I've always liked Freaky Friday also I like the boy version with Judge Reinhold. I always wanted it to be way freakier, though. Switching bodies with someone you love isn't just a chance to learn a lesson, it's a chance to get away with some deeply fucked up shit. ♾ Ground rules: I'm not switching with a kid, that's just wrong. Have some respect. ♾ Now that we've established Freaky Friday only happens between cosenting adults, let's admit that the very first thing to do is sex stuff; don't even care who it is. I've only known sex as me and the chance to do it in someone else's body is so singularly unique that I'm not missing it just because it's "morally reprehensible." ♾ Wait, I'm going about this wrong: Get specific. If I were to Freaky Friday with anyone, obviously it'd be @Spn.cr and not just because that means right now I'd be shaping and diversifying the conversation around how storytellers impact culture and change in Park City, Utah. It's also because he's the only person I know who would ever go along with this - AND CONSENT MATTERS PEOPLE. ♾ So, what would I do in his body? Sina's the kind of person who can appear overly credulous but that's just because he's seen some things and believes in a world where anything is possible, so why not? BTW - keep those people. ♾ Anyhow, I'd tell him that I've finally decided to marry Japhy and have devised the perfect way to propose: He always said he's wanted to go skydiving so we do that (I know! Love is a whole thing!), but at the top I'll throw Japhy out sans parachute, follow after him, catch him, rescue him. Someone recently said to me, "You need to find a company where you can really use your genius zone.” Spoiler alert: It was my boss and he said it the day after letting me go. (It was all very amicable and if you ever want a trailer or title designed you absolutely owe it to yourself to talk to the folks at @moceanla) ♾ Anyhow,since have a minute to chill, I decided to imagine the company I would want to work for right now, the brand I would want to know. As the hate-watching of #RENT LIVE (ish!) heated up tonight, I thought I'd go into one of my memory boxes to see if I had a program from one of the many times I saw the show. This was a habit I picked up when I was a DRAMATIC WRITING (always all caps, it's dramatic) major at @nyuniversity - keep a little box and fill it with detritus and seal them up over time. I got the idea from Andy Warhol. ♾ Sadly, no RENT Playbill’s, though Kiki (that’s @mxviv to you) & Herb ’s Coup de Theatre, Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses and Eve Ensler’s Necessary Targets all made the cut. There’s also my Kurfew and John Blair cards, a VIP pass to the 2000 VMA’s (the night I met Bono and Chyna!), cards from my college boyfriend that say things like “I will always love you no matter what” and later “you will always be a special person in my life”, Eric Nies’ business card from when I briefly worked for him, so many letters from friends (make a note to write more letters to friends), sketches, something about love that I wrote on the back of a Big Cup postcard that includes the line, “How cruel is love? It renders you mute and keeps you up all night when desire rages, but devoid of passion, it makes you master of all the moves.” Again, DRAMATIC WRITING. ♾ I could go on about RENT. There’s the day I spent in line with my high school friends (and a very cute Emerson undergrad who I secretly dated senior year) waiting for rush tickets. Or when I interned at the New York Theatre Workshop, where I found out that Jonathan had written a song for Joanne & Maureen called “I Want to Beat You ’Til Your Black & Blue” that was mercifully cut. It changed my life and for a long time I was embarrassed by my passion for it and the life of artistic freedom and community it boldly if shakily (look, the second act is — not great) proclaimed. As a kid in the suburbs, it made me dream of a big life. Then, I had a big life and saw friends die from drugs and AIDS and I knew how to get by on $40 worth of food a week if I planned it right. ♾ You can look at your past, your present, your self and the world any way you choose, but the best way (it still seems to me) is to measure your life in love. http://bit.ly/2RlLRMa

I think the world would be a slightly better place if we all had a #signatureburger. We're all Americans and we all probably eat and most of us probably enjoy at least one burger a year. I don't care if it's beef or seitan, bun or lettuce, we all have some kind of platonic burger ideal in mind. ♾ I've been working on mine. I think a signature burger is one that's unique to you and that you make yourself. It's a way of saying, here this is what I think tastes awesome, try it out and let me know what you think. It's something you're constantly refining and expanding along with your tastes, but still it's a goddam burger, so anyone can make one of their own. ♾ Here's what I'm working with right now: Bison burger seasoned with @Majesticgarlic cayenne delicious creamy garlic, fresh thyme, green peppercorns and sal de gusano (agave worm salt) on a sourdough roll with whole grain mustard and tomato bisque for dipping. ♾ It's pretty good but needs something. Lettuce would wilt in the bisque and cheese seems like it would muddle all the spices. I seem to get some variation of this question a lot: What are you into right now? Have you heard this story? Wait, you’re not caught up on the Bezos divorce? You haven’t seen that trailer yet? ♾ I used to be very up on things. Partly because it was my job back when I was a journalist, but mostly because Knowing Things was my thing. You might be smarter, more attractive or more confident, but I had a Wikipedia brain and that helped me stand out. ♾ I don’t know if the fact I have big gaps in knowledge these days is the result of me getting older or if it’s just that thanks to the world we live in now there’s s much stuff, so many subcultures and content that I don’t feel the need to be on top of everything anymore. Who can be? It’s exhausting. There’s just too much stuff. When people ask me about something I don’t know about, I don’t feel left out. It’s liberating, really. ♾ The music I’m listening to these days are a lot of spaghetti western soundtracks and David Byrne. I’m reading books on Ancestral Puebloan culture, Japanese culture and the hospitality industry. There's no center in our culture, or I should say cultures now. I'm sure I could look it up, but this has got to be the most rain L.A. has had in a long while. The city, the state and its people aren't really built for it; literally. I'm suddenly very aware none of the windows in my apartment have insulation and gutters just aren't a thing here. ♾ That said, the stereotype that people lose their minds here when it rains just isn't true. Almost everyone I ask loves loves loves the rain; finally a break from the monotony of all that endless sunshine. The Farmer's Market on Fairfax is actually kind of a farmer's market now that all but the bravest of tourists have scurried away. We get to wear exotics like parkas and chunky sweaters. Does anyone know why we're all posting photos of our younger selves next to our older selves today. It's been done before and better (#youngmenow thanks @zefrank), most folks are picking a decade difference (which is what I did) but that's just a guideline. Not is there a discernable hashtag, but here I am posting it too. How come? ♾ Well, for starters it's easy to replicate, has a simple to understand format and is interesting primarily because it's personal, which just so happens to be the recipe for successful user-generated/ long-tail / viral content. The fact that the trend has no hashtag or trend attached probably helps, if we're being honest here. ♾ That only answers why "someone" would join , but as I just said, the appeal here is personal, so why am I, Japhy taking part in Yet Another Meme Your Mom Will Do? ♾ Obvious answer is to do the above meta interpretation, but I'm also doing it because I'm vain as fuck. I dated a lovely photography student in college (hi @matthewbarela you're in my insta blog thing!) and his photos of me were the first time I was able to see myself as an object of desire, rather than the very noisy person I am inside my head. ♾ The thing is, I have a weird relationship to photos of myself. Depending on the angle of me or the light or whatever I can look like a totally different person. People have told me my whole life I've looked much younger than I am (see ya soon 40s!) or that I look like @culkania, @thetomeverettscott, Jeff Daniels or Rimbaud. I think about how the reflected image I see of myself in the mirror every day is flipped from how the rest of the world sees me. ♾ Where does vanity end and curiosity begin?
