time: 7am

sleep didn't come easy; a phenomena jasmine had experienced for the last few years and the previous night granted her no mercy. aggressive flashes of the past haunted the woman's consciousness until she feared closing her eyes for an extended period of time. usually on her restless nights, jasmine often occupied her time binging random youtube videos until it was time to unearth herself from her home and insert herself among the outside world. now the woman found herself sitting in the corner booth of the hotel restaurant in the early hours of the day, somberly watching the bustling activity of the city just outside the window. save for a few others and the staff, she seemed to be one of the very few out and about in the hotel and in that moment, jasmine allowed her mind to wander as she reminisced on less gloomy memories until she was interrupted by someone being seated at an empty table nearby. the woman spoke up as she kept her attention on the outside cityscape.

"...odd, i usually have the place to myself this early; looking for your worm, early bird?"

“Excuse me?” Aniyah started to panic, pulling over to the side of the walkway and grabbing onto the wall for support. The damsel hoped that she hadn’t felt what she thought she felt. Pulling her heel up from the ground, she felt the release of a glob of gum on the bottom of it. “No, no, no!” The anxiety began to rise in her stomach up to her chest and her breathing pattern changed. “Please, you!” The woman cried out at the first person passing by. “Give me your-your coffee stir. I need to get this gum off my Nodaleto right now!”

unbeknownst to some, jasmine oddly enjoyed using the coffee stir stick as a straw for her hot tea beverages which was why she made no move to part with it when someone called out to her asking for it. jasmine frowned as she looked down at the shoe in question. "that's unfortunate, here," the woman took a moment to scavenge through her purse before pulling out a black business card, folding it in half, and handing it over to the other. "it's laminated so you should be able to scrape that right off; courtesy of the creeps who think giving me these is the proper way to flirt." she said. "let me know if you need another, lord knows i've got plenty."

she’s pretty sure dante will kill her if she’s late again. she’s never fond of being on the receiving end of his temper, so she’s sprinting as fast as she can to get to training on time. it’s just this one next turn and then — TH UD ! next thing she knows her ass is on the ground, a groan leaving her lips as she rubs at it. “ fuck. watch where you’re going maybe ? ” she suggests in complaint to the person she ran into since it obviously wasn’t her fault.

before she could even get a proper sip from her iced green tea upon exiting the café, jasmine stopped in her tracks to rummage through her designer purse to answer the buzzing phone inside. now, the woman had lived in the city long enough to bob and weave through incoming individuals without looking but, it was different when a specific someone runs straight into her. the collision nearly knocked her off her feet as well but luckily she was able to regain her balance. her drink, however, ended up spilling over her hand and onto the ground below. shaking off the liquid, jasmine scowled at the other's reaction. "seriously? you come at me like a fucking freight train and i'm the one who needs to watch where i'm going? what is this opposite day?" she said. "ever heard of taking the train? surely it can get you where you need to go without ruining a perfectly good drink."

It didn’t happen as often as one might think, but people did stop Melly from time to time on the street if they recognized her due in part to her family being what you’d call ‘Hollywood Royalty’. Which, in itself still to this day took the woman by surprise whenever it happened. As someone who worked mainly behind the scenes, aside from a few roles here and there, or some premiers and interviews where she did show her face at, she stayed behind the camera not in front of it.

Right now though? This was another scenario all together. Some persistent fellow had decided to make Melly their person of interest for the evening, and as such couldn’t take several no’s for an answer. She’d been walking down the street, and the blonde had decided to duck into the first establishment she came across. Sidling up to the busy bar to sandwich herself onto the last available seat, she turned to one of the patrons with a warm and friendly smile. “There’s a short man a few yards behind me-reddish hair, glasses, looks like he could have his own episode of Criminal Minds where he’s the suspect?-he won’t leave me alone so the next few rounds are on me if you pretend like we know each other to some capacity. Deal?”

despite the full business, jasmine still managed to find some solace in her personal solitude as she mindlessly toyed with the straw in her glass. as her mind wandered aimlessly, she almost missed the young woman sit next to her had she not spoke up requesting jasmine's aid. brows furrowed in a mix between confusion and frustration as the other described her situation and as jasmine turned towards the exit, she could see the man in question focusing his attention right on the two of them. jasmine's scowl deepened until her expression became borderline threatening and it didn't take long for the culprit to receive the nonverbal message for he quickly and meekly made his exit. "absolutely ridiculous." she mumbled. jasmine turned back to the other with a soft smile. "no deal, I need no incentive to send a creep scurrying home with his tail between his legs— I actually look forward to it, to be honest." she said before flagging down the bartender over their way. "If anything I should buy you a drink, it must've been hell trying to duck and dodge that weirdo."

“sometimes i don’t even know why i keep doing it.” vague as fuck as caria cleaned a glass, the night was slow and she only had a few bar patrons, “a casting director today told me that i’ll never make it unless i fix my teeth.” tongue darts out to wet her lips, “they’re too crooked, apparently.” brown orbs flicker down and notice their drink is empty, taking it upon herself to refill it, “here, this one’s on me. as long as you don’t tell my boss that i’m joining you for a drink.”

chocolate hues darted around the room, quite unsure exactly whom the bartender's comment was directed to but seeing as how she was the only one sitting in front of her, jasmine figured the other was speaking to her. the following remark, however, caused a frown to form upon the woman's face. "what an asshole, I can't even imagine why they'd even focus that hard on your mouth in the first place as if your eyes aren't just a little bit higher... " she said. "my lips are sealed; besides, it sounds like to me you need one more than i do."
