@jamessssspotter
RIP James Pootah
The night wet and windy, two children dressed as pumpkins waddling across the square, and the shop windows covered in paper spiders, all the tawdry Muggle trappings of a world in which they did not believe. . . . And he was gliding along, that sense of purpose and power and rightness in him that he always knew on these occasions. . . . Not anger . . . that was for weaker souls than he . . . but triumph, yes. . . . He had waited for this, he had hoped for it. . . . “Nice costume, mister!” He saw the small boy’s smile falter as he ran near enough to see beneath the hood of the cloak, saw the fear cloud his painted face: Then the child turned and ran away. . . . Beneath the robe he fingered the handle of his wand. . . . One simple movement and the child would never reach his mother . . . but unnecessary, quite unnecessary. . . . And along a new and darker street he moved, and now his destination was in sight at last, the Fidelius Charm broken, though they did not know it yet. . . . And he made less noise than the dead leaves slithering along the pavement as he drew level with the dark hedge, and stared over it. . . . They had not drawn the curtains; he saw them quite clearly in their little sitting room, the tall black-haired man in his glasses, making puffs of colored smoke erupt from his wand for the amusement of the small black-haired boy in his blue pajamas. The child was laughing and trying to catch the smoke, to grab it in his small fist. . . . A door opened and the mother entered, saying words he could not hear, her long dark-red hair falling over her face. Now the father scooped up the son and handed him to the mother. He threw his wand down upon the sofa and stretched, yawning. . . . The gate creaked a little as he pushed it open, but James Potter did not hear. His white hand pulled out the wand beneath his cloak and pointed it at the door, which burst open. He was over the threshold as James came sprinting into the hall. It was easy, too easy, he had not even picked up his wand. . . . “Lily, take Harry and go! It’s him! Go! Run! I’ll hold him off!”
Hold him off, without a wand in his hand! . . . He laughed before casting the curse. . . . “Avada Kedavra!” The green light filled the cramped hallway, it lit the pram pushed against the wall, it made the banisters glare like lightning rods, and James Potter fell like a marionette whose strings were cut.
-legit snorts- Think Malfoy only has eyes for his goonies. And maybe Blaise. And Nott. ‘Sides, we both know Parkinson won’t let Tristan anywhere near Malfoy.
Poor Tris. I’m sure that’ll break his heart.
-laughs a bit, leaning back in the chair she’s in- Happen to have any idea who this mystery, tobacco-hating bird is? Reckon she’s blonde or something.
It’s definitely a blonde. He’s been talking to Malfoy a lot.
-rolls her eyes- Something ‘bout birds not liking the taste of tobacco.
He’s such an idiot.
Don’t act like you’re not surrounded by gits who smoke all the time.
Well, Tristan is quitting, apparently.
This isn’t denial, Potter, sorry to burst your bubble. Don’t loiter ‘round corners waiting for you two to walk by. Prefer to spend my free time in places where I can smoke without being bothered.
Charming.
Elise Potter
-snorts again, grinning as he’s looking at her because she’s RIDICULOUS, and rolls his eyes- Idiot. -remembers something and sits up again, turning towards her with a more earnest expression (bc nervous)- Oh, meant t'ask you a question… So, er, there’s that Hogsmeade trip coming up in a week, and–know we usually go on our own and all, but, I sort’ve invited Tilly t'come along with us… -pauses- S’…that okay?
You love me. -raises her brow at his expression, rolling her eyes as he speaks-
Ugh, really? Why?
-rolls his eyes, leaning back into the back of the couch again and snorts- Sure, Ellie, y'bloody sugar monster. Got a problem, y'know that? Gonna end up diabetic or sommat.
Diabetic and never happier.
-sighs, leaning forward in that begging kind of way, planting his hands on the couch between them like “pls Ellie, pls”- I’ll–I’ll…take care of all the cleaning next time you’re given trophy room detention. I dunno, El, what’s worth it to you?! This prank’s gonna be brilliant, I just need you to cover this one thing.
Alright. That -- and I want your dessert for a month.
Already told you, I’ll cover for you next time Uncle Remus goes on a rant, and…dunno, what d'you want?
I can hold my own against Uncle Remus. I want something worthy of having to talk to McGonagall about my lady bits.
-huffs a sigh in embarrassment, laying his head in his hand for a moment before looking at her again- I know, I know. I was in a panic, she caught me with paint bombs all in my cloak, I just needed something to get her off my back as soon as possible. Was the first thing that came t'mind, El.
That’s shocking. -laughs- What am I gonna get in return?
-readjusts on the couch (saying they’re on a couch in the common room) the way people do when they’re getting ready to explain something- Okay, and just–hear me out. So, McGonagall nearly caught me setting up for this brill prank I’m working on–next week, just wait for it–‘nd I sort’ve told her I was only missing class because I needed to bring you some, er… -looks down cause he can’t meet her eye- “feminine things” from the common room. -glances at her to gauge her response- ’M not sure she bought it and if she asks, I need you t'cover for me.
You’re telling me, the best excuse you could come up with was that I asked you to go get me a tampon? I almost feel like I shouldn’t help you, Tris, just ‘cos of how bad that was.
I’ll bale you out next time Uncle Remus goes on one of his hour long lectures, just hear me out.
-sighs- I suppose.
What’s not genuine about, “I like your hair”? S’true, isn’t it? -groans and slumps into a chair- Don’t bloody know why it’s got to be like breaking into Gringotts to ask a bird on a date.
Sure, but she probably knows you like her hair. She knows her hair is nice. If it really is nice, she’s heard it a hundred times.
Why don’t you just -- tell her you like her?
-blanks stare- You know, m’just gonna throw your logic right back at you. We are in the same house, Potter. So m’gonna be in the common room and in class. Just like how, by some magic, we’re at the same lunch table. ‘Cause, oh look! We’re in the same house.
-rolls her eyes- You know I don’t just mean in class or in the common room. But if you wish to remain in denial. -shrugs-
