END RAPE CULTURE!

“We live in a society that teaches women to be careful not to get raped instead of teaching men not to rape.”

Rape Culture is an environment in which rape is prevalent and sexual violence against women is normalized and excused in the media and popular culture. Most women limit their behavior because of the existence of rape. A lot of women are living in fear because of it. Objectifying the women’s bodies, cat-calling, getting grope, sexual jokes, sexual assault are one of the things that women and men are experiencing this nowadays. Many people are blaming the victims instead of teaching men not to rape. They tell us that women must not wear revealing clothes, women must speak for themselves, women must not associate with men, women must know their limitations. Wherein fact that it is not the fault of the victim if she/he is raped. Because of that, a lot of women and men are traumatized because of the rape culture. They are afraid to speak up because of what society is telling us. It gives a negative impact to the victims.

WE MUST NOT:

- Blame the victim

- Make sexual jokes/rape jokes

- Objectify the women and men’s bodies

- Cat-calling

- Blame the victims clothes

- Trivializing sexual assault

- Stop tolerating your friends if she/he raped someone

We must end this rape culture because it is not good for our society that some people are blaming the victim instead of blaming the rapist. We must imprint in our brains that rape exists because of the rapist not because of someone's clothing. If she/he says no it means no.

The importance of media and information literate individual it enables us people to elucidate and informed about how can we be knowledgeable about the informations that we are gathering thru the use of media. Being a media and information literate is crucial because it benefits us a lot of aspects. It also have advantages that boost people to their judgments and can interpret whether the information towards media is a fact or erroneous. It improves our learning capacity with the help of media and information, by that we must be responsible for the informations that we are spreading.
