PLEASE REBLOG IF:
You're NOT going to support the Sims 4 Marketplace with money, reblogs, etc.
You're NOT going to harass or bully creators who go on the Marketplace. Ignore them. Make them irrelevant. Don't feed the trolls, DON'T engage with and be shitty to people.
You WILL support FREE (and/or reasonable early access) creators. That means REBLOGS and advertising people's stuff in builds on social media (within reason). Not likes. Reblogs.
You'll spread the word about free alternative content-- let's be real, it's out there somewhere. The Sims 4 has SO MUCH custom content out there. I easily have content from over a T H O U S A N D creators on my HD. There is NO SHORTAGE of a million variants of the same type of item and thanks to all the available tools out there, making custom content is easier than ever.
You'll share 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️ on the high seas, if we can figure out how to do it.
You're not going to support billionaires' continuous human rights violations, environmental disasters, and global networks that literally want to take EVERYTHING from us, INCLUDING our creativity and our willingness to think for ourselves.
REASONS TO AVOID THE MARKETPLACE + ITS PARTICIPATING CREATORS + ITS CONTENT LIKE THE PLAGUE:
The Saudi investment group and TRUMP FAMILY buyout. 'Nuff said, but we'll continue.
The interest on EA's loan to do this buyout is going to be ~$1 BILLION annually. Them doing this means they are DESPERATE. We should NOT be rewarding them just because we want that fancy lipstick that, let's be honest, exists for free if you'd take like five minutes to go look on Google image or Pinterest.
EA is laying off workers to replace them with generative AI. They're closing other game studios. They would literally sell creators to Satan for a billion cornchips and they'd watch you roast in hellfire for a "cheap" laugh.
They haven't (as of this post) given an actual price-scaling metric - and in fact, have outright said it is subject to CHANGE. That means the pricing will NOT remain the same, EA has direct control over it, and the "value" of content is variable.
It's literally just gambling. Like holy fuck, this is so fucking predatory. And for those who don't know, the saying about gambling is, the house always wins. Casinos always rig shit to their favor to "run their business." Microtransactions work the same. Damn. Way.
Maxis literally wants the Marketplace to fail. They're hoping it dies and they're RIGHT to want that.
To be honest? I want to have sympathy for the folks who need $$$. But I can't, not at this point. There are multiple avenues of earning money through Patreon, Boosty, Substack, Modco, TSR (to a lesser extent), SimsFinds (formerly SimsDom), & even Curseforge - and yes, Curseforge does come with the caveat that they're part of an umbrella that helps support the IDF. Pretty sure I've even missed one or two other monetizing sites dedicated entirely to Sims content.
Creators who are joining up with the Sims 4 Marketplace are actively pouring little bits of gasoline on a forest fire in the middle of a dry summer with the reasoning that it'll help them be more warm at night.
Love that for you, but you are actively feeding something that is already wildly out of control and consuming the community.
Spread the word. Take this post outside tumblr without credit for all I care. But I know this community, and I know this is going to become a problem if we let it.

I’ve had some test sliders like these in my game for a long time now, but when I noticed that my presets don’t work on mermans but my sliders did, I knew I had to clean them up for distribution. So here they are! Better Male Body sliders for Humans AND Mermaids! I love sliders because you can make them as big or as subtle as you like. All the body sliders are tied to the belly section of the sim, and they are dependent on the angle you view your sims in CAS. The bulge and traps sliders are separated in case you have any other sliders that would conflict with them, and/or you do not want them. I’d recommend using these with RoBurky’s fitness controls, and a few other sliders out there (butt sliders and arm sliders). These aren’t meant to replace any base game sliders, they are just here to give you more diversity in your male bodies. Enjoy!

the joy of life legacy challenge by @simelune 37 generations to keep you playing.
as i was looking for legacy challenges that were being updated as new packs came out, i had the thought "hey, why not just write one myself?" so here we are! i'll do by best to add new generations as time goes on, but seeing as this already has 37 (!!) generations, i think we'll be okay for a bit.
a few notes:
this challenge incorporates mods. i tried to include options for players who do not use gameplay mods, but some generations are built around them.
this challenge uses (almost) all packs. some generations are based off specific packs though, so you could pick and choose which gens you want to do.
this challenge has story aspects. there's a lot of room for you to come up with a story yourself each generation, so have fun with it!
some generations are longer and more involved than others! this is meant to give you a bit of a break and provide variety between generations.

please feel free to tag me if you try this challenge! i would love to see how you interpret some of the story aspects and seeing your simmies makes my day <3 you could also tag it with "#tjol challenge" / "#tjolc" if you prefer!

