It use to be easy to carry on, and joke about. Prank people I didn't like. Or start fights that I knew could end in MY victory. But it all seems different now. I keep losing-- lost Dumbledore, Lily-- and I feel I am losing my friends. There is a reason...

Hey guys,

I join a decent amount of roleplays. And enjoy playing in different worlds, characters, just everything!! And it is always sad when this comes. This is the second group in three years I’ve been apart of that has closed that I really enjoyed. (Ugh thank you for that!!!) I have always found it hard to put anything to words about these things which is hilarious being that we are writers XD but even though it’s the end it was fun!! So I hold no sadness! Just happiness we got to play! Truly. It’s so hard to find people to write with!! Like you wouldn’t think so but it really is challenging to grapple amazing people and bring them together. I appreciate you all so much. It’s so important to keep in touch– you all are gems.

I probably won’t be active on my indie much cause the muse died! (Maybe it will pick up again I dunno!!) But I have been apart of an active multipara original supernatural medieval roleplay for three years now that I currently spend most of my time in (besides what was my FN time!) and if you are interested in chatting about it you can message me on James’ account (I won’t remove his blog at all!) and I can pass you the link if you are looking around. If anyone sets anything up as well (other rps) just skype me or hit me here. I’m very interested in seeing where everyone wants to play next!

“Ah, it’s fine!” Tilden insisted. “Just a little less next time maybe.” Bruised ribs were something he’d rather avoid - he injured himself enough with his skateboard. Getting himself wrapped up in bandages like a mummy probably wouldn’t be the best for working in the flower shop. “You need to stop working so hard. If you’re not careful you’re gonna get sick. Well, I suppose that it’s a good thing you have Benjy.”

Ten bouquets. That’d be simple enough. It’d take him, what, a few hours at most? “Oh, is that a list?” That’d make things easier for him time-wise, although perhaps not as much when it came to crafting. “Let’s see…” He followed James over to the table. “Really?” He asked, stifling a chuckle at the paper James had used. “Don’t the department give you guys notebooks?”

Eyes scanning down the list, he nodded. “It shouldn’t be a problem. Are there any particular flowers you’re thinking of or…?” Tilden shook his head. “It’s so not stupid! I think it’s quite sweet. Shows you’ve put a lot of thought into rather than just asking me to put any old bouquet together. I mean, you can say a lot with flowers. Although it’s kinda gone out of style since the Victorians. Flowers and herbs and everything in between has a meaning. For example,” he plucked an orange rose from one of the containers. “this means fascination. And this,” he plucked a red rose. “can mean both love and respect.”

Relief flooded the officer. His large, calloused palms leaning heavily on the table. “I want it kind of cheesy, mostly cause it wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t taken just a hair too far. Plus-- I dunno, I have missed him,” he added lamely, and awarded Tilden with a curious expression about the flowers. He’s heard enough about flowers and plants to last him a lifetime. Their entire house was covered in green. Plants littered every flat surface, in the windows, even cactus and vegetables. But he never took the time to learn the art side of it, and he just knew...just knew Tilden would add the extra layer to his surprise. 

“Tilden,” he reached out to take one of the roses, bringing it to his nose to scent it’s pretty fragrance. “Is there anyway we can go with a color theme to match how I felt with each date? Cause I mean, the last one was when I proposed...” He trailed off, “but he’d know what the colors meant right? And the certain flowers? That’s what I want. I want him to remember without me having to label anything.”

How is possible in the mists of the Mafia raging war on our city, the world somehow remains so bright? Like there isn’t danger I can’t face when I put on my vest and badge and walk out the door into the dead of night. I feel it. Taunting me. The darkness whispering that things are getting worse and yet I don’t fall into the sights I see. The death. The chase. The crime and violence behind the world I live in while everyone innocent sleeps. How do I survive it really? How is it even possible?

With her occupation weird hours were a given. She’d been texting Mary all evening and so she knew her wife was still awake, studying hard. Emme had decided that a quick stop to pick up a couple of bottles of coffee would be good. Mary could probably use a break and from the sound of her texts the coffee too. She was contemplating buying sugar too. Coffee and donuts just went together too well, even iced coffee. She laughed at Officer Potter’s teasing despite the fact that maybe what she’d been doing hadn’t exactly been legal. That was something Emme liked to forget about. “Caffeine break,” she told him holding up the bottles in her hand.

