"Aren’t Michael and Dom still dating?"
He did have a point, they were still dating. And the look he gave her said he didn't approve -- when usually, she gave him that look.
"Michael and Frankie kissed though, and Dom knows. They're still together. It's not fair to anyone." Maybe it was just wish fulfillment on her part but there was a grain of truth, it wasn't fair.
"Hold on for a minute, backtrack. This thing you call a plan entails that we do w h a t?”
"That we get Frankie and Michael together, Albus."
He furrowed his brows and eyed the girl with evident curiosity. It made no sense to him why she would be in the bathroom, but something told him not to argue with the girl. “At least you’re right about something.” He scoffed. “No, there’s no one else in here. Do you mind telling me what mission you’re on?”
Jane nodded in agreement, because, it was rude. Truly, she just wanted to get out of the bathroom because she trusted his word that no one else was in said bathroom. She supposed he deserved that, a proper answer. "Thank you. -- I don't mind. I'm looking for my best friend. He's had a really rough go at things, so, I'm on a mission to find him. I've had really bad luck so far." she sighed, frowning. Really rough wasn't even the word to describe how hard things had been for him.
She was not supposed to be here, of course, but it wasn’t in his style to meddle with people’s private affairs unless there was some benefit for him, which was not the case. Besides, her nervous smile amused him in a way. This one was clearly not like the rest of her family - head-strong, obnoxious and nosy to the point it was endangering her life - so Alexander felt more or less intrigued in her presence. “How was your break?”, he asked casually as if she was a class-mate rather than an almost-stranger.
Jane was more than surprised that he seemed genuine. This was a surprise, but she supposed everyone deserved the benefit of the doubt -- and this was just a conversation. "It could have gone better than it did, really. But that makes me sound like I'm complaining, apologies." How did anyone respond to that question? She had been there the Christmas they had all found out about Harry, there with Albus. The Hufflepuff gave the most polite and honest answer she could, without revealing too much. There was a great part of her that hated living like this, having to be so brief, having to watch her back around every corner even when it came to conversation. Jane just wanted to trust people, she wanted the world to be a much different place than it was. "But I'm sure I'm not that only one who's break didn't go as planned. How was yours?"
Michael’s eyes widened at her question, a little shocked that Jane would have the audacity to say such a thing. It was very unlike her even though Frankie and Michael did both know that she wanted the two of them together. It had been a subject of laughter a few times although now he wondered what exactly Frankie and Jane talked about when they were alone. ”I—uh—what? You know we aren’t, Jane…Dominique and I…we’re still dating.”
"So, uh, Frankie tol you about that huh? It was really, er, one of those spur-of-the-moment things. Neither of us meant it." At least, that was what he thought.
The smug expression, the slight excitement that Jane had been feeling before, fell from her face. He was still dating Dominique? It wasn't that she didn't have anything against Dom, she just had always thought that him and Frankie were better. That him and Frankie were soulmates. "You are?"
"I didn't realize that kisses between best friends were spur of the moments things. And meant nothing." Her brows furrowed in confusion, or maybe, she was just disappointed. "And Dominique's ok with this? I mean -- this really isn't any of my business -- I just don't understand. Are you happy with her though?"
"Oh yeah, never had a taste for murder." Evie jumped out of her seat to go order Jane’s hot chocolate and two salads feeling uneasy ordering so much food. After it was all set she went back to her friend and ruffled her hair back. "Nough bout me, how’re you doing?"
A giggle elicited from Jane's throat at her answer. She wasn't laughing at Evie, she was laughing at the answer she gave. It was amazing how clever she was, really. Jane started with her hot chocolate, sipping it before she answered. " I'm alright, as alright as I can be I think. Tired, of course. But I think everyone is, aren't they? And you? Have you talked to Theo lately?"
"Of course I did sweetheart, here." Hannah whisked some of her youngest daughters favorite fudge from the drawer in her desk and broke a piece off, handing it towards her, before breaking off a piece for herself. "Why are you looking for Frankie and Albus this time?"
