One week after Else began her first nursing job, she went to a party where she would both meet her first husband and, while jumping on a trampoline, fall and sprain her ankle. Although Else’s boss understood just how common the injury was, she convalesced in self-loathing. Unable to stomach being nursed instead of nursing, …

Chalice Well, or the Red Spring, an ancient water source at the foot of Glastonbury Tor, Somerset, England. Iron oxide gives its water a reddish hue and metallic taste which is said to have healing and spiritual properties. I at least felt invigorated before my walk up the Tor after a few glasses. The well has been in use for at least two thousand years, and is surrounded by myths of the Holy Grail. I was easy to spend a meditative hour or two in the Chalice gardens with a view of the Tor, and to watch others fill their glass and perhaps say a prayer to themselves. #travel #Glastonbury #Somerset #England #redspring #ChaliceWell #Tor #myth #water (at Chalice Well)
