Poirot would be a good detective to solve the Mystery of Edwin Drood because a lot of the characters are people he would be thoroughly justified in being bitchy towards, and I would love to see all of Dickens' classic That Guys in a summation.
people talking about this castle is haunted or whatever while i’ve been here 500 years and haven’t seen shit
Helena Landless is one of the greatest gothic heroines of all time, I'm surprised more literary goths don't talk about her.
My favorite part so far is when someone goes "Haha, the sexy bad guy is just a strict music teacher! He'd scare you, Helena, right?" and she goes "No."
Look, I can't make Jasper/Helena actually make sense, but that was a great scene. How about a missing scene of antagonistic tension where she accuses him of being a murderer and a seducer, and he says shouldn't a defenseless maiden be afraid to cross such a man, and she once again says "Not under any circumstances"? If only I could do a Dickens pastiche...
Let your foppish friends influence you <3
A lot of people are ragging on the 'cable diverted to avoid Dobby's grave after Harry Potter fans raise a stink' thing and while I also love ragging on Harry Potter fans being weird, in this case it looks like the story was completely made up.
tl;dr: There's no evidence the interview that this was mentioned in even exists, no evidence the route of the cable has ever changed, and the whole story seems to originate from one dude's podcast.
The story also broke into mainstream via the Daily Mail, who are ... rarely if ever honest or accurate.

I think the reason I still enjoy tumblr is that even though this all still pisses me off, I know that anything that makes me mad on here is 100% earnest. It's not ragebait or engagement farming, y'all are actually just that stupid sometimes
I finally saw The Odyssey, and one of my takeaways is that Robert Pattinson was tragically born too late to be a queer-coded antagonist in 1930s swashbucklers. That man is clearly meant to strike campy poses and get into his rival's personal space and be in slutty swordfights.
Like this?
Exactly like this. Also like this:
Young Peter Cushing should have played Reverend Crisparkle. (It also feels like he should have been personal friends with Charles Dickens.)
Fairy tales aren't just ooey gooey fluffy princess stories or grim scare em straight morality tales. A lot of them are Adventures and Funny.
The one thing men in the 1700s did right was have long hair they tie back into a low ponytail with a little ribbon and also have a few stray strands at the front. Almost everything else they did that century was inexcusable though
They're making a Jeff The Killer movie. So. That's a thing
We don't have to do these things. Its entirely possible to not make this movie. We can stop this.
10 August - Mina and Lucy have a nice walk (the poor shop captain gets put to rest)
this is from an animatic which you can watch here (whole book spoilers)
I think my final disillusionment with the Glorious Violent Revolution (not that I was ever fond of it to begin with) was when the right wing tried it on January 6th and failed miserably, only to switch tactics to boring old electoralism and succeed.
