the demon gowther? dead? oh, no no no. you see when the spell lifted off mael/estarossa gowthers life force returned to him.
he's been living a humble, anonymous life in the suburbs of Liones. far away enough so the 4 (5 if you're including Elizabeth) people that would recognise him don't come across him, but close enough so he can keep an eye on them. he's good friends with hendrikson, gowther buys from him and vice versa.
When he returned, it was in the body of his young adult self. so he uses a cane to move around, though he could easily heal himself if he wanted to. he just prefers not to so it would stop him from fighting even if he is tempted to go against his pacifist ways.
furthermore, Tristan has come across him a couple times.
Doll gowther always took him out horse back riding, it was one of Tristans favorite thing to do. they'd often race, having a planned dout start and finsh line, through a part of the forest in the suburbs of Liones and coming out the other end.
Well, when Tristan was around 9 they were doing their race, as per usual, but he must've taken a wrong turn. he ended up in a small clearing, a thin river cutting though it, a few trees with apples growing on them dotted around.
and a small cabin closer to the trees.
At this point it's almost dark, and Tristan needs to get home soon or atleast be in the presence of the pink haired doll before the sun went down. that is, unless he wanted to be banned from leaving castle grounds for a week or two. not being able to come up with another option, he gets off his horse, ties it to a tree and walks slowly towards the cabin.
he knocks cautiously on the door. he has no idea who could open it, not a clue what could happen once they recognise him.
so imagine his relief when he sees the familiar yellow eyes and pink hair.
but the relief is short lived when he realises one factor that sets this eprosn apart from the gowther he knows. the person standing before him is a woman.
Tristan swallows gowthers name carefully spilling past his lips in a vocie that was barely audible over the light trickle of water.
the woman raises a brow at him, confused at how this little boy she's never seen before knows her husband's name, but fetched him for Tristan nonetheless.
Now Tristan is face to face with a tall man. blonde hair going down to the centre of his back, green eyes almost like his father's, and a cane in his left hand.
And gowther instantly recognises Tristan. instantly sees both Elizabeth and Meliodas purely on the boys face. So the smile he offers is soft, one he used on Merlin when she was a similar age as Tristan is now many times long in the past.
(do not ask me how Glariza's back aswell, I'm sure he'd find a way)
thank you gwen and art are not in love for being the only queer arthurian legend fiction I can find. and also thank you to the person who sold me a copy of it on ebay for 5 quid, which I only knew was a signed copy once it arrived. and most of all thank you lex croucher.
Arthur being forced to kill himself with excalibur, the sword only he is able to wield haunts me to this day
possibly my favourite thing about Arthur is that he's so "well, fuck you too then." both times he got betrayed, first my meliodas in season 4 then cath in season 5, he did not hesitate to try take them out. obviously he was upset but after having a little cry whilst trying to get excalibur back he was up on his feet and going for the kill. same with cath, he double checked his intentions and was literally like "alright, gonna have to kill you then."
he is not taking shit from ANYONE
seven deadly sins our modern universe au where estarossa is just mael in his emo phase and the demon gowther is his piercer and tattoo artist. and the only thing between him and glariza is that mael picked up a feather on his way to the tattoo and piercing shop for shits and gigs, and when he got there blew it in her face as a joke, not knowing she was allergic and the owners wife. (they're calm now no hard feelings)
and they all lived happily ever after
adding onto my earlier head cannon that Arthur could see ghosts as a child: he still can, he just has more trouble differentiating them from living people.
main example of this is the green haired fairy he would constantly see looming around king. he never commented on to, he could tell they were friends. he just found it weird that nobody else acknowledged him, but he didn't question it and went with the crowd, not speaking to the fairy once.
of course Arthur's smart, he realised pretty quick that helbram was a ghost. the fact that nobody seemed to know he was there, how long only ever spoke to him when he had that helmet over his eyes.
so Arthur just watched from afar, observing the fairy, sometimes even staring him down for a good couple minutes. he never had to worry about getting caught, after all everyone including helbram thought he was just spacing out. you know, normal teenage boy stuff.
many times Arthur considered going up and speaking to helbram, but something always stopped him. fear mainly. he had no idea who helbram was, apart from his name from when he heard king say it that one time. and of course that he's a fairy. but also he didn't want to ruin it for king. it seemed so special to the two fairies that only king could see and speak to him, and Arthur didn't want to make either party anxious that he knows or feel like that special thing they have is ruined.
also, Arthur may or may not have developed a little crush on the pointy eared fairy, but that's just an extra thought.
