“I thought that, once upon a time,” Starlight admitted, “but not anymore.” Shaking her head sadly, Starlight said, “Just because they aren’t doing this to help people, doesn’t mean I can’t be in this to help people.”

“Oh, um,” Starlight said with a wavering smile. She certainly hadn’t expected to hear that, “That’s very kind, thank you. But the Seven provides me the best opportunity to the greatest good for the most people...and in the end, that’s all I really want, you know? To help people.”

Starlight chuckled mournfully, dropping her head into her hands,“How much time you got, Zatanna?” Lifting her head from her hands, “My entire team thinks I’m a naive, manipulated idiot and I’m starting to think there’s no such thing as heroes.”

“Believe me now?” Annie asked as her powers caused the lights around them to flash and flicker. “I’m one of you.”

Annie chuckled, “No, no, you just singed me a little. It’s fine.” Looking down at her beloved Starlight costume, it wouldn’t take her long to fix it. “I’ve had much worse.” Hell, an acquaintance of her friend had shot her twice; being signed was nothing in comparison.