She smiled at his offer and shook her head. “That’s sweet but I’ve gotta get my wife one too. If I show up with donut breath and no donut for her she might make me sleep in the jeep.” Probably not but better to not risk it. “Are they good here? I figure you’d be an excellent judge of donuts,” she teased him cheekily.

“ Emmeline, you think Benjy would let me get away with the same thing ?” he laughed, pouring a generous amount of cream into his coffee over any sugar. James had a couple minutes to refuel as he had worded it to his partner who was in the soda aisle also making a few purchases. “They are surprisingly the best around midnight because of that reason right there--” he nodded towards the donut truck backing up towards the door. It’s red break lights illuminating the glass. 

 “They bring fresh ones right now, I buy up the day old ones for half price usually. Hand them out to a few people I know on the streets. Sometimes it takes a donut to start a necessary conversation to keep the kids off the streets at night--” he shrugged, putting a lid on his coffee. “I’m sorry for the canceled lunch with Benjy this weekend by the way. It’s my fault really.” An amused grin stretched almost boyishly on his face. “I haven’t been able to gauge if hes willing to be surprised or he wants to try to spoil what I have planned.”

“Oh no.” His response was immediate the moment James said bare with me, though it was in good nature of course. Benjy had lived with James’ ideas and antics for a while now–they were married, after all–and knew the difference (or, he liked to think that he did) between small things and things that he’d have to convince the other man not to do. He kept quiet and let James talk, raising an eyebrow in amusement and curiosity, stepping over to the sink to dry the dishes while James washed.

“You’re working on something for me?” Benjy repeated, picking up a bowl to start drying. He wondered what it could possibly be, especially considering that James slept most days because of his night shift hours. “Well, I was thinking about taking Mary and Emmeline out for lunch, but that’s not solid. I think I can give you my weekend.” Benjy grinned at James and turned around, leaning back against the counter. “So what are we doing?”

“Yes--” he responded without giving more away. “You can’t know if it’s a surprise. I would have just sprung it on you but I didn’t want to be rude to your friends if you made plans.” Mary and Emmeline would understand, he will actually text them later so they can gossip about his surprise and make his husband frustrated he’s the only one who doesn’t know what’s happening. 

“You’d make a poor detective,” he laughed vibrantly, happiness blossoming heavily and gratefully in his chest. He was reminded constantly how fortunate he was to have someone so grounded as Benjy as his partner. James was reckless and aggressive on the force when necessary, running into houses at gun point, and making arrests after chasing people down. He works the most dangerous routes, and nights when crime rose naturally by choice. And yet all the rush from his job could barely compare. The only important person in the world was two steps away. It was overwhelming how someone so kind and perfect could love him of all people. 

He was starring stupidly at his husband, lost in his thoughts and dripping water everywhere on the floor. “Um, you missed an important clue,” he grinned a stupid smile. “I am off all weekend. Do you realize how long its been? Nearly two years. I’m going to make it count-- you game?”

Tilden looked up from tightening the screws on his board as the bell (and the yelling) signaled James’ arrival in the shop. Setting the wrench down on the counter next to the board, he moved around the counter and towards the middle of the room where he was wrapped up in a hug. Wrapping his arms around James, he patted the other man lightly on the back. “As nice as this is, you’re squeezing the air out of me!”

“Based on that look on your face I’m not sure I want to know.” Tilden laughed. “Come on then, out with it before you burst!”

“Im sorry! I have more strength in the squeeze than I ever realize,” he blushed brightly along his ears, and down the back of his neck but barreled on. Always a whirlwind James Potter was. “Why not?” James teased, poking his friend. “I got off this entire weekend-- do you know how long it’s been? I can’t...yeah. I think it’s been two years at least unless I took off for a vacation.” 

He palmed his face, trying not to let that little piece of information upset him in anyway. Benjy knew what he was getting into marrying a bloke like him whose need to keep the city safe came with some sacrifices to their home life. James was going to makeup for it though. 

“I need you to make me ten bouquets,” he said wildly, slipping his fingers into his inside pocket to pull out a piece of paper, and embarrassingly his glasses. He set them on his nose, moving to a table to flatten his ideas out. (which happened to be on a warrant blank print out from the precinct) “See. All our big important dates. Paris. That coffee shop down the street. I want each one to represent each date so he has to guess and we can be sappy. You think you can match flowers to all these?” James paused just a moment in hesitation-- relying on Tilden to be honest with him here. “It’s not a stupid idea is it?”

