anyway did you know that my james has The Most Irrational Fear and they’re irrational because you would think that he is fine but he is, in fact, not fine ! like fear of heights ? check ! but how can he be afraid of heights when he plays quidditch? that’s very easy actually; he feels invincible and all powerful on his broom and like there is nothing he can’t achieve on it - which is why he spends so much time on its upkeep. but take away his broom and it’s like he is standing in front of a crowd of hundreds, naked and vulnerable. this brings me to his next Irrational Fear. public speaking ! but how does someone so confident and so arrogant like james who loves attention like he is tinkerbeII and he needs it to live fear public speaking? again, very easy. he’ll do just about anything to garner attention on his own but if you give him a speech and saddle him with expectations and the responsibility of getting it right on the first and only try or suffer the disappointment of his elders he does as you would expect: he freezes.

okay but the reason why james and lily worked so well by the time that they did realise they had feelings for each other is because they’d been friends all along and knew each other as intimately as two friends can. they had a solid foundation on top of which to build everything that came after which is where all the trust between them and care and affection comes from!
