Alec saunters down the hall to his son, Jamie's room. The door is open, so he knocks on the frame.

"Hey, lad. Fancy a swim?"

Alec crosses his arms and leans against the frame. He's bundled up and ready to make the short but freezing trek to the activities center. If there's one thing he's willing to brave the cold for, it's the indoor pool.

And his family but pool first.

the blonde immediately perks up the moment he hears the familiar voice of his dad, turning around slowly as their eyes meet, "always." jamie said simply, wearing nothing but his boxers as he had yet to get dressed for the day. "the real question is, do you want me to put on swim trunks or not?"

"Fuuuuuck," he almost groaned in an exaggerated sigh. "If I knew your arse were gonna be here, I'd stayed home." He smirked, of course, teasing. The man sat up and an arm stretched out to wrap up around his nephew's back and drape over his shoulder, hooking around his neck to pull him closer. Graham pressed a kiss to the young man's forehead, bristly ginger beard to the temple a free gift with smooch. "Best not get me in trouble with your folks, boyo." Genuinely, he worried he could be a bad influence on some of the boys. He'd be infuriated if he heard any of them even attempted half the shit he had, but Graham also didn't want to be a hypocrite.

jamie let out a mock gasp of disdain, pretending as if he were offended, "absolutely rude! and here i thought you liked my arse." he teased back effortlessly. out of all of his family members, the young o'connell felt as though he was the most similar to his uncle graham. the blonde happily leaned against the other, following the older man's lead and scooching closer. his grin widened at the kiss, eyes fluttering closed momentarily as he fixated on the warm lips against his cool forehead, a sigh of content emitting from him. he really did miss graham. and he wished he got the opportunity to see him more throughout the year. but both were wild cards and pretty shit with commitments. he brought the joint to his lips and took a slow drag, "we both know i don't need your help getting into any trouble." with each word spoken, smoke enveloped out. jamie was a natural of getting into trouble all on his own. especially with his dads. he placed the joint back between graham's lips, it looked better there anyways.

Even without a puff from the lit joint pinched between his fingers and thumb, this breath would’ve been a cloud flowing from his mouth as he exhaled. Even in his 40’s, he couldn’t help but imagine himself a dragon, huffing and puffing clouds of hot smoke. It was fucking cold. He looked around at the snowy ground around him as he sat on a log somewhere between the activity center and cabins.

California spoiled him. The weather was always nice. As he pulled the coat around him a little tighter he said, “You’re a little late.” He hadn’t a clue who it was approaching. Graham’s arm reached out without looking to offer the joint to whomever joined him. It was about a third of its original size. “This is all I brought outside. You’ll have to catch me later.”

The young O'Connell boy was rarely on time, something his family knew quite well about him. He was definitely one of the wild cards of the bunch, something that could either be really charming or really destructive. It just depended on the day. And it was hard to keep Jamie in line.