Best Mods and CC to Improve CAS in Sims 4: Organizers, Fixes, and Aesthetic Upgrades
Author: @nulevhroma
CAS in The Sims 4 is where our sims are born, but sometimes the default interface really gets in the way of being creative. You notice it even more if you’ve got hundreds of pieces of CC downloaded and finding what you want turns into a half-hour quest! We’ve rounded up the most useful mods and custom content to make your game a whole lot nicer and easier: pretty backgrounds, CC organizers, replacements for those annoying wrench icons, mods for more catalog columns, stand-still pose mods – and so much more.
By the way, we’re not covering CAS lighting here – there’s already a whole section about that in our article on in-game lighting. If you’re curious, follow this link to find out how to make your sims look even better with the right lighting.
General fixes and mods
Controlled Position Mod by @northernsiberiawinds
This is a real must-have for anyone who takes character creation in CAS seriously! The mod gives you full control over your sims’ positions: no more automatic pose changes when picking out clothes or accessories. One especially handy feature is it fixes the icon placement for kids and toddlers, which in the vanilla game often end up floating somewhere above their heads. Plus, you get a bunch of static poses to choose from – including special options for showing off manicures – and you can even turn off those random facial expressions if they get on your nerves.

CAS Hiders
If your mods folder is overflowing with custom content and you pretty much never use the standard in-game items, hiders are a real lifesaver. They completely remove all the official elements from CAS – from hairstyles to accessories – leaving only your user-made content. This makes navigation so much easier and helps you focus on exactly what you’re looking for. Most of the time, these mods are made by starbearysims and plumbobsandcowplants: you can find hiders for pretty much every pack and expansion from them, so your CAS will only have the essentials.
More Columns in CAS v1.35 by weerbesu
The default two columns in CAS are a real pain when you’ve got hundreds of outfits and accessories installed. This mod fixes the problem by letting you expand the catalog to 3, 4, or even 5 columns – just pick whichever fits your screen size and personal taste. More columns means less scrolling and a way more convenient overview of all your content. It’s especially handy for anyone with a widescreen monitor, since you can fit loads more info on the screen without losing clarity.

Skip CAS Stories
This mod removes the Stories popup when you start a new game and takes you straight to Create-a-Sim. Perfect for those who don’t want to waste time on extra clicks and would rather jump right into creating or testing sims. Doesn’t conflict with other mods and hardly ever needs an update.

Low Basic Ballcap by @thekims4
The base ballcaps in The Sims 4 have always sat on top of heads in a pretty strange way – way too high and not at all natural, which kind of ruins the whole look. This creator fixed that by making a revamped version that actually fits and sits correctly on your sim’s head. The hat comes in two versions: one that sits more snugly, and another a bit roomier so hair doesn’t poke out awkwardly from under the cap.
Download ↑
More Traits in CAS by thepancake1 and @mizoreyukii
Who ever thought it was a good idea to limit adult sims to just three traits? This mod fixes that issue by increasing the number of trait slots for each age group – from two for toddlers to five for adults. It really opens up way more options for building complex, multidimensional sims who actually feel like real people, not cardboard cutouts. As a nice bonus, lots can also have more unique traits now.
Download ↑
Zoom out mod by @tricoufamily
After one of the updates, the zoom in CAS got way too aggressive and made it impossible to properly see your sim’s whole look. This mod sorts that out by pulling the camera back to a more reasonable distance: now you can check the details without losing sight of the bigger picture. Works for teens and up, while toddlers and kids stay the same since they weren’t affected.
Download ↑
Blob Remover by LumiaLoverSims
This mod is a real lifesaver if you’ve grabbed a nice CAS background that doesn’t automatically get rid of that annoying blob under your sim’s feet. Blob Remover hides that platform completely and leaves you with a clean background and nothing extra. Unfortunately, the mod is quite old and the creator’s official download page seems to be gone, so we’re not linking to it. If you do go looking for it, it’s easy to find on Google, but be super careful and only grab it from trusted sources – pick someone you trust. Honestly though, to be safe, it’s better to just look for CAS backgrounds that already remove the blob themselves.
Stand Still in CAS
When your sim keeps moving around and pulling faces, it’s almost impossible to properly check out their look or snap a good screenshot. Stand still pose mods get rid of all the idle animations and leave your sim standing completely still. There are loads of these mods out there, the main difference being the poses the sims freeze in – so just pick whichever vibe you like best!