“Ok, bare with me here--” James started his thoughts quite spectacularly, pausing to take a generous sip of his beer after their dinner. The sink was full of their mess, and he was taking the time to clean everything up in that obsessive way he could get sometimes. He was laughing a little, amusement clearly making it’s way to dominate across all his micro expressions. 

“But I am working on something for you this weekend. So you need to keep yourself available--” he knew he’d probably be asleep most of the morning after his Friday night shift, but he was planning on getting up earlier than usual. And he much rather not wake to an empty house. “Unless you have plans, then I gotta negotiate don’t I?” He tested with a narrowed, pretend angry look. “What’s the terms to laying claim for your entire weekend love?”

“TILDEN!” James barreled into the space in civilian clothes, though still wore a gun in a holster on his hip and carried his badge. Excitement was electric around Potter in that knowing way to his friends. Clearly he was up to something, and he was set on dragging Tilden with him on this. “There you are!” the second he spotted his friend he rushed over, wrapping him up in a squeezing hug. 

“You are not going to believe what I have planned, can I have some of your time today?” he asked with an award winning Cheshire grin stretching wide.

midnight / convenient store [open]

“You want a donut? I know...I know. Totally stereotypical of me. But I WANT one, need to boost my sugar intake around this time and get a coffee. What are you doing up this late? Up to no good?” he was teasing, though with James he always spoke in a way that clearly meant he wasn’t entirely playing around. As an officer who worked mostly nights he found himself always needing to be on alert. Even when making coffee in a gas stop-- but that didn’t stop James’ personality to seep through and make everyone around him some how lured to his side. He was always seen buying the homeless treats, and making them sandwiches. The nice guy vibe unavoidable. 

“Come on-- my treat. Speak up so people can hear ya! What do you want?”

Spells flew around him, bounced off of walls and bodies. He took a stunner to the chest, but managed to grunt and push through it, shooting a cutting curse in the direction it had come from. He didn’t pay attention long enough to see if it made contact. There was pain in his chest but he was good at ignoring pain – when you dealt with the agony of your body shifting, contorting, with skin stretching and bones break once a month for nearly thirty years, it was easy to ignore pain.

“Oh grow up,” he snarled, “nothing happened to you. You didn’t lose your badge, you didn’t get hurt because of it, you didn’t lose friends.”

Battle was not the place to be having this conversation though, for Fenrir to point out all the stupidity in James’ words but a spell struck James in the chest and the boy – for he really was just a boy – fought for breath. He placed a hand on James’ back, trying to keep him steady. Which was stupid, probably, but it was an instinct – an instinct from his years with his pack. Most wolves were of the ‘nature-over-nurture’ philosophy but Fenrir wasn’t. He knew that they needed nurture. He knew because he had needed it, and he wasn’t going to let history repeat itself if he could help it.

James managed to throw an attack back at the person who had cursed him but he was still gasping for breath. Fuck. He’d thought maybe it’d been a stunner to the chest that had knocked the breath out of him but this didn’t seem to be that. Fuck fuck fuck. It occurred to him that he shouldn’t care; that he should maybe finish James off and then continue with the battle, but he wouldn’t. James, naive and optimistic, was fighting for what he believed in – for a better world. That was something that deserved to be protected. If anyone asked later, he’d just say it was payment for James’ help.

“What do you need?”

James somehow laughed through a gasping breath at the werewolf. It was manic sounding with the explosions and spells cutting lights across the air. His eyes were blown wide and knowing, sarcastic in only a way Potter could manage in a shit storm. Pressing his wand to his chest, he muttered the counter spell to what he hoped was the right one. The pressure to his chest collapsed. The urge to pass out was great. Slip into the comfort of darkness if only for a few minutes so he could lessen the concern he had for his friends. 

“Admit it-- you like me,” he rolled to the side, an internal shift that pulled from James’ animagus form. He was joking-- teasing in the battle. But he was alert and ready. Blood smeared across his cheek while he pressed his fingers into the tight burn from the curse that had hit his chest. Another scar probably to add to the countless others...each one chipping away at the young man who once held the high hope of playing Quidditch for the rest of his life until this threat of war hit while he was in school. 

He was in a dueling stance, but his eyes weren’t on the surrounding but on Fenrir. “So-- still friend or foe,” he wheezed out, his breathing still irregular. Tight to induce the strain left over from the curse. He swept to the side-- a childish grin twitching on his lips while he pointed his wand at the wolf. “I’d much rather think we could have a bit of fun if we work together-- but I wonder for the rumors. So tell me what you need so we can fight.”

