Super Soap Weekend 2002

Lisa's Account

Ok, Saturday morning Kiko was my #1 priority.  He's such a sweetie.  He came out like 5-10 minutes before he was actually supposed to begin signing autographs.  So, that impressed me even more w/him.  Anyway, it's my turn to be up w/him.  I give him the plaque and he reads it to himself and shows it to his crowd, reads it to them and asks them if they agree w/what it says.  They all start clapping and cheering after he's done reading it.  He gives me a kiss on the cheek and says "thank you baby."  Then, I show him the payday bars I bought for him.  He says "this girl is trying to give me cavities."  I told him I was sorry but, that I had read in SOD that he likes them and he laughed and thanked me for them.  I told him that Kat (**W/N that's Me! hehe**) was gonna be sending both him and Erin each a scrapbook soon.  I told him that Kat was the girl who sent him a scrapbook over their mini break and that he sent her a bunch of autographed calendars.  He immediately knew who she was and asked me to tell her thanks.  I tried seeing Erin Saturday but, that was a no go.  So, she was my #1 priority Sunday.  Ok, Sunday morning I am the very last person guaranteed to see Erin.  I show her the plaque and she had already seen Kiko's.  She said that I made his weekend w/the plaque.  I thanked her for telling me that. I let her know as well that Kat would be sending her a scrapbook and she was all "Kat from online?" And I was all yeah.  And, she got very giddy and cheery and told me to thank Kat.  Kat is a very happy person at the moment. That is my recap of meeting both Kiko and Erin (who also know who Kat is even though they haven't actually met yet).

Rachel's Poem

So in love were we two, Twas a hell they put us through. But in the end, love did conquer And together we did stand. Happily our days went by, Except of course for that vampire guy. We should have known right then and there, We were being dealt a lousy hand. Vampires came and vampires went. The stories got a tad bit bent. And then came angels, one in particular, Who screwed up all that we had planned. But... We can't just blame those with wings. See TPTB also did some things, To screw us royally a million times over, For stories that are rather bland. Magic dust only lasts so long. Go forth, please, and right this wrong. And as you dig yourselves out of the hole, remember: To see some GOOD writing would be grand! ;) Reunite Jamal and Alison! :)

A Simple Twist of Fate By Ash

She walked into the Recovery Room, seating herself at the bar as she looked around the room.

"Welcome to the Recovery Room," the young man behind the bar greeted her.� "What can I do for you?"

She pushed an unruly red curl behind her ear.� "I'm looking for Jamal Woods."

"I'm Renee Porter."

"Nice to meet ya," he replied, shaking her extended hand.� "So?� You were lookin' for me?"

She nodded.� "I'm also trying to locate Alison Barrington.� Do you know where I might be able to find her?"

He gestured to the door.� "You just did."

"Hey, Jamal," Alison greeted him, sitting down on a vacant stool.

"Hey yourself."� He grinned then turned to the redhead seated next to Alison.� "Renee Porter, Alison Barrington.� Alison Barrington, Renee Porter."

"How do you do," Renee answered, offering her hand.� Alison shook it, sending a questioning look in Jamal's direction.

"So, you were looking for us," Jamal prompted her.

Renee nodded.� "I'm here about your friend, Valerie Watson.� Is there someplace we can talk?"

"How 'bout the corner table?" Jamal suggested.� "Let me just get someone to cover the bar for a bit."

The women walked over to the table and sat down as Jamal got one of the other guys to man the bar before taking off his apron and joining them.

"Now what's this about Valerie?" Jamal asked, taking the empty seat next to Alison.

"I'm a lawyer, and she was a client of mine," Renee explained.� "I need some background information from you.� How did you know each other?"

Jamal shifted in his seat.� "I knew her boyfriend."

Renee consulted the legal pad she'd pulled from her attache.� "Her daughter's father, Cedric Walker?"

He nodded.

She turned to Alison.� "How about you?"

"Jamal was trying to help her get away from Cedric.� He used to beat on her while she was pregnant with Hope, so Jamal hid them at his apartment.� I gave her money so she and the baby could leave town."

"Except that Cedric nearly caught them," Jamal added.� "Alison distracted him so I could get them to the train station."

Renee flipped a page, nodding as she read.

"I still don't understand why you need to talk to us," Alison said. "Cedric's dead.� He was killed in a drive-by-shooting a year ago."

"Yeah, what's this gotta do with us?" Jamal asked.

Renee pulled a document from her case.� "Miss Watson came to see me six months ago.� She asked me to draw up a document naming the two of you as joint legal guardians for her daughter upon her death."

"What?" Jamal nearly shouted.

Alison put a hand on his arm in an effort to calm him.� She could feel the other patrons staring in their direction.� "You're telling us Valerie's dead?"

Renee nodded grimly, trying to ignore the look of dismay that crossed Jamal's face.� "I'm sorry."

"When?" Alison asked, "how?"

"Three and a half weeks ago," Renee replied.� "She was diagnosed with acute leukemia eight months ago.� The doctors did all they could, but the treatments just weren't working.� That was when she decided to have the guardianship papers drawn up.� I think she knew she wasn't going to make it and she wanted the two of you to raise her daughter."