CAS Backgrounds
That dull blue background is honestly the most depressing part of making a sim, and it can ruin even the perfect look. Swap it out for something more inspiring: soft gradients, chic solid colors, or even full-on interiors with furniture and decor. Your CAS screenshots will look ten times better.

CC Organizers
The more custom content you’ve got in your game, the harder it gets to find what you actually need among endless rows of previews. Organizers totally fix this problem by automatically sorting similar items into neat categories with clear names: no more scrolling through hundreds of swatches looking for the right tattoo or skintone. It’s kind of like organizing your closet, but for your CC collection!

Wrench Icon Replacements
The wrench icon on custom content can be kind of distracting when you’re trying to enjoy those nice previews, but that’s easy to fix! You can swap it out for something cuter: stars, hearts, flowers. And if you like a totally clean look, there are mods that just hide the icon altogether.

Pillow Replacement for Infants
That basic pillow in CAS for infants isn’t exactly a cute detail – it’s gray and bland, and it often draws attention away from your baby sim. Luckily, the community has come up with loads of adorable alternatives: from rainbow clouds to plushy animals, all way better for a nursery vibe. And if you’re into minimalist looks, you can get a mod that just makes infants stand up on their own and gets rid of the pillow entirely.

Glowing Hands Redux & Glowing Arms by @strangegrapefruit
Sometimes you just want to give your sim something really unusual – like glowing hands with a smooth gradient that give off a magical or supernatural vibe. This CC comes as a body scar, so it works with any outfit, and with all the colors and variations, you can really pick your favorite look. Details like these are perfect for making supernatural characters or anyone who just likes to stand out from the crowd.

CAS Sliders - Overview
Trying to figure out which sliders are working and which are broken can be a real hassle, especially when there are SO MANY, all over the place!
Thus I've created a spreadsheet containing links and status updates on most TS4 sliders out there, as I've personally checked each one (!) if they work or not in CAS.
I will try to check them every once in a while, but if you discover any changes that warrants a status update, please let me know! This will be a team-effort 🤍 And of course, if you are the creator behind any of these sliders and want me to change or add something, don't hesitate to reach out! ================================================
💎You can find the spreadsheet --here-- (Google Sheets)
================================================
I'm sure this has been shared a million times already but I wanted to put it someplace I could find it easier.
I do not claim this, credit to whoever made it.

