Helena Landless is one of the greatest gothic heroines of all time, I'm surprised more literary goths don't talk about her.
Miss Piggy would be great as Penelope because human men keep finding her really attractive and she would enjoy stringing them along until Kermit came home and then violently chucking them out.
via @thedupshadove
#Also if you go back to the original Muppet Show#even though Kermit would usually reject her advances toward him#he tended to get snippy whenever she got flirty with a guest star/a guest star got flirty with her#so he would participate in the throwing-out of the suitors. In my opinion.
Imagine Kermit making The Face, flapping his arms and yelling "Get out!"
I think the phrase he used was "Would you get out of here!?"

I think there should be a production of the Edwin Drood musical that's all female, including in-universe as an all female music hall with the men done as trouser roles. Historically dubious but fun.
Do you believe that Lizzie Borden was innocent?

It seems like we're just feeding characters to Miss Piggy at this point
sometimes you just have to say "you are all so fucking stupid" and scroll past
âSwastikas in punk are basically another way for kids to get a rise out of their parents and maybe the press, both of whom deserve the irritation. To the extent that most of these spikedomes ever had a clue what the stuff originally meant, it only went so far as their intent to shock. âItâs like a stanceâ, as Ivan [Julian] says. âA real immature way of being dangerous.â Maybe. Except that after a while this casual, even ironic embrace of the totems of bigotry crosses over into the real poison⊠Something harder to pass off entered the air in 1977, when I started encountering little zaps like this: I opened up a copy of a Florida punk fanzine called New Order and read an article by Miriam Linna of the Cramps, Nervus Rex, and now Zantees: âI love the Ramones [because] this is the celebration of everything American â everything teenaged and wonderful and white and urbanâŠâ You could say the âwhiteâ jumping out of that sentence was just like Ornette Coleman declaring This Is Our Music, except that the same issue featured a full-page shot of Miriam and one of her little friends posing proudly with their leathers and shades and a pistol in front of the headquarters of the United White Peopleâs Party, under a sign bearing three flags: âGODâ (cross), âCOUNTRYâ (stars and stripes), âRACEâ (swastika). Sorry, Miriam, I can go just so far with affectations of kneejerk cretinism before I puke.â
â Lester Bangs, The White Noise Supremacists
I am once again asking all punks and fellow goths to read The White Noise Supremacists before saying punk was âalwaysâ about kindness and leftism.
I figured all this was in the Lenny Bruce spirit of letâs-defuse-them-epithets-by-slinging-âem-out in Detroit I thought absolutely nothing of going to parties with people like David Ruffin and Bobby Womack where Iâd get drunk, maul the women, and improvise blues songs along the lines of âShoâ wish ah wuz a n[*****] / Then mah dickâd be bigger,â and of course they all laughed. It took years before I realized what an asshole Iâd been, not to mention how lucky I was to get out of there with my white hide intact. Iâm sure a lot of those guys were very happy to see this white kid drunk on his ass making a complete fool if not a human TV set out of himself, but to this day I wonder how many of them hated my guts right then. Because Lenny Bruce was wrongâmaybe in a better world than this such parlor games would amount to cleansing jet offtakes, and between friends, where a certain bond of mutual trust has been firmly established, good natured racial tradeoffs can be part of the vocabulary of understood affections. But beyond that trouble beginsâwhen you fail to realize that no matter how harmless your intentions are, there is no reason to think that any shit that comes out of your mouth is going to be understood or happily received. Took me a long time to find it out, but those words are lethal, man, and you shouldnât just go slinging them around for effect. This seems almost too simple and obvious to say, but maybe itâs good to have something simple and obvious stated once in a while, especially in this citadel of journalistic overthink. If youâre black or Jewish or Latin or gay those little vernacular epithets are bullets that riddle your guts and then fester and burn there, like torture-flak hailing on you wherever you go. Ivan Julian told me that whenever he hears the word ân[*****],â no matter who says it, black or white, he wants to kill. Once when I was drunk I told [Richard] Hell that the only reason hippies ever existed in the first place was because of n[*****]s, and when I mentioned it to Ivan while doing this article I said, âYou probably donât even remember- â âOh yeah, I remember,â he cut me off. And that was two years ago, one ostensibly harmless little slip. You take a lifetime of that, and youâve got grounds for trying in any way possible, even if itâs only by convincing one individual at a time, to remove those words from the face of the earth. Just like Hitler and Idi Amin and all other enemies of the human race.
Other people who have read the original Mystery of Edwin Drood, do you think Nevill and Helena Landless are ethnically Southeast Asian or Anglo people raised in India? People are racist to them, but Nevil is also racist talking about native people back home.
I can see Anglo-Indian, where he thinks being half white should earn him more respect but the Brits don't give it to him. He is kind of a jerk, though not nearly as much as other characters in the book. (Helena Landless, though, has never done anything wrong in her life ever)
I actually had a dream involving The Mystery of Edwin Drood where Van Helsing was there and Jasper was convinced he was onto him but the guy was paying him no attention whatsoever.
I hear being kind is punk but is it ska? Is being kind ska? I don't care about being kind unless it's ska.
fuck i need to amend the list
this is all getting so complex :/

âit sounds like youâre justifying their actions-â i am. theyâre a fictional character. iâm okay with anything they do all the time. hope this helps.
this shit from the comments is unironically so fucking sad to me. this is where weâre at now? âarenât books supposed to have morals?â genuinely letâs all just pack it in and go home, we tried the whole âexperiencing life and art at a greater complexity level than an eight year old can handleâ thing and it didnât work out, somebody break the news to oscar wilde, weâre done here. âbooks are meant to teach you something.â christ.
no offense but you guys need to learn the difference between someone implying their experience is universal and a post simply just not being about you
Im dryin up faster than lake mead just thinking about it