I was going to start writing this and put it on aO3 but I'm having trouble breathing rn and I don't want the curse to make it something sinister. I might just post it on tumblr and upload it later idk yet, it's yet to be written.
life forever incomplete because I'll never get to show Ban tiktoks of men 'cooking'

everyday, the thought of how doll gowther looks more and more like glariza each time he appears plagues me.
like I swear he didn't look THIS similar in seven deadly sins in any of the seasons or chapters
without his glasses for further reference

guys merlin was born on heather day (December 3rd). I AM NOT okay
I wish I could watch the Purgatory arc again for the first time because wtf was all that about?
Demon Gowther: I think the word you're searching for is: demon mage.
Chief of Belialuin: The word I'm searching for... I can't say [points at merlin's books n' shit] because there's pre-school toys present.
trust this means that they knew eachother
Arthur had manged to bring back his own versions of melascula and galand. but just wait until he find out who's under Liones castle
(hint hint demon gowther)
Yes, Merlin is morally gray and definitely had horrible decisions but she’s not the most evil being to walk the universe like some people paint her to be.
Listen, I’m not denying Merlin is selfish but why does the whole fandom keep ignoring the fact that she genuinely loves knowledge to the point of obsession (stopping her own time so there would be no limit for her to continue exploring knowledge) and reduce her whole motive to just “being unable to handle a rejection”? Ok, she had a crush on Meliodas (puppy love typa thing let’s be honest) and since she also loves/cannot hate Elizabeth (and this proves she doesn’t have a love brain like y’all want her to), she chose to immerse herself in knowledge, a healthy coping mechanism if ya ask me. Then she found out about chaos and started looking into it. By the point the events in the manga happened, she had already invested 3000 years into uncovering chaos. Now imagine you start a passion project that grows way out of hand, and you have spent too many years to just quit and not get the results. This is what Merlin meant when she said “too late” in my opinion (partly this and partly that she wished she had had someone like Escanor 3000 years ago when she was so hungry for dedicated affection). Merlin is the sin of Gluttony for a reason. Greed is wanting more; gluttony is overconsuming, overindulgence to the point of self destruction. Her actions are always one part cold pragmatism and one part sentimental. It’s cold when she said Escanor was an intriguing test subject. But then she did an incredibly sentimental thing by giving him a kiss, scarring herself permanently as a memorial to him so Escanor is carved into her very skin and she would always remember him whilst people jeered at her for “wasting a pretty face”.
Now onto the next part that I think people are too hard on her for, just slow down and put yourself in Merlin’s shoes. So she helped this guy, and she looked like the only female figure who has ever shown him kindness. Wouldn’t Merlin think she might just be an alive version of Rosa to him? Escanor was probably aware of this, which is why he said “I have always loved you. And I know it's not only because you remind me so much of Rosa”. And seeing how many of y’all keep refusing that it’s Merlin who was with Escanor in chapter 192 but Rosa instead (which is dumb bc only Merlin has that mole and the Japanese text literally says “Merlin”) shows how real this concern is. I love Escalin and I think they should get married, but she is not inclined to return his feelings.
Yes, Escanor wrote many many many poems dedicated to her, and all of the words show how much he worshiped her. But this is bad, because then Merlin wouldn’t think he genuinely loves her (until his confession I reckon, you could see the surprise in her eyes when she realized just how forgiving his love is) and that he was probably mistaking savior worshiping for love. Just look at how Escanor described Merlin, sounds a bit too perfect and um well not exactly accurate:
Her being kind is debatable I guess since she was kinda always nice to him (which proves she did care about him btw)
But cheerful?? Does this mean Merlin smile more in front of Escanor?
It’s a shame really. I wonder what could have gone differently if Escanor had confessed his deep feelings for her sooner, maybe even back when they weren’t wanted criminals yet. Maybe he wouldn’t have become collateral damage to her plans. I hate how the anime portrayed their farewell kiss, the manga did it so much better. I’m not a big fan of how emotionless she is in the anime compared to the melancholy and the sinking realization that she couldn’t back down anymore. How her eyes looked so sad in the manga but the anime missed the mark completely.
Another harsh assumption is that Merlin tried to kill Elizabeth. No, she can teleport Elizabeth quick enough there won’t be a scrape. Reactivating her curse sounds extreme but even if Merlin hadn’t done it, Elizabeth would probably still encounter some near-death experience in purgatory and that would reactive her curse too (still don’t really get how this works as some said Merlin needs to have the power equivalent to a god to reactivate her curse? But personally I think Merlin managed to do it because the demon king isn’t dead yet). And also the curse required Meliodas to “watch” her die so technically since he wasn’t watching, Elizabeth wouldn’t die.
Anyway, Merlin is selfish and I still love her. God forbid a woman has hobbies (literally lol).
Ya know in retrospect, Merlin bringing Escanor back is a perfect example of her gluttonous side where she doesn’t want to lose the very person who loves her unconditionally despite everything.
