I watched your siblings while your mother gave birth to you, I was the one who'd feed/bounce/hold you when your mom was burnt out, since your dad couldn't bother to pay you or your siblings attention unless he was mad.

apparently I’m not over my miscarriage after all.
(I mean not that I really thought I was, I don’t think that’s the kind of thing you ever really get over, I just didn’t expect those feelings to be so loud when I opened that particular box. )
but it was a good cry, and I have a fairly solid chapter one I think. Establishes character, motivation, etc. (and no one is gonna get half way through it and be like ugh I just didn’t think it would get so dark! It’s dark. It’s about finding light! It has to start dark!) needs polishing of course, but nothing really jumps out as “oh I’m gonna need to change that.”
I think the prosecution in the Lindsay Clancy trial is being so aggressive and flippant and devoid of nuance that the jury may side with the defense out of sheer sympathy. The state of Massachusetts is really good at making themselves look like Massholes in court.
The fact that their children died in 2023 and Lindsay Clancy’s husband has already divorced her, remarried and had another kid. Yeahhhhhhhh. Wrap it up. Rusty Yates waited longer. I can’t imagine having your severely mentally ill and physically destroyed wife awaiting trial for the murder of your 3 children and being like “The best thing for me to do right now is to get right back in the dating scene and impregnate a new woman.” Having a hard time believing he cared enough about her and their children to notice the warning signs.