Clear Sims 4 Cache: Fix Lags, Errors & Slow Loading (Windows & macOS)
Sometimes The Sims 4 starts acting weird: little bugs pop up, thumbnails don't display right, and loading times get a bit longer than usual. These are all pretty normal signs that it's time to clear your game cache. Deleting temporary files is a good habit for any player – it helps keep things tidy and makes everything run a little smoother. Let's figure out together what cache is, why you need to clear it, and how to do it properly and safely.
What is cache and where does it come from?
In The Sims 4, cache means temporary files and folders that the game creates to speed up loading, store thumbnails, save mod info, log errors, and handle various in-game processes.
Every time you start or play the game, it generates or updates some of these files. Cache is there so the game “remembers” which thumbnails and objects you’ve used lately, finds things quickly, and saves certain settings and operational data.
The cache includes:
— Images (thumbnails) of Sims, lots, and objects;
— Temporary settings and launch data;
— Working data from mods and scripts;
— Logs about errors, crashes, memory limit overflows, etc.
Why do you need to clear the cache?
If you don’t clear the cache regularly, it builds up old or corrupted data – which can lead to all sorts of problems:
Lags and long loading times because of excess or broken files;
Errors and crashes, especially after removing or updating mods or the game itself;
Wrong thumbnails showing: for example, an item is deleted but its thumbnail is still there;
Mod and script bugs due to leftover data;
Endless loading screens, crashes, or even corrupted saves;
Overall drop in performance.
This happens especially often if you use a lot of custom content or actively add/remove mods.
How often should you clear your cache?
1. After every game update.
2. Whenever you make changes to the Mods folder (adding, deleting, or updating mods).
3. If you notice weird bugs, really long loads, crashes, or errors.
How to clear Sims 4 cache (Windows and macOS)
Step 1
Exit the game. Never clear cache while the application is running.
Step 2
Open The Sims 4 folder:
Documents — Electronic Arts — The Sims 4
Step 3
Delete the following files and folders (important – not all of the folders or files listed below will always be in your The Sims 4 folder, and that's totally normal):
General cache
— cache (folder): holds temporary data (mostly image previews from the Gallery); this folder gets filled only while the game is running, so you can safely clear it between sessions
— cachestr (folder): cache for script mods
— onlinethumbnailcache (folder): thumbnails of Gallery items
— avatarcache.package: used mainly to fix Gallery errors on Mac, but can grow quite large
— localsimtexturecache.package: cache of composite sim textures (max size – 100 MB); deleting helps solve character display issues
— localthumbcache.package: thumbnail file; it’s useful to delete this from time to time, and absolutely after adding, deleting or updating mods
— UserData.lock: auxiliary or temporary service files, may pile up
— ReticulatedSplinesView: auxiliary or temporary service files, may pile up
— notify.glob: auxiliary or temporary service files, may pile up
— ConnectionStatus.txt: auxiliary or temporary service files, may pile up
Error logs
— lastCrash.txt (all files)
— lastException.txt (all files)
— lastUIException.txt (all files)
These log crashes and game errors. Most players don’t need these, but if you’re having constant errors you can show them on forums for troubleshooting. Old ones (with numbers) can always be deleted.
Auxiliary folders (delete only if empty)
— ConfigOverride
— Recorded Videos
— Screenshots
Step 4 (optional)
You can take it a step further and clear cache files built up by certain mods:
— BE-ExceptionReport.html (all files)
— BE-UIExceptionReport.html (all files)
— WickedWhimsInfoLog.log / WonderfulWhimsInfoLog.log
Important: Don’t delete the Saves, Tray, or Mods folders – these are your games and custom content.
Step 5
Restart the game. Sims 4 will automatically recreate all the necessary files from scratch. You may need to re-enable mods and CC in the game settings after clearing the cache.
You can make it easier
For players who want to cut down on the routine, there’s an automated solution – a Cleanup Script for Windows by @andirz-mods. This is a special one-click utility that automatically deletes all recommended temporary files and error logs, without touching your mods or save files.
It automates the cleanup, but you’ll need a Patreon subscription to the author for access.
So, to make sure you can always tidy things up quickly on your own (without scripts or third-party programs), keep this guide handy:

Important FYI: Deleting the ReticulatedSplinesView file will cause all your packs to register as "new" again. This means pop-ups on the main menu and all content will have the "new" gold star highlight again. If you're like me and painstakingly ensure all the gold star highlights are gone as soon as possible... don't delete this file.
Tired of dealing with randomly generated townies who show up with unwanted CC on them?!
Do these 3 things:
1) Use MCCC Tray Importer so that all of your randomly generated townies are from tagged households in your library. I made a tutorial here. These tagged households can or cannot include CC, it's up to you. Need some townies? I have some here and here are others. 2) Use Sims 4 Studio to disable all newly added cc for random before loading your game. I have a waiting folder for all newly added CC so I can test them and run batch fixes. More info on batch fixes can be found here. 3) Use MCCC and a dresser file so that when sims age up they get a premade outfit. May I suggest checking out @blackpanda-ts4's file here? Want more info and maybe to make your own dresser file then see here, here, and here. This a great option for historical players or if you have a limited number of packs, but def more advanced and more work. Make sure to tag all of your active households so the MCCC doesn't dresser clean them when they age up.
