~Practise~Whirl~
A mechanical pencil drawing of my dog, Chatta. He’s a shelter rescue, who was an hour or less away from being euthanized when I got him. He’s a mixed breed- perhaps chow chow, golden retriever, and/or shiba inu? He’s a poof, whatever he is. My next (fifth) book will be on how to draw dogs like this. I’ll post more information when it is available.

Whirl from the amazing MTMTE. Look, he’s so happy. Drawn for a friend who loves Whirl and made me a big fan of him, too. I need more Whirl in my life. We all need more Whirl in our lives. Whirl is very complicated to draw, but a lot of fun once you start getting the hang of him.
I remember reading IDW's Transformers comics' "International Incident" storyline (which was part of the Costa era) and the issues that came before or after that story arc. (Sometime around 2010.) All the Combaticons except Blast Off showed up on the Earth at some point or another. I always wondered why Blast Off never did. So I created this comic as my personal head canon explanation as to why he never showed: He *was* there with the others in the beginning, but then Vortex got bored..... I imagine a bored Vortex is not someone you want to have to deal with on a regular basis, especially if you're a rather fussy, egotistical space shuttle who just wants some dignity. This interaction was probably just the final straw out of many interactions. I tried to replicate the "look" of the comic issues the Combaticons showed up in, including the color schemes and general look of the cityscapes. Since Blast Off never showed up, I had to wing his appearance, using some IDW-based ideas plus his original G1 appearance. Transformers comics are (c) Hasbro and IDW.... Go read some today! (Though I'd recommend "More Than Meets the Eye" first and foremost...)

Combaticons: Instruments of Destruction... I decided to try my hand at all of the Combaticons, my favorite Combiner/gestalt team of Transformers. I've liked these guys since the 80s cartoon and was very happy they appeared in the recent Fall of Cybertron game. This was drawn on Bristol Board with mechanical pencil (and some 2B pencil), using lots of smudging and kneaded eraser techniques, then colored in Photoshop. I based the designs off the G1 cartoon, but occasionally used other references- for instance, I like Blast Off's arms in his toy mode more than the cartoon, so I went with that.

Hound at the Grand Canyon. Haven't uploaded this here yet- so here it is! With this, I combined two things I love: Nature and Transformers. Hound was, of course, the perfect Transformer for the job. His bio mentions how he'd rather be visiting a place like the Grand Canyon, so I've always wanted to draw him there. I've been to the GC about 10 times (I do live in Arizona :) ). I've drawn and watercolored it several times but never colored it in Photoshop before. So this whole piece was one giant digital coloring exercise for me- contrasting Hound's metallic surface with the rough and crumbling rock and cloudy sky. I actually went out and photographed a jeep in a nearby parking lot, as well as some of my Hound toys, to get reference on how light and reflections play on surfaces.
One of the cool wildlife species I've seen at the GC include the re-introduced California Condors. Well, you may notice that one of these condors doesn't quite seem to belong ;) ... when I thought of the CA condors I thought of Laserbeak and knew he had to be in there, too. Here he's hiding among the flock, keeping an eye on the Autobot below.
The Scavengers from the Transformers comic "More Than Meets the Eye" put together a logo made of- what else?- scavenged objects and attempt to pose with it. It does not go very smoothly. Misfire can't aim a camera very well, either.