"What about her family," Jamal inquired, regaining emotional control, "why didn't they take Hope?"

"She wasn't able to locate them.� I realize this has come as a shock to you and you need time to decide what you're going to do, but I'm afraid that's a luxury you don't have.� We're operating under the state of South Carolina's policy, here.� The family or guardian of a child only has a month to claim it before the child is placed in the care of the state.� Your month is up in three days."

"So we only have three days to decide if we want the responsibility of being Hope's legal guardians, or she becomes a ward of the state and they decide who raises her," Alison said, making sure that she understood the situation.

"That's correct."

"Where's Hope now?"

"She's staying with a social worker at the Port Charles Hotel.� She'll remain there until you make your decision.� If you decide to assume guardianship, you'll sign the papers and Hope will be left with you. I'll take the papers back to South Carolina and file them with the court.� If not, both Hope and I will be returning and she'll be turned over to Child Services to be placed in foster care.� I realize this is a big decision.� I'll meet you here at three o'clock on Wednesday to find out your answer."

"Thank you," Alison replied as Renee got up, heading out of the restaurant.� Once Renee had gone she turned to Jamal.� "I'd better get back to work.� I'll catch you for dinner before your class, okay?"

He nodded.� "Later."

Alison smiled reassuringly and waved before heading out the door. Jamal watched her leave before walking back over to the counter and tying his apron on once more.� He sighed bitterly before returning to work.� He hated Mondays.

"You're back," Livvie greeted Alison as she slid into her seat at the sixth floor nurses' station.

"Yeah," the blonde replied absently, starting to file charts into their proper places.

The brunette studied her friend.� She hadn't been in Port Charles very long; just under eighteen months, and she'd made a few friends when she'd first arrived, but Alison was the first friend she had that was her own age.� It had been rough, uncovering her family's secrets, but Alison had been a good friend through it all.� She'd been the one to encourage her to make her own career choice instead of following in her parents' footsteps, and Livvie had, attending PCU with a major in pre-med.

"So, how was lunch?"

Alison sighed.� "Awful.� Remember I mentioned Jamal's friend, Valerie?"

Livvie nodded.� "The one with the baby, right?"

"Yeah.� Her lawyer came looking for us.� She died almost a month ago and she put me and Jamal down as legal guardians for her baby."

Livvie whistled low.� "Wow.� I bet Jamal's really upset."

Alison had introduced her to Jamal.� She'd been surprised at their friendship, but Livvie hadn't ever questioned Alison's reasons for hanging around him.� It was clear that if she wanted Alison as a friend, then Jamal came with the package.� It was fine with her.� She could tell that there was more to him than what met the eye and once she'd really gotten to know him, she began to understand why he and Alison were such good friends.� Beneath the tough exterior beat a heart of pure gold.

"Yeah.� It was a shock, you know?� And now we have three days to decide if we want to be her guardians or not.� If we don't, then she gets taken back to South Carolina and put in foster care.� If we do, then we have to start taking care of her immediately.� The whole thing is way messed up.� I'm meeting him for dinner before his class tonight to talk about it."

Livvie smiled sympathetically.� "I'm sure you'll make the right decision.� Just do what your hearts tell you to do."

"That's easier said than done."

"I know.� I've gotta have dinner with my dad tonight.� He's been in a mood lately."

"The anniversary of the divorce is coming up."� Alison shook her head. "I still can't believe that he and Dr. Lambert split."

"Yeah, but at least they're managing to stay friends."

"Doesn't make it hurt any less."

Livvie nodded, checking her watch.� "I gotta run.� Supposed to meet Dr. Thornhart at the clinic.� Only eight more hours to go and I'm outta here."

Alison laughed.� "When you're a big shot doctor, you'll look back fondly on this internship."

Livvie rolled her eyes.� "Remind me of that when I'm sitting cross-eyed in front of the computer typing up the field experience paper.� Anyways, I'm gone.� Good luck tonight."

Alison nodded, turning her attention back to her filing as Livvie started off down the hall.

"Dammit, what's happening to him?" Lark Scanlon shouted as the machines in the room went crazy.

"BP's eighty palp and falling," Serena Baldwin reported.

"Okay, give him one amp epi and 20 ccs saline, IV push," Lark ordered.

"Check his lung."

Lark's head snapped up.� "Who the hell let you in here?� Someone get this guy to the waiting room!"

The guy didn't move.� "Barfight, right?� Usually means broken ribs.� He could have a hemo-pneumo."

Serena looked up from where she'd been examining the man's chest. "He's right."

"Get him *out* of here," Lark growled.� Once he'd gone she turned to Serena.� "Okay, let's get a central line in and drain that lung so we can get him up to the OR."

Serena handed Lark the proper equipment, watching as the latter carefully completed the procedure.

"Okay," Lark said, "he's ready to go for a ride.� Let's go."

They wheeled him toward a waiting elevator, and Lark and company piled in around the bed.� They were met by Eve Ramsey and the rest of the surgical team, who sped him off toward the designated room.� Lark rode the elevator back downstairs, stepping out of the car to see Alan Quartermaine motioning to her.

