Excuse you. The unnecessary sass can be directed somewhere else. I know this is the internet, and deciphering things are hard, but, that was me kind of not caring about you learning something on the piano. And, then turning the subject onto me because I’m awesome.
I obviously don’t really know how to read sheet music.

That song is absolutely fantastic and if I could play piano, I would totally be teaching myself to play it, too. If you ever want someone to sing it with you, let me know, ‘cause I’d totally be up for that.
As I told Elliott just now, it's a pretty simple melody, so even if you don't know how to play piano, it would be easy to pick up. Oh? I may take you up on that. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to perform it anywhere.

I memorized the lyrics ages ago, and the melody is fairly simple. I have it pretty much memorized now.

I've been obsessed with this song ever since the first time I heard it. And it feels a little too relevant.
Me too, J. Me too. Wait, you mean I make my first friend and you’re gonna be leaving after this semester? That sounds pretty nice, y’know, having someone else.
Well, on the bright side, this semester did just start. Which as far as I can tell is the only thing that could make that fact more bearable. And it certainly is.
Jesse St. James, flattery will get you ( everywhere ) nowhere. And I would tell you, I would, but I can’t risk you dropping by unexpectedly by chance on the right evening, at the right time, say for example tomorrow night around nine o’ clock at that spot right outside the city limits — you know, the one with the awful sushi and wonderful long island ice teas.
I find that I have a few talents that could get me anywhere and anything I want. Oh? I may have heard of it, but to admit that would also be admitting that I'll be there.
Oh. Still, I’m sure whatever she’s feeling right now will blow over and you two will be back to your best friendage soon. I’m glad to hear they don’t mistreat you, otherwise I’d have to kick their asses. How about we both feel like we don’t belong together? Because I’ve been here three years, and I still feel like an outsider.

Yeah, but I sort of dropped the "I have/had feelings for you" bomb. So. That's true. And I'm fortunate in the fact that they don't mistreat me, but it's still somewhat frustrating to be stuck here when I don't feel as though I belong.

No, that’s it St. James, I do take it back, because no one of a sound virtue would jump to such a drastic assumption. ( Though for what it’s worth, I would like to think I’m better than Sherlock Holmes when it comes to seeing the good in others. ) Oh no, I’m not brazen enough to let go on campus — I do my karaoke in the county over.
I stand by it, fearless leader. Whether that ruins any chance of discovering my virtuousness or not.

I have a kit, it came with my Sherlock boxset, don’t test me St. James or I’ll deduce the virtue right out of you. Well, I can’t say there was a sober side in the building last night. Let’s leave it at I attempted a Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake mash up, and I think —.. there might have been some Mariah thrown in for good measure.

I don’t know, I think I see some virtue in you, if I squint fairly hard that is. I’ll have you know that along with serving the sober with slurred sentiments and intoxicated entertainment — the drunk also make for wonderful karaoke partners. ( And by the way, that’s definitely not knowledge I obtained from first hand experience. )

You might need a microscope to see some virtue in me. No? Would this not-firsthand experience be on the drunk side or the sober side, hypothetically?
In that case—.. perhaps you have been drinking a bit too much.
That they are, though in their defense it is what they do best; that’s a good thing. A really good thing and especially for those that do tend to consume more than they might be able to handle. A guaranteed safe trip home, shoes everywhere being spared of a tragic outcome, maybe you really are a saint, St. James.
Or maybe you're just clever and I appreciate that.
I'm not even close to sainthood. I don't mind giving my friends a ride home, especially considering that drunk people are oftentimes truly hilarious.
