They Are Not Just Words

Recently, a good friend told me that they were afraid to tell someone they loved them for fear of losing them as a friend ... Not knowing what their answer may be.

Here’s what I said...

There’s no bad time to tell someone you love them. It doesn’t have to be an earth shaking, down deep, would-take-a-bullet-for-you kind of, “I love you“. I know of no one who wouldn’t at least appreciate what the thought really is. If he or she knows your heart, it may turn into something more serious. At the very least, you have a friend that will know you care! There’s always room for love!

Defeat

When the realization finally sets in and I look around to run, but there is no escaping from it. I have rusted in place feeling worthless and broken.

The time has all but expired. There is no possibility of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat... it has me in its grasp. I can feel its needle sharp teeth penetrate me.

Soon it will be over and no matter how I struggle against it, defeat will finally win. No more chances. No hope of winning. I have faced it once too often. There's nothing more to be done but surrender ... and rust away in the rain.
