Kai is the type of guy who will track down unsuspecting ladies on the street and then shout at them about petting their dogs

And then not understand why the sight of a ~6 foot, 200-lb. man who hasn’t shaved in three days barrelling toward them and yelling every word he speaks might be a bit alarming to said unsuspecting ladies

A couple of OCs I’ve been working on the last couple of days! Their names are Kai and Nika (short for Kaipo and Veronika, respectively). Just getting some basic sketches down of their faces and body types. I already have most of their story planned out, but I don’t have a ton written down yet.

Update

While the final verdict is still out on my bills, R. Hamlin’s car was totalled and he will have to purchase another. This comes after a mechanical malfunction wiped out the car before this one earlier this year, which he was still paying off.

His insurance will not cover the car or my medical bills (it only covers the other car/its passengers), and he had to use almost all of his money to get the wreckage out of impound when it was towed.

I hate to do this, I hate to ask others for help, but we need it. There’s a chance that I can manage my hospital bills (surgery will be required) but without a car, R. Hamlin can’t work, which leaves us both without income for the time being.

I get the feeling Guts wouldn’t be super physically affectionate a lot, so sometimes Casca’s gotta be the one to initiate. I don’t think she’d mind, though.

I sketched this out at a restaurant the other day and for some reason liked how it came out, so I ended up lining it last night. I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried drawing a face lit from below before--if I have I don’t remember it. I don’t do pen shading that often, but it’s kinda fun. I might do it more.

Been awhile since I’ve lined anything traditionally, but it felt nice to get back to it. Even if I swear my Microns can smell fear...

Characters Interacting: A Trick I just figured out while doodling and don’t want to forget.

So this is a cool little trick, and I don’t wanna forget how to do it, and I think it would help other people too!

So if you’re like me, drawing two or more people interacting with each other, such as like. Hugging and stuff. Can be a little difficult!

So. Say I wanted to draw tiny Florent and Lucian sitting next to each other and leaning on each other for support.

Here’s how you start!

So instead of starting with the character skeleton we all learned in those how to drawn manga books we read as youngins, trying drawing blocky shapes that represent the character’s general shape first instead.

Treat those blocky shapes like how a wood carver would treat a block of wood, and start carving out the shapes of your characters in a really rough sketch.

Clean up that sketch and bam! So much easier!

I’m going to stop there because you get the point.

Now go! Draw characters interacting! Draw hugs, and snuggles, and german suplexes!

I can confirm this method helps a ton! Also helpful: If your characters are standing on the ground/sitting on something together, make sure to draw the line for that surface as well, especially if you're drawing characters that have a large height difference. That way you won't end up with one of them floating on the ground.
