Inkfall 1 and 2 November 2023 | Studio one day I decided to see what would happen with ink and water in a glass. I can't remember how or where I got the idea, but here's some of it. Ink Ring:

I can't remember which came first, which was the main goal of the shoot. the rings or the inkfall. It was mainly supposed to be shot on film, although these are the digitals that were shot as part of the film shoot or as part of the experiment to see what needed to be done to capture it on film. It's been three years I can't remember well enough

It looks like it was placed there, the burn hadn't reached the band but it only had a little bit of time left. Did it burn out on it's own or was it extinguished? how long has it been there? does the user plan to come back and get it later?

Brunch October 2025 | Huntsville Alabama it was a decently cool fall morning. and I had chosen to use the 85mm lens, it's not what most people consider a 'street photography' lens, but why not? Not a lot was jumping out at me, but when I saw this group having brunch across the street I tucked next to a historic marker sign and waited for the intersection to clear.

While riding through town I happened to have my camera in hand, and there she was. It was her fashion choices that caught my attention first.

She was waiting at the cross walk, minding her own business, talking to someone on her phone.

I lifted my camera and snapped the shutter, I didn't know if my settings were right, and I couldn't see through the viewfinder, it was reflexes.

A random moment.

Brief.

Fleeting.

Now frozen in time.

After the Latin Mass October 2024 | Knoxville Tennessee - Holy Ghost Catholic Church Walking into the church, even hours after the Latin Mass has ended the scent of incense is often strong. But this Sunday evening it was stronger than usual. So much so that a noticeable haze lingered over the whole church, I didn't expect to catch light rays beaming through the west facing window, but the haze adds a contrast to the image. I'm glad to have stepped in early.

A Well Lit Reading Chair March 2024 | Jefferson City TN ( public library) Digital The nostalgic light that flows through windows. Midday. My sister and I were visiting the local library and I went looking for that light, it was the right time of day, those days when sitting in the sunlit part of a climate controlled place, looking out the window and watching the people outside going about their lives. listening to the bustle or silence surrounding you. Maybe it's the clinic, maybe it's the class room, maybe it's a library somewhere far away, in the sense of both space and time.

Look at the time. February 2024 Digital Notes: my sister ot a new job , and while visiting her new workplace, was standing near a window, and noticed a sliver of light. it reminds me of what I call Kirk lighting (due to it's use in Star Trek, mostly on William Shatner) and that I should make a modifier to get that effect with a light stand.

It was a yearly concert called Soul Stock, and that year the featured musicians were Rebecca St. James and Chris Tomlin. (is that how he spells his name?) This guy in the picture was the guitarist for RstJ. I didn't edit the image, this is straight from the negative scan.

One man, and his dog. January 2024 | Tennessee Digital Notes: it's rare that we get snow in this region. it's even more rare for that snow to to accumulate and stick around for more than a few hours, this was around 7-8 inches (19- 20cm) of snow and it stayed for about a week. this was the first day.