Jane smiled, taking the piece, starting to gnaw on it. "Well ... " Jane didn't want to lie to her mother, lying to mothers was practically illegal, wasn't it? Besides, after everything her family had been through, she didn't really want to lie. "I have to ask Frankie something about her and Michael. Albus has been hiding." she frowned.

"Thanks.. I’m good, Jane, but thanks."
Jane wanted to push the subject, but then she thought about how overwhelming having all of the family here, how they must've hovered. So, she changed the subject. "You want to know something funny?"

"You’re looking for a friend in the bathroom?" Ezra questioned incredulously. As an extra precaution his fingers gripped the front of the towel wrapped around his waist, not wanting further embarrassment to ensue.
Jane sighed, looking down. "Yes, I am. I'm really sorry to have barged in on you like this. I haven't seen him in days and I'm worried. He's been through too much. -- It's really my fault and was rude of me, I apologize again. -- I'm just sort of on a mission. There's no one else in here that you know of right?"
[ owl ] Albus, I've been looking for you. I even ventured into the boys room and you can imagine how that went. I'm not going to give up until I find you, you know. I have some things for you. -- J.L.
[ owl ] Funny, I’ve been looking for you too. Though, if we’re being completely honest with each other, my efforts haven’t been the best. Looking for an individual while simultaneously attempting to avoid the rest of the Hogwarts population isn’t as simple as I originally thought ( so I’ve mostly been focusing on the second part ). Heh, I can guess how that played out, but I’d rather hear it from you. Meet you at our spot in fifteen minutes or so? I’ll bring blankets and hot chocolate. — A.P.
[ owl ] We just seem to keep missing each other don't we? I think your efforts have probably been alright. I could rate them 7/10. Especially added to the fact that it seems no one's seen you, you've been doing quite well. Alright, perfect. I can bring my chess set and the other things. -- J.L.
Evie’s smile was bright and generous but it faltered at the corners. “Of course Janey. You okay with vegetarian? I could really go for a salad.”
Jane's brows furrowed when she saw the previous luminous smile shine a little less. She wondered why, but she didn't comment. "Alright, a salad is fine with me. Thank you, again. I didn't know you were a vegetarian, Evie."
"It really is. Would you like some fudge? I have your favorite."
"You brought goodies with you too? Best mum of the year award goes to you. As it has every year. I would love some, I think I need to take a small break from my hunt for Frankie and Albus."
"I apologize, but I am failing to see exactly what this has to do with Transfiguration."
"I -- my -- I thought it would be a good idea to bring you something? As a welcome to Hogwarts treat?"
"It takes true talent and ability to juggle eggs. I’d like to see Lord Voldemort beat this.”
"I bet he couldn't." Jane smiled, suppressing a laugh. "Neither could I. Never thought I'd have something in common with him. "
"Well, hello there. It is a pleasure to see you."
Jane knew she shouldn't have been in the Slytherin Common room, at least, not without Albus or her brother ( though she was a Prefect, if that meant anything ) but neither were to be found and she had to find them. Looking up, she saw Alexander Carrow, someone she knew not extremely well and someone she was also told to steer clear of. "As it is to you?" she said politely with a weak smile. She wasn't sure if he meant it or not, or if he wanted anything to do with her, really, but she just stood there, ;ooking at him, wondering what this exchange would be about.
"Oh it’s nothing Janey! I love doing these sort of things. Besides I brought enough pocket money to cover us both twice over. Do you want anything to eat? You’re looking so peaky these days. You can’t be eating enough. "
Jane couldn't help but smile at the other girls constant generosity, something she deeply admired in Evie. Even if she said it was nothing, Jane knew she'd be sure to pay her back in some way. "You're so sweet. I'll have something to eat if you do. I'm not sure if I do look peaky, but if you say so, I trust your opinion. Whatever you get, I will, alright?"