"Lark," he called, "have you got a moment?� There's someone I want you to meet."

She walked over to him, slowing down at the sight of his companion, who'd been hidden from her view by a large plant.

No.� No, this couldn't be happening.

"This is Dr. Lark Scanlon."� Alan gestured to the guy from the trauma room several minutes earlier.� "Lark, this is Sly Eckert, our new resident."

Livvie walked through the door at Mario's making her way over to her father's table.

"Hi," she greeted him.� "Sorry I'm late.� Last minute patient at the clinic."

Kevin Collins smiled at his daughter.� "Hey, you're talking to someone who knows only too well what that's all about."

Livvie laughed.� "I keep forgetting."

"It's okay anyway, I wasn't waiting long."� He shifted in his seat. "How was work?"

Livvie shrugged.� "It was okay.� Busy, but you know how that goes.� How about you?"

"The same."

"I spoke to your moth-Rachel, today.� She wants to know if you're coming to see her next month."

"I hope you told her no."

"I told her she'd have to take that up with you."

"Well, I'm not going."

"I'm not going to force you into anything, and I never in a million years thought I would be defending Rachel Locke, of all people, but she really does love you, Livvie.� She never intended for you to get hurt."

"She kept me away from you, she lied to me all those years, knowing about my nightmares.� God, she lewt me think that she was my mother."

"When you think about it, she was, in every sense except the biological.� For what it's worth, she and Estelle didn't do a bad job of raising you.� You're smart, kind, compassionate.� I'm proud to call you my daughter."

Livvie met his eyes.� "You could have called me your daughter sooner if she hadn't lied about it."

"It's your decision, Livvie, but I want you to remember that we can't change the past, just the future.� You can spend your life angry, or you can let it go and move on.� Try talking to Lucy about it.� She and Scott almost split up over losing Christina, but they worked through it and now their bond is stronger than ever."

"I'll think about it," Livvie promised.

Kevin smiled.� "That's all I can ask for."

"Hey," Alison greeted Jamal as she came through the Rec Room doors.

"Hey yourself," he replied, without his characteristic grin.

Alison dropped herself into the seat across from him, giving Victor her order.� "You know, I've been doing some thinking about what Miss Porter said today."

He looked up.� "You're not actually suggesting we do this, are you?"

"Yes, I am," she replied as Victor set a chicken caesar salad in front of her.� "Look, I know you're scared, okay?� I am too.� I mean, I don't exactly come from the family of the year.� But you're not your father and I'm not my parents."

He looked at her skeptically.

"We have a lot of examples to draw from," she pointed out.� "Frank is a great father to Neil and the new baby, Scott is terrific with Serena and Christina and Karen, and then there's Victor and Dr. Collins.� I'm sure they'd all love to give you some fatherly advice.� And I have Mary, Courtney and Lucy I can go to for tips.� They're all terrific moms.� And Gabriella's due any day, so we'll have her and Joe too.� We won't be alone in this."

He looked like he was mulling it over, so she forged on.

"This is what Valerie wanted.� She always trusted you with Hope.� What I can't figure out is why she picked me."

"Maybe she knew how much I hated your guts and wanted to punish me," Jamal responded with a teasing smile.

"Oh, yeah, that *must* be it," Alison answered, rolling her eyes.� They shared a laugh and then turned serious.� "So?� Is it yes or is it no?"

He thought for a moment.� She was definitely right about all the people they had to help them out, and Valerie had picked them herself.� She'd always had more faith in him than anyone else.� Except maybe Alison.� If this was Valerie's last wish, then who was he to deny her?� He loved her like a sister and Hope like a niece.� He couldn't handle soending the rest of his life wondering where she was and how she was doing.

He reached for her hand across the table.� "Yes."

Magic By Amy

After the charges for Jamal were dropped, Alison and Jamal went to Luigi's to celebrate. Alison wanted to go eat some Italian food and thought Luigi's would be a great place. She thought she would ask him after they got back to his place.

Alison: Hey Jamal, lets go out to Luigi's to celebrate.

Jamal: I don't have that much money to do that.

Jamal: Okay, look here Ms. Spunky, you can go back to your rich life and forget that you ever met me. Just go invite some of your "friends" and return to your life before me. You remember that life, what color do you want your BMW to be, what color of finger nail polish are you going to purchase with your gold card.

Alison: Excuse me, but you are one of my friends.

Jamal: Alison, I am from the wrong side of the tracks for you.

Alison: I have told you once, that nobody tells me what to do. I told you that I want to take you to lunch to celebrate so let's go.

Jamal: Let me tell you, I am not your grandmother's favorite and I am sure that I won't be your parents favorite either.

Alison: I only look at a few things when I choose my friends. First, you never had expectations of me and it didn't matter to you whether or not I had money. You are a real friend because you know all about me and like me just the same. I would like for you to be my friend forever because I love your spunkiness, courage, and your ability to make lemonade out of lemons.

Jamal (shocked at what he heard) : Look Alison, I don't think that you know what you are saying.

