My scrupulocity about the treatment of books is NOT commodity fetishism. It is because I am a cheapskate. This is an important distinction.
No, books are not alive and cannot feel pain, but I own tape and glue and I fucking hate spending money. Why throw it out when I could bring it back wrong?
Maybe the cover is abt 90% duct tape at this point and I had to write the title on the spine with a sharpie so I don't forget which book it is but there's nothing wrong with the words inside. The words inside are perfectly alright.
it’s simple: when I like an adaptation, everyone complaining about changes to the text is a whiny baby who needs to get over themselves and accept that sometimes you have to change the story to enrich the experience/work within the medium. when I don’t like an adaptation, it’s because nobody else understands the core themes of the original work and would be better off just creating a story independent of what they’re trying to adapt.
reblog if you're pro sexualization for pervert purposes in art
tragic: tumblr user develops new obsession(s) with media that none of their mutuals know or care about
look i knowwww this will make me sound like a pretentious asshole, but art and culture literally make you a better and more interesting person. im not exaggerating. you need to pick up some highfalutin classic literature or watch some experimental auteur films every now and then to gain some scope and perspective about the world around you. cultivate curiosity! this can help you in many ways☝
shout out to the funniest comment on a production of assassins ever
God forbid a man goes to the Lordy
i raise you:
If I ever directed assassins I would just just the N word to slave. It holds a similar impact to the original lyrics and it doesn’t affect the beat/instruments.
i can’t tell if this is serious or not but there is no word that you could replace it with and have close to the same impact. that’s the point.
You’ve heard of “i didn’t say it was good, i said i liked it,” get ready for “i said it had some technical problems & didn’t fully deliver on its themes, not that i didn’t like it”
#I voiced a criticism of some of its aspects#which in no way implies I did not like it#“and especially does not imply that I would like to hear a defense of it of the form 'shut up and let people have fun'”

Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Versions of Edwin Drood, by whether or not he is "an odious little prat who deserved what he got"
Inspired by what Neville calls him in the musical
1935 film: Says one very bad thing, but genuinely makes up with Nevil later.
2012 Miniseries: Starts off kind of a jerk, but gets better.
Book: More racist than Crisparkle, but mostly an idiot.
Musical: Nevil arguably wasn't wrong...

She herself is a haunted house.
Randomly wanted to use Cillian as a pose ref for Crane + felt like drawing him w/o his jacket
Added on some moles and a birthmark - tried to roughly shape part of it to look like a crow footprint, but idk if that's clear --'
Bonus closeup cuz I love how his face came out 🧡
urban fantasy note to self: the giant stone lions in the Boston Central Library are inscribed with the names of two respective Mass. Civil War infantry divisions, and, if woken, would likely respond well to pleas for help in the name of freeing/averting slavery and/or stabilizing the Union.
