Mleiha Archeological Centre, Sharjah 🇦🇪 Learning more about this incredible region! Built around a preserved Umm Al Nar era tomb, the museum and exhibition’s design is completely at one with its surroundings - sand coloured stone, clean and crisp minimalist curves. The museum details the excavations and discoveries made over the past 40 years at Mleiha and its surrounding areas. Most interestingly, the Faya North East find which provides evidence that 'anatomically modern humans' were in the Mleiha area between 130,000 and 120,000 years ago! I am such a geek for anything that looks back mankind’s evolutionary journey 🤓 You can also drive your car to their numerous excavation sites and view the tombs, cave and wadi for yourself! Kite Beach Centre, Umm Al Quwain 🇦🇪 Can he walk the walk? This place is magnificent! Paradise beach... Loungers, seating booths and umbrellas... Pizza... Dogs?!?! What more could you want? This dog friendly beach serves up AMAZING pizza with a smile. Their level of service was exceptional, especially considering the place was packed! We also had the opportunity to meet the head chef / manager - he is a gem and very passionate! The best thing about this beach (aside from all the pups ❤️) is they provide the full set-up, beach huts, boat style seating booths, loungers, floor cushions and some shade. All you need is a towel and some SPF. There was no wind when we went, but next time we will certainly be booking some kite surfing lessons 🤙🏻 AED75.00 per person on weekends AED45.00 per person on weekdays AED75.00 per dog! Top tip: pre-book if you want to go on the weekend, they fill up fast! If you like local fish, fresh from the boat, cooked the way you want it and served with the best fattoush in Dubai (in my opinion) - head to Jumeirah 1 Fish Market. This is a no frills, harbour side fish joint but don’t underestimate the quality! We usually take 1 grilled fish to share (Mullet, Halawayoo, Sea Bream), 1 fattoush (did I mention it was amazing?), 1 rice and 1 mashed potato (yep, very unexpected but excellent every time!). Total Bill usually between AED120 - 150.00 for two. Along with great food, you get a great view! Fossil Rock - Mleiha, Sharjah 🇦🇪 Location, location, location! As this was our first time there, we were not entirely sure where we were going! Luckily, we met Mohammed at the start of our journey into the desert - A local from Kalba and a regular in this desert. He helped us drive all the way up the mountain in Frank and pick the ideal camping spot, nestled between the iconic peaks Fossil Rock is so well know for. We watched the sunset from the top 🧡 checkout our Sharjah highlights to see it for yourself. He was also kind enough to help us deflate our tires as we hadn’t planned to go off-road. Fossil Rock - Mleiha, Sharjah 🇦🇪 UAE’s history frozen in time! Fossil Rock is an amazing destination in the UAE for so many reasons: 1. It’s only about 1 hour from Dubai (2 hours from Abu Dhabi) 2. You can dune bash your way there (or for the non 4x4s, you can stick to the gravel roads) 3. Great for camping! 4. Hiking (we didn’t have time, so we are definitely going back) 5. Phenomenal views - dunes, sunset and sunrise 6. It’s full of fossils trapped in time!
