Regarding me, I have to say I don’t speak much about myself and the title the-eternal-moonshine refers to the way I create things in the shades of the night and its mysteries. I am stargazer, an eternal dreamer, and I just want to share some messages of tenderness, love and respect. Beyond that, I have always posted things that would speak for myself in a much more accurate way that I would probably ever do. The blog is full of little clues and secrets for the one who is curious. I am anonymous and no one of my friends or my family knows about that mysterious blog. So my boyfriend did a thing.

My boyfriend of over 2 years sent me a game over skype. He said he wants to try and make Pokemon games since I play them so much. I opened it up and was super excited.

It seemed really well done and was super ready to start on my adventure!

He left a lot of cute notes and tips around town.

He remembered my favorite Kanto starter.<3

I was surprised it ran pretty well. I went on my journey and leveled up my Pokemon!

He showed me support and encouragement through a ton of NPC dialogue.

Then as im ending the game I come across this.

Keith Haring in 1989: “Unfinished Painting”. Haring died few months after and this is his last painting. This is supposed to be a self-portrait. Haring knew he wouldn’t have enough time to finish it. This is one of the saddest but certainly the most powerful thing I’ve ever seen.

to clarify: this is a finished self portrait. haring did know that he would be unable to continue to work; this “unfinished” painting refers to that self-consciously as a visualization of how the aids crisis and government neglect robbed him of his life and future career.

i feel like this distinction is important? there are many artists who died due to hiv/aids and left unfinished work, but haring made this specifically to comment on his impending death. i feel like stating that it’s actually unfinished takes away some of his agency as an artist/activist/pwa and the political power of the work.
