▐║  ♡  ┊  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐅𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍  𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐒  𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍  𝐇𝐄𝐑  𝐀𝐒  𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐄  𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒  𝐓𝐎  𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐑.  Like  searing  steam  choking  her  ribcage,  a  harsh  pressure  squeezing  every  fragile  thing  kept  carefully  hidden  beneath  her  bones.  The  silence  breeds  the  cruelest  thoughts.  Is  she  really  so  easy  to  push  aside?  It  hurts  that  it's  even  a  choice  that  has  to  be  considered  at  all,  to  watch  Sunhee  linger  over  her  phone's  keyboard  and  struggle  to  refuse  them.  Work  is  important.  Junha  knows  that.  Who  could  know  how  this  industry  loves  to  devour  people  the  moment  they  refuse  to  cooperate  with  them  more  than  she  does?  But  .  .  .  isn't  she  important  to  her,  too?

ㅤㅤㅤㅤIt  stings.  Her  chest  puffs  full  of  air,  the  smallest  tremble  in  her  bottom  lip  as  she  bites  the  inside  of  her  cheek.  She  tries  hard  to  keep  her  emotions  in  check.  She's  gotten  good  at  it;  she  can  wear  a  face  of  stone  and  never  once  flinch.  But  not  when  it  comes  to  things  like  this.  Things  that  truly  matter  to  her.  Things  that  reach  her  softer  insides  because  she  was  vulnerable  enough  to  give  someone  else  a  place  there.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ❝ No.  Obviously  you  don't  know,  Sunhee,  or  else  you  wouldn't  be  standing  there  still  thinking  about  whether  you  should  ditch  me  or  not! ❞ㅤ She  doesn't  mean  to  raise  her  voice,  either.  It  comes  out  of  her  like  a  whirlwind  escaping  from  her  throat,  quickly  silenced  afterward  by  a  firmer  press  of  teeth  against  her  cheek.  But  she  meant  the  words,  even  if  she  didn't  mean  to  say  them  aloud.  They  hold  a  fear  she  can't  express  for  what  it  is.  It  has  to  pretend  that  it's  anger,  that  it's  something  sharp  and  strong  and  not  the  pathetic  insecurity  that  it  truly  is.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤBut  Junha  looks  at  Sunhee  —  this  woman  she  cares  about  so  much  —  obviously  agonizing  over  what  she  should  do,  and  she  feels  guilty  for  being  so  caught  up  in  her  own  feelings  that  she  didn't  see  how  truly  torn  she  is. ㅤ❝ You've  never  told  me, ❞ㅤ Junha  finally  speaks  again,  softer, ㅤ❝ but  clearly  it's  stressing  you  out. ❞ㅤ The  tensed  muscles  in  her  jaw  relax,  tongue  soothing  over  where  she  had  bitten  inside  her  mouth,  and  exhales. ㅤ❝ What  are  they  holding  over  you,  jagi?  Blackmail?  Debt? ❞

raised voices aren't something that sunhee is particularly used to. she avoids her own when she can, but it more often than not leaves her in a burst of EMOTION that's been buried and ignored for too long. she meets junha's gaze and whatever inside of her that is angry and frustrated grows quieter. it's still there, still wants to bite, just not as hard as before.

❛no, none of that.❜ her frown remains deep, tension etched in her features. although, it isn't too far from the truth. sunhee spares a final glance at her phone, before she locks it and turns it over. she slides it further across the counter before she drops her elbows, hands dragging slowly down her face, as though trying to wipe the TENSION away.

❛my family is... we're poor, there's no other way to put it.❜ sunhee explains. it occurs to her that they've never had this conversation before, she RARELY has it with others that are part of this life. ❛we're farmers, historically. my grandfather died when i was a teenager and my dad almost killed himself trying to pull in the workload of two people. so─ so, i joined him.❜

she doesn't voice that in order to do so she dropped out of her schooling, that she was FIFTEEN and attempting to do the work of a grown man.

❛obviously, i couldn't keep up. so, this─ i moved here and signed as a trainee. it kept a roof over their heads, it still does. it paid the most out of all of the options i had available to me. we're doing a lot better now, we'd probably be fine.❜

her voice trails and sunhee turns to face away from the counter, she leans back against it and closes her eyes to release a steady EXHALE. ❛the only reason i haven't quit and gotten the first train home is so my sisters don't have to live this kind of life to keep us this way. they deserve better.❜

Something about the way that Sunhee is so fearlessly taking charge drives a nearly animalistic desire within Nagako. She never would have thought to do something like this beforehand, but then Sunhee's hand is at her neck, teasing in her ear, and her mind just blanks.

"I--" Nagako struggles to put together even a couple of words. All her brain is zeroed in on is Sunhee's hands, on Sunhee, Sunhee, Sunhee--

She finds herself insistently pushing Sunhee's hand further up the slope of her neck. The sensation of each ragged breath she takes presses perfectly against her grip, and Nagako swallows thickly. Her eyes flutter at the pressure, at the steady circle of fingers. There's an instinct inside of her to give everything over to Sunhee. "Please," she utters breathlessly. "I'm yours. I--" Nagako pauses to run her tongue against her own bottom lip, "can you blame me? I'm not patient. I'm selfish. You're making me," a breath, "very selfish."

her eyes widen just slightly as nagako urges her hand further up the curve of her neck. there's something that awakens in her, something deep in the back of her mind that loves the way that she can feel the doctor swallowing against the palm of her hand, knowing that she has this much CONTROL over the moment, over her.

and knowing that she would never harm her.

sunhee curls her fingers around nagako's neck, her grip light but PRESENT, all the same. she pushes the other's head back further, until she can ghost her lips along the line of the doctor's jaw, just below her ear. ❛i know that you're mine.❜ she responds, voice too sickly SWEET for the moment, too tender for the way that her fingers return to nagako quickly and with force. she doesn't ease them in, this time - rather sinks them hastily until she can't. only then does she curl them again, searching for the right spot to curl them, once she finds it her movements slow, while her hand remains around the other's throat.

❛but, if you'd like to remind me─ did everybody go home for the day? maybe these empty walls need to know who you belong to, hm?❜