Alison: I know what I am saying and you know that about me. I only say what I want and I want to take you out to lunch to celebrate okay?

Jamal ( starting to get hungry): Okay but lets go to the pizza joint down the street or do you have to watch your weight? You know you can only eat salads or something.

Alison: I think that I can handle a pizza; I will just make you run with me in the morning.

Jamal: Well let's go.

Jamal and Alison made it down to the pizza joint and got a pizza. They chatted about what they were going to do. Jamal told Alison that he was going to get a job at the Recovery Room. Alison figured that she would continue to work at GH for a while. She knew that her grandmother was going to ask when she was going to college. Alison really didn't want to go to school; she knew that it was inevitable, but Alison really didn't want to think about it. She enjoyed the time with Jamal. They went back to his place and watched some TV.

Jamal: Hey wait, here for a minute.

Alison: Oh yeah like I am going to go anywhere.

Jamal was gone for a while and came back into the room with a box.

Jamal: Hey, this is for you okay.

Alison: Gee, Jamal you didn't have to get me a thank you present for lunch.

Jamal: Okay, I will just take it back.

Alison took the box from her hands and quickly opened it and couldn't believe what it was. It was Fred's twin. Alison quickly turns to Jamal and gives him a really big hug.

Alison: How did you find this? I thought they quit making them.

Jamal: Well when I was on the run, I found it in a tackle shop just outside the city limits.

Alison: Jamal, thank you so much.

Jamal: Alison, can we truly talk?

Alison ( not sure as to what he wanted to say) We are friends, you can tell me anything.

Jamal: Well here is what I want to tell you

How You Changed My World By Amy

Just let me stop for a moment to reflect How I could even think about making it this world without you You made me see my life for the first time You helped me to discover myself.

Dinners galore with the finest people Doesn’t hold a candle to time with you You never had any expectations of me You only wanted me to be me.

When life handed you a lemon, you made lemonade You were always cool under pressure I think that is what impressed me most. I just wanted you to know how I feel.

My thoughts and feeling are of you each day When I wake up, my mind wants to make sure that you are okay When I am not with you, I think about you continuously I guess what I am trying to say: You changed my world and I love you.

All This Time By Kat

Prologue:

Alison looked into Jamal’s eyes. She took a deep breath and opened her mouth to speak. "I’m leaving Port Charles. I’m never coming back Jamal." She told him.

Jamal looked at her, her blue eyes flooded with tears, her blond hair pulled away from her sad face, "Why? Why are you leaving Ali? What about us?"

Alison closed her eyes, "It’s over Jamal." She told him as she stood on her toes and kissed him deeply before pulling away and walking to the door and out of Jamal’s life.

Chapter One:

Dr. Jamal Woods stood at the Nurses Station and flipped through his messages. He found what appeared to be an important one and read it again, before starting to dial out. He received the information and replied with treatment directions. He hung up and then picked up a chart.

"Dr. Woods, how are you today?" Asked the voice of one of the nurses.

"Well Ms. Scanlon, I’m fine and how about you?"

"I’m just peachy. Just don’t let my Grandmother know that, she’ll think I’ve got a boyfriend and so one."

"Lark, Mary isn’t that bad." Jamal said.

"You forget what happened when I was dating Nikolas Cassadine, I believe she started knitting baby clothes." Lark told him.

Jamal smiled, "Well if she was, it was only so you’d be happy."

"Yeah, and I lost him because of it. She scared the guy away."

"Yeah well from what I hear, one of his grandmothers was a murderer."

"Yeah Helena. She was one crazy bitch." The phone rings and Lark picks it up, "Fourth Floor Nurses Station, how may I help you? Yes…I believe that can be arranged. Thank you." Lark scribbled something down on a pink sheet and handed it to Jamal, "Tomorrow, you have an appointment with the new Hospital Attorney."

"Why? Am I getting sued for something?" Jamal asked as he took the paper.

"I don’t think so, her secretary said she was meeting with all the heads of departments, and you are Chief-Resident." Lark reminded him.

"Wonderful, I hate stuffy board meetings like this." Jamal said, as he crumpled the paper up.

"Oh I’m sure its just a shake and howdy."

"Oh Goody, they can ask me who I want to have dinner with dead or alive." Jamal rolled his eyes.

"It won’t be that bad." Lark said with a smile.

"I hope so." Jamal said as he picked up a chart and left.

The door opened and a light got turned on in an empty office. "Here you go Ms. Barrington, your brand new office." Said Nikolas Cassadine.

"Thank you Mr. Cassadine." She said as she walked in and looked around, "I think this is going to be perfect. Though I never expected to return to Port Charles."

"We’ll we’re very lucky to have you back. I’m glad you chose our offer, I know you had many, that were probably better." Nikolas explained.

"Well I decided Port Charles is where I belong. I’m just going to need time to readjust to the old town." Alison said with a smile.

"Wonderful, oh and tomorrow there’s a meeting to introduce you to the board and heads of the departments." Nikolas told her.

"Well I think I probably know most of the board, and has the staff changed so much that most of the department heads are different?" She asked.

