“I do feel what you feel for me, and I feel it for you too” he said honestly. “You aren’t what I want to be numb from. It’s not like that.” Lane wasn’t really sure how to explain what he meant because he barely understood it himself. He just knew he was tired. Tired of dealing with his family, and dealing with school, and constantly being told he was a let down by his father. Truthfully, the only time he even desired to be sober, was when he was with her. It just so happened to be prom, and he went a little overboard. Moving closer to her as she wiped her tears away, and tried to keep herself together, he put his hands on her shoulders and pulled her into a hug. “We are growing together, that’s all I want. Nothing like that is going to happen. I promise.” His promise was a bit empty considering he couldn’t control what happened. But, he knew he would do anything to make sure nothing like that did happen to him, for her sake. He loved her, even if he hadn’t ever said it out loud. It was true.
Her eyes moving back and fourth as she read him, while he spoke to her. Breathing him in as he held her, she held onto him tightly as she shook lightly. “I can’t lose you to this, Lane” she said softly against his neck. It was hard for her to really know if Lane, really felt love for her like she did for him at times. Did she believe he loved her, yes of course she does. “You can’t promise something like that, the only thing that would assure me is if you stopped drinking so much” she said as she looked up at him, her chin trembling and her eyes watery with fear in them. Fear of losing him to alcohol, and all because of his fucked up parents. “I wish we could just.. Run away from them all and just be together.. You know?” licking her lips, tasting where her tears had fallen. Laughing softly, she rolled her eyes at herself for the way she was acting. Her new birth control had her emotions on high alert and it was driving her crazy, herself. “I need you more, than you’ll ever know” she whispered as she played with the buttons on his dress shirt. Taking him in, with his sleeves rolled up, she bit her bottom lip.