“I know…trust me, I know.” Dorcas whispered as she buried her face against his chest, closing her eyes tightly. Wishing that when she opened her eyes again, things would be completely different. The war would have never happened. Friends would still be alive. Peter would still be on their side. There was no worrying or being terrified. Oh, how she wished that when she opened her eyes that would all be true. She would never say it aloud, of course. She simply figured everyone else felt the same way. It was hard to believe that there were people who’re so oblivious to the world that they had no idea of anything going on, or that there were people who knew of what was happening but chose to take no part in the effort to solve and fix things, especially while there were people, like herself, like James, who risked their lives every single day trying to fix the messes that had been made.

She only kept her eyes shut tighter as he continued to speak. She didn’t want to remember the battles, she didn’t want to imagine what James had gone through with the kidnapping. She didn’t want those images in her mind replaying over and over again. Her name was on this list. She should have been kidnapped, she should have been the one tortured. She should have gone back to help them all. For the rest of her life, she would have to deal with the guilt. The guilt that she had gotten away with barely a scratch and her friends would be dealing with wounds both physical and mentally from this incident for the rest of their lives. Just to even think about it made her sick to her stomach.

“You don’t think I know that he is? I do. I know and it pains me to even think about it. What could I have done differently? Could I have stopped this? Was it something I did? I thought he trusted me. I thought he trusted you. I don’t know why this happened, I don’t know why I feel sorry for him, but I do and it hurts. It hurts because I know that there’s a valid case against him and I know you will do your job because you’re excellent at it.” Dorcas whispered, finally opening her eyes to look up at him.

It was always a sad truth to know you weren’t alone in being betrayed. Those were the scars that Peter left behind. Carving into all those he loves or loved. Leaving them bleeding with begging still on their tongues for his return. Loyal the lot of them were-- and he didn’t see it. Didn’t think he was worth this amount of love. 

“Me either,” he deflated entirely, feeling his shoulders slump. And his tall body curl around Doe so they could offer some equal baring of weight. A huffed laugh broke free from his lips at her compliment in a sea of turmoil about their long lost friend. “Yes, well. That is quite expected of me as well.” A light dusting of color hit the tips of his ears, “but I don’t want to be in this case...but that makes me no better than our enemies. There are too many of us that need closure for people to not be brought and tried.”

James still held this hopeful outlook that they could do this by the books. Without the job making James a killer too. There was heroics, and there was walking that line. He knew the taunting it could hold. To try to entice him to break some rules if it benefited him-- but he won't do it. Not even with Peter...if he must. He will carry that burden. 

“Alright, I’m tired...” He laughed a sad sound, shifting his weight so he could drive them towards his small house. “I didn’t sleep much, then ran. So. You want to stay?”

He laughed quietly at James’ shock despite himself, and maybe that sounded a bit mean, but Benjy didn’t mean it that way at all. He was just surprised that James Potter was shocked that Benjy would want to go to one of his parties; granted, he supposed he didn’t do the party scene too much (surprisingly–especially considering how much he liked to mingle with people), but the surprise on the Gryffindor’s face infected him a bit.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I go?” he asked, head tilting to the side. “You’re a good guy, James–” Outside, perhaps, a few pranks that his group pulled. “–and I’m glad that you want to invite me.” Chocolate and mint. Benjy made himself a mental reminder, deciding that he’d have to find a way to either have the house elves make him some combination of that for a treat, or find the time to head to Hogsmeade before the party. It was a start, at least. “That’s a good combination. I like it.”

Benjy’s head straightened a bit, and he bit his lip as he thought of an answer. “Because we don’t have the same friend group? Or circle?” That was the most he could offer, after all; he and his friends had a different idea of fun than James and his friends, it seemed like. “That can change, you know.”

“Yeah..., I know I’m a good guy,” he quirked a sarcastic smile, he was baiting for compliments but not because he needed to hear them. But more out of intense curiosity how others saw him beyond the Gryffindor pride, and blaring Marauder persona. His eyes trailed to the indention of teeth to lip, watching carefully for a few quick seconds to watch it’s decompression when Benjy continued to speak. 

“You’re probably right,” he shrugged, almost finding it a poor reason to not chat with someone proper who shared numerous classes with, and watched a handful of years pass by. Or maybe it was just because James noticed him now that it mattered. He wasn’t usually alone like he had been on the other side of the tree nose burrowed into his book. 

“You have a girl friend or boy friend?” the teenager blurted out before his brain could filter him. “I mean-- you know. You can bring them too if you do.”