"Well a few, have changed, Karen Ramsey is in charge of the ER, Jamal Woods, is Chief Resident, and a few others." He told her.

"Jamal Woods is a doctor now?" She asked as she leaned her body against her desk. She had never, in a million years expected to hear that. I mean, she always figured if he had done something, in the medical field he’d be a paramedic, like Frank.

"Yes, wasn’t he your date to a few of the Nurses Balls?"

"Yes, he and I were friends, very good friends. We just haven’t spoken in eight years."

"Well he’s a wonderful Doctor. I’m sure he’ll be glad to see you. I have to go I have a meeting with my Aunt Alexis about something. I’ll see you tomorrow Alison." Nikolas said before leaving.

Alison sat down at her desk and took out a picture and looked at it. "Things, are going to turn upside down that that I’m back and I never meant for that to happen."

Chapter Two:

Jamal walked into Scanlon’s Bar and Grille. He went over to the bar and sat down. A moment later Joe came over to him. "What can I get for you Jamal?"

"Just a cola, I’m here to pick up a take out order. I need to go over a few things before I meet with the new hospital attorney."

"That doesn’t sound like much fun." Joe said as he got Jamal’s drink and set it in front of him.

"Well the thing that really is bothering me is they won’t tell us who this new attorney is." Jamal took a sip of his cola, "Its probably some New York hot shot, Nikolas Cassadine found on his last trip their."

"Don’t worry, chances are you’ll never even have to talk to them. Hey I was at General Hospital for six years and I never once talked to Alexis Davis." Joe told him.

"And you weren’t exactly easy with the temper either right?"

"Exactly," Joe said with a laugh as one of the runners came out with Jamal’s order. "Here’s your order, want it on your tab?"

"Yeah, I’ll probably see you tomorrow Joe." Jamal said as he finished his soda and left.

Jamal was on his way out the door when he walked into a young woman. She was dressed in a purple T-shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap. Sunglasses covered her eyes, and her hair was pulled away from her face.

"I am so very sorry." He told her.

The woman cleared her throat, "don’t worry about it." She told him in a strained voice.

"All right, bye." He said and left her there.

She watched him walk away and let out a sigh of relief. "Jamal, thank God you didn’t recognize me." She said to herself as she went in and picked up her order. She was about to leave the bar when she got recognized.

"Alison, is that you?" Asked Joe from behind the bar.

Alison removed the sunglasses, "Hey Joe, how’s business?" she asked nervously.

"Really good, I take it your avoiding Jamal."

"Why would you think that?" she asked with a smile.

"Well how your dressed and the fact you just ran right smack into him and didn’t say a thing to him about who you were." Joe said.

Alison sighed, "Joe, I’m moving into my apartment, which means the clothes, and was that Jamal I walked into. I didn’t recognize him. I have to go and finish unpacking, I start work tomorrow. Bye Joe."

"Bye Alison." Joe said as he watched Alison leave, knowing this was going to all blow up in their faces.

The next morning Alison sat in the boardroom of General Hospital. Her stomach was tied up in knots. She couldn’t do this, she couldn’t stand up in front of all these people and tell them, she’s the new hospital attorney.

Nikolas brought her over a glass of water, "Stay calm Alison, there not going to rip you to shreds."

"This is just so nerve wracking." She said taking a sip of water.

"Why don’t you go, into the restroom down the hall and calm down and come back in five minutes when everyone’s here?" Nikolas suggested.

"All right, I’ll go do that. Thank you Nikolas." Alison said before leaving. She went to the restroom and calmed down. She then came back and walked into the room and was greeted by several gasps. She looked around and didn’t see Jamal. "Hello everyone." She said.

Just then, someone showed up at the door behind her, she turned around and saw Jamal.

Jamal looked at her and stood their speechless.

Chapter Three:

Jamal had been running a few moments late that morning and he ran into the board room, but he stopped when he saw the slender, blond figure, and heard the voice that still after eight years haunted his dreams. When she turned around and he saw her, his heart skipped a beat. He looked at her, not sure of what he could say. Part of him wanted to yell, and scream, and cry. "Dr. Woods, good of you to join us. I’m Alison Barrington, the new attorney here at General Hospital." Alison said, trying to draw him into the conversation.

"Its good to see you again Ms. Barrington, I thought you said you were never returning to Port Charles." Jamal said as he stepped into the room, he was unable to keep his eyes off of her.

"Yes well, that’s what I believed but things and people change." She told him.

Jamal muttered several curses as he walked up to the Nurses Station of the fourth floor. Lark looked up from her paper work, "Jamal, what on earth is wrong with you?"

He leaned against the counter, "The new Hospital attorney, is Alison Barrington."

Lark nodded, "Oh my, the same Alison Barrington, that left you three days before you were going to get married, Alison Barrington."

"The exact same." Jamal laughed, "Hell maybe now I’ll be able to find out why she left."

"If she didn’t tell you then, why would she tell you now?" Lark asked.

"Because this time, I won’t stop until I get my answer." Jamal informed his friend.

"And if you don’t like the answer you receive?" Lark asked yet again.

