“it’s not embarrassing, just a stupid mistake. Don’t let it happen again,” she said, tossing him the pack of gum he had tried to purchase in the convenience store.

“Well... had I known the Black Widow would come to my rescue today, I probably would’ve deliberately left my wallet at home,” he joked, catching the gum that had been tossed. “Thank you.” He opened the pack, pulling out two sticks of gum. “Would you care for some uh... cooling peppermint flavored gum?”

“It happens dude, it’s fine.” He shrugged at the other male. “Want me to buy it for you? I have some money left. You can pay me back later, if you want– Wait. Actually… Last time I trusted someone from the brotherhood, it didn’t go that well, so… Nevermind. I learned my lesson.”

“Nah, I’m alright. Thanks,” he smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets. He tilted his head, raising a curious brow at his next words. “Oh? How’d you know I’m from the Brotherhood? Are we that easy to spot?”

“If you wanted it that badly, why didn’t you just take it?” He said, annoyed that he’d been dragged here for nothing.

“Yeah, that... that was my bad, dude,” he gave the store one last glance before making his way down the street. “Next time I’ll wear a bigger jacket,” he laughed,  unzipping his jacket and pulling out two bags of chips from the inside pockets. “So did you want the Doritos or the Lay’s?”

“And here I thought people were smart enough to see if they’ve got enough cash on them before actually going up to pay.” Zoey voiced out as she exited the store after him, having paid for her daily dose of chocolate. “Guess not.”

“And here I thought I wouldn’t be shamed once I walked out of those doors,” Jason chuckled quietly, turning to look at the girl. “Guess not?”

After leaving the store, Jason stopped in the middle of the sidewalk. "I can’t believe I left my wallet at home,“ he examined his pockets for the umpteenth time. "... Anyway, that was the most embarrassing moment ever.”
