I think Tim Minear does want Buddie to be canon, but he's too cowardly to do it because of the risk of it going wrong. He's delusional. Buddie generates a lot of buzz, it's practically free publicity for the show, and tons of press are practically begging for them to be canon. Even Ryan and Oliver seem very involved at conventions, showing they have amazing chemistry and are good friends in real life, even though Ryan is close to Kenny and Oliver to Aisha.

I definitely believe Ryan and Oliver do want Buddie to be canon. Are kisses necessary and physical conact too? Absolutely not. There are couples in shows who don't have any physical contact, I suppose by choice of the actors themselves. The one that comes to mind right now is Harper and James from The Rookie, extremely boring, though.

Thanks anon. I also believe Ryan and Oliver want it now as well. Just how they’ve been acting during these cons. I hope Tim is seeing this and at this moment thinking how he WILL do THE SCENE where Buddie go canon.

9-1-1's Most Harmful Queerbaiting Comes in the Form of Eddie Diaz' Sexuality

Today, we're going to explore all of this in a 10,000 word essay that I'm writing instead of doing SAT prep...

But no, really. Might actually write this lol. It just feels far more tone deaf and harmful to me than baiting with Buddie.

Like I'm not saying that Eddie has to be a queer character, but with all the given build up that keeps getting added to, it feels a bit weird to never address all the build up, and leaves him feeling underdeveloped as a character.

There have been so many moments of his that scream comphet, and if the writers didn't want him to be read in that way, or make it seem ambiguous for viewership there were so many moments in season 9 that could have just... not happened. Like him being willing to spend a ton of money to not get bid on, and being totally not interested in women when clubbing. It feels malicious to be doing all that if they can't commit.

Especially since there is a fair bit of queerbaiting with his relationship with Buck both in the show and in interviews, which would imply him being queer.