"I dig for the truth." Jamal said.

Alison sat in her over sized desk chair and picked up the receiver of her phone and dialed and outside line. "Hi, its Alison could I speak to Shelby?" She paused as the other end spoke, "Hi sweetie, I miss you to…yes, you’ll be coming here soon. You just have to finish the school year…Shelby, be a good girl and listen to Mrs. Davis, I know sweetie…Really? That’s wonderful, you’ll have to tell me all about it when you get here…I love you to." Alison hung her phone up and took out a picture frame and put it on her desk. Looking back at her was her daughter, Shelby. "So much like her father."

Just as that was said there was a knock on the door. Before Alison could say come in Jamal walked in. He closed the door behind him and charged the desk. His hands leaned against Mahogany desk. His face a foot above the picture of Shelby. "I was Dr. Nice in the board room, but now, now I want answers Alison."

"I’ll try to answer whatever your questions are Jamal." She said as she stood up and walked over to the couch in front of the picture window.

Jamal pushed back from the desk and went and stood in front of her. He took a deep breath. "Why did you leave Port Charles, three days before we were to get married?"

Alison closed her eyes and looked up at him and then away, "I wasn’t in love with you anymore Jamal. The only way to make you see that was for me to leave Port Charles." She told him as she got up and went back over to her desk.

Jamal followed and leaned against her desk again, this time knocking over the picture of Shelby. Before Alison could grab it, Jamal had it in his hands and he turned it around and looked at it. He then looked up at Alison, "Who’s this Alison?"

Jamal sat down at the bar. He was supposed to meet Allison Barrington there but she hadn't shown up yet. 'Were is she? 'He thought. 'She was supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago.' Just then she walked into the club, and walked over to Jamal.  "What took you so long?" He asked.  "Sorry." She said sarcastically. "So, why did you ask me here?" He asked drinking some of his drink. "Well, if you must know, a friend of the family is coming to town and I need you to help me show her around. "She said looking at him with sad little puppy dog eyes.  "No! No way am I going to help you show some stuck-up little rich girl around town." Jamal said getting up. "Please Jamal! You have to help me. She's really--,and she's--. Okay, she's a spoiled brat but please! I told her so much about you and she wants to meet you."

"Really, you told her about me? What did you say?" "I said your nice, and sweet, and--"She said. "Never mind." "And what?" He asked. "Your cute." She mumbled.  "What?" "Your cute OK, I said your cute! Will you help me or not?" "I'll do it." He finally said. "Thank you!!!!"Allison said hugging him. "Yo, yo, yo lay off the digs. So what's this chick's name?" "Greenlee Smythe, she's coming in tonight so we'll meet you here tomorrow." "OK."

(Pine Valley Pa.) "So, Greens, were are you going?" Leo Dupress asked from Greenlee Smythe's bed as she packed up her suitcase. "If you must know I'm going to Port Charles, New York. I'm visiting a family friend. And her irresistibility cute friend of some sort." "Really, well you will write me won't you." Leo asked rolling over onto his back and he looked up at Greenlee. "You are so cute when you roll on your back and act like a little puppy dog." Greenlee exclaimed laying next to him. Come here." Leo said kissing her neck. "Leo!" Greenlee whispered laying down as he started to kiss her more" My grandmother could come in any minute!" "Shhh, don't talk don't you want to enjoy one last moment together before you leave?" "Leo!" She she exclaimed laughing. (knock, knock, knock) "Oh, s**t!" Greenlee whispered looking into Leo's eyes. "Hold on! I'll be right there!"  She jumped up off the bed and started to rebutton her shirt. "What?" She said finally opening the door. "Grams! Hi!" "Hello dear. Hello,Leo. "Greenlee's grandma said walking into the room. "Hello Mrs. Smythe. "Leo said glancing at Greenlee. "So, dear are you all ready to go?" "Yes grandmother." "Well come on then, say goodbye to Leo while I have Jenkins put your bags into the car." Greenlee and Leo walked to the car and just stood at the doorstep for a while. "Well I guess this is goodbye for now." Greens said sitting on the step. "How long are you going to be gone?" Leo asked putting his hand on Greenlee's face. "A few weeks." "OK." "So..." "So..." "I guess this is goodbye." "Yeah." "I better go. I'll call you tomorrow, OK." "OK." "Bye" She whispered tears beginning to form in her eyes. "Bye." Leo watched Greenlee walk to the car. He hated to admit it but he's falling for her. But he doubted she had the same feelings for him. Greenlee got into the car and her head fell into her hands. She started crying. She loved Leo Dupress. She could never tell anyone that, but she did, she was in love with him. She couldn't leave him. She would never be able to pay attention to anything. Sure she had claimed she loved Ryan and Scott but what she felt for Leo was the real thing.

(Port Charles again) Jamal and Allison walked hand in hand down the street. They laughed about everything they could think of, from how stupid Eve was when she was around Kevin to Allison's new halter top, that she was wearing. When they got to Allison's door step they didn't want leave. He loved her and she knew it and she felt the exact same way. They just couldn't admit it to each other. Jamal leaned in and gave Allison a kiss. A real kiss not one of those 'well-see-ya-tomorrow-good-buddy' kisses. As Jamal began to walk back to his apartment Allison's face just lighted up. She was like a big ol' Christmas tree. She began to jump up and then Jamal turned around and Allison stopped jumping and looked at him smiling. Jamal started laughing and turned back around.

