pay you or your siblings attention unless he was mad.

I was a damn fucking good Aunt Sarah, until my choices took that ability away from me.

congratulations to me on writing the darkest thing I’ve ever written~

apparently I’m not over my miscarriage after all.

(I mean not that I really thought I was, I don’t think that’s the kind of thing you ever really get over, I just didn’t expect those feelings to be so loud when I opened that particular box. )

but it was a good cry, and I have a fairly solid chapter one I think. Establishes character, motivation, etc. (and no one is gonna get half way through it and be like ugh I just didn’t think it would get so dark! It’s dark. It’s about finding light! It has to start dark!) needs polishing of course, but nothing really jumps out as “oh I’m gonna need to change that.”

I think the prosecution in the Lindsay Clancy trial is being so aggressive and flippant and devoid of nuance that the jury may side with the defense out of sheer sympathy. The state of Massachusetts is really good at making themselves look like Massholes in court.
