Sewing my own magd (apron) to update my folk dress this year and itâs the most fun I think Iâve ever had
AND itâs giving me a lot of final project ideas. The warp in my old magd was light blue whereas this one is light grey, meaning that the old one doesnât have as much of a distinct backside, but the colours look much deeper because there is no âwhiteâ dots there to lighten everything, along with the weft (in the old one) being slightly tighter.
There is also the thing about the skirt for the womenâs dress where the fabric is apparently not made anymore (it looks almost like itâs woven with cartridge pleats, but itâs not really. Itâs very very heavy), and I really should update my own bc itâs still a kids (pre-confirmation) knitted skirt. Itâs not really an issue but itâs a bit different. And if I want just a new skirt without the bodice I could buy that second hand, but it would be expensive, and I believe I would have unprecedented amounts of fun analysing my mums skirt and weaving my own fabric instead
Old and new one next to each other btw!! Look at how deep the old one looks next to the newâŠ