Chapter 1

(The next day) Alison walked into the kitchen and was surprised to see Greenlee Smythe up already.  "Hey Greenlee." Alison said sitting across from her at the kitchen table. "Ali." Greenlee said looking up from the news paper. "Why are you up so early?" "I wanted to get going as soon as you were awake." "You ready to go now?" "Hell yeah." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Pine Valley) "Leo!" Erica Cane, Leo's house mate, called coming down the stairs. "I'm in the kitchen!" He called. Erica rushed to the kitchen. 'Please don't be starting a fire. 'She prayed. She walked into the kitchen and saw Leo making eggs.  "What the hell do you think your doing?" She asked in total shock. "I'm making eggs. You want any?" He asked putting some on a plate. "Hold that thought." She said turning around and began walking to the bottom of the stairs. "David!!" She yelled. "What?!?!!?!"He yelled back. "I think your brothers on drugs." And with that David was down the stairs in a matter of seconds. "Leo?" He asked walking into the kitchen. Leo looked up from the eggs he was cooking. David sighed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness" He said. "What? Thank goodness?" Erica asked sitting down. "Leo's not on drugs, he wants something." David said taking Leo's plate of eggs and he sat next to Erica. 'Ugh. 'Leo thought. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Port Charles) "So, Greens, how'd you meet Alison?" Jamal asked as they all sat down to eat. "Our parents were old friends and they used to plan combined vacations for our to family's." "Yeah." "Yeah." "So, Greens you got anybody back in Pine Valley?" Alison asked glancing at Jamal. "Well, not really." She said thinking about Leo. "Sure, there's not." Alison said as Greenlee started to blush. "Is it that Ryan guy?" "EWWWW! That's just nasty to even think! "Greenlee said a little to loud. "So it's that Leo guy huh." "Maybe. So, are we going to order or what?" "Yeah, yeah, yeah we'll order." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Pine Valley) "So, let me get this strait, you want to go to Port Charles, New York to find Greenlee and tell her you love her/."Erica asked looking at him from across the table. "Not to tell her how I feel just to let her snobby friend know what she's really like here in Pine Valley." Leo said rather smugly. "Well that's a mighty big plan to go see some one you don't love." David said laughing. "Shut up." Leo said throwing a roll at David's head. "Hey!" David said picking up another one and throwing it at him. "Boy's, boy's, boy's. Stop that right now! Leo, I'm going to Port Charles tomorrow and if you want to come you can." "Thank you!" Leo said jumping up. "I'm going to go pack now!" "Ok." Erica said laughing. "I don't love her." David said imitating Leo. "Erica! Do you have any film I can borrow???"Leo called from his room. "Yeah hold on." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (The next day. Erica Kane's jet over New York.) "So ,How long do you think it'll take us to get there?" Leo asked looking out the window. "Not much longer, ok. And remember breath once in a while." "Ok." He said taking a big breath of air." Erica do you think she has a thing for me?" "Greenlee? Hell yeah. Remember when I found you two in my bed? You looked like that's the way you were supposed to be. Wrapped in each others arms I mean not in my bed with melted ice cream containers on it." "Really?" "Yes. Now calm down you will see her soon enough." "Yeah, ok." Very soon." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Recovery room) "So Greens what do you want to do tonight seeing that you stayed home last night writing letters to that Leo guy."Jamal asked as they all sat down at the bar. "So I was really pathetic last night. So what?" Greenlee asked. "Well Greens there's this big party tomorrow night you wanna go?" "Sure it sounds like fun." Greenlee said plastering on a fake smile. It didn't sound like fun. Now it would sound like if Leo were here. You get him drunk put a lamp shade on his head now that's fun. "So what do you wanna do now? You two have hit every store here." Jamal asked drinking some of his Dr. Pepper. "I'd like to see were Alison works actually." "Ok then. On to the hospital!" Jamal said as they all got up. "Thanks a lot Jamal." Alison whispered. "What did I do?" He asked smiling. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (The hospital) "I told you Leo don't get into fights with Cab drivers and what do you do get into a fight with a mean one." Erica said as Leo got his face stitched up. "Erica, Erica ,Erica please shut up." Leo said as he flinched in pain seeing the needle come towards his face. "So, is he your son ma'am?" Dr. Thornheart asked as Leo started to laugh. "That was good!" Leo said in between laughs as Erica looked him in shock. "Do you know who I am?" She asked. "Um, I don't know who?" "I am Erica Kane." She said holding her head high. "Ok." "Doctor Thornheart?" Alison asked peeking her head in the examining room. "Yes Alison?" He asked finishing the last of the stitches. "I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, Greenlee this is Dr. Ian Thornheart. Dr. Thornheart this is my friend Greenlee Smythe." With those words Leo shifted his eyes up towards them. "Hello Dr. Thornheart." Greenlee said and then asked in surprise "Leo?!?!?!" "Greens, hey." Leo asked as the stitches got finished. "What are you doing here?" She asked rushing to his side. "Here in Port Charles? Or here in the hospital?" He asked. "The hospital." She said looking at his stitches. "I got into a fight with a cab driver." "Leo Dupresse got into a fight with a cab driver?" She asked surprised. "Yes. Now what is Greenlee Smythe doing at a hospital?" "I'm here with my friends Jamal and Alison." She said pointing to them. "Hi." They said. "Hi guys." Leo said "Ok, Mr. Dupresse, you are free to leave." Ian said coming back in. "Ok, cool doc." "Come on Leo." Greenlee said as Leo got up. "He can come over to my place." Alison said smiling because even she could see the chemistry between the two of them. "Ok." Greenlee said as Leo slipped his hand into her's. "I bet you 20 bucks that by the time she leaves she has told him that she loves him." Alison whispered. "No, no, no, Leo defiantly will tell her first." "So, do we have a bet?" "You bet." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Later at Alison's house) "Ok, the hamburgers are on the grill. Alison come help me with them." Jamal said peaking his head inside. He was wearing a big cooks hat and an apron that said kiss the cook. "Ok, you guys feel free to have some of my parents wine, or vodka. What ever you find to drink you can have." Alison said before she left to go outside. "You want some vodka?" Leo asked pouring himself some. "No thanks." "What is up with you Greens? I mean back in Pine Valley you used to get drunk without even thinking twice about it and now around your rich friends you don't even touch the stuff." Leo asked sitting down across from her in a chair. "Well Leo" Greenlee said standing up "when your pregnant you aren't really supposed to drink alcoholic any thing. Ok."

Merciless by Ashley

His face was still tense, even in sleep, his mouth twisting with pain. Short breaths, wheezing and shallow, and the panic crawled up Alison's spine at the sound of Jamal's struggle for air as the bullet wound in his side took its toll.

She forced herself to sit by his bedside instead, trying to ignore the rushing sound of her own heartbeat pounding through her ears. A touch against the wound in his side to check if it was still bleeding and he moaned, then twitched away from her hand as if burnt.

"I'm sorry," she choked. "Jamal ..."

His lips parted slightly but no sound came out.

Panic again and she suddenly grew angry. This was insane and he must think she was some sort of damned fool and oh God, he looked like he was dying. Not just sick, not just hurt ... but dying.

Dying.

Alison reached out and gingerly touched his hand. Still warm, still alive. She entwined her fingers with his and her pulse calmed slightly when she felt him squeeze back in response, his hand tight around hers.

He had such soft skin, she mused deliriously and Alison remembered when she'd once teased him about it, about how his skin was nicer than hers and what fun it had been to watch his sullen response.

//Come on spill, Jamal. Nutragena?//

//What are you talking about?//

//Ooooh ... Clinque then. How posh.//

//You ain't never gonna shut up, are you?//

//A big secret, huh? Come're. I'll find out what it is.//

Kisses followed that conversation, her lips light against his cheeks and brow and she had to duck away from his annoyed swats more than once. Maybe he was a little more than annoyed, irritated even, but somewhere ... somewhere in his brown eyes she could see the little spark that said more than words ever could. A spark of interest ... affection ...

Or something infinitely softer.

She only wished he would open those eyes now so to see the soft emotions she knew must have been obvious in hers.

He was sweating profusely and Alison washed his face off again, the washcloth hot and clammy in her fist and Jamal leaned into her touch, no longer asleep, but not yet fully awake.

The dry, pale lines around his lips frightened her as did the sluggish throb working slowly through his neck. He looked as if he were fading, shrinking into himself, lost beneath the light covering of blanket.

He looked as if he were dying.

Her hands trembled and she wondered dimly what he would have done if the situation were reversed -- if she had been shot instead of him. She could have easily imagined herself bundled in his arms, his loud, angry curses sounding through the hallway of his building and the fierce words he'd use to keep her awake and alive as he drove like a madman to the hospital.

Would he have let her lie there like this and slowly fade away?

Would he have let her die?

No, she didn't think so. He would have fought for her with everything he had, dragging her kicking and screaming back to life whether she'd agreed to it or not.

He would have been merciless.

Alison's mouth set into a hard line. Well, what was good for the goose ...

She dipped the washcloth into the small bowl of cool water she'd kept beside him and two swift wrings later she'd carefully washed his face again, then his neck, followed by the inside of his arms.

He shifted again, his eyelids fluttering and she leaned in close, her mouth hovering above his. More kisses then, soft against his lips and eyes and fevered cheeks and he made no move to escape her touch.

Instead he relaxed, his hand rising slowly, painfully and he touched her hair, smoothing it away from her brow.

She closed her eyes against his touch and grasped his hand again, squeezing it hard before bringing his fingers to her lips, kissing them gently. Soft, so very soft were his hands even after the lifetime of pain and work they'd known.

She set his hand down carefully and without a backward glance, she reached for the phone.

It was time to be merciless.
