Samsung are launching a foldable phone (up to 1TB of storage!) along with their S10 / Plus. A bit chunky for me, but its a sign of things to come for sure, I will wait until v2 is out and is half the thickness when folded ;-) Very cool innovation though, Apple will probably try and claim this as a world first in 2025 or something :-p

Everyone needs to watch Mars; a new "docuseries" on Netflix with a perfect blend of real world quotes from today's progress and a plot set in the future of where we could be in 2037 or so. Really epic and if you are a scientist / engineer, sends excitement and inspiration to aim high and try to achieve the currently impossible. Google Play Store now open for Progressive Web Apps

In case you missed the news, progressive web apps are now supported on Google Play store! This is epic. Long live the web! No need to code native anymore for all but a few edge cases that will eventually work well with web tech too I am sure (namely AR and more unified sensor access). For most apps though you could probably write a PWA and be done with it.

No One Is Prepared for Hagfish Slime - The Atlantic

Really interesting article on #Hagfish slime. This crazy substance secreted from this eel like creature expands by 10,000x in a fraction of a second and is 100,000 softer than jello. Impressive and it is quite an interesting defence mechanism. However its unique properties couldbe useful in science too.

Inferring Light Fields from Shadows - this very interesting peice of research allows regular RGB cameras to see behind walls by analysing the shasdows cast from a known object in the hidden area. This is some kind of sourcery. Very cool even if the maths goes over my head righ tnow. After 2 weeks of researching I finally bought what I believe to be the best carry on backpack in the world: The #PeakDesign Travel Backpack. Seriously it is badass - I can easily pack for close to a month with this. This is like a Tesla of the backpack world.

Why is it cool? Maxes out size for carry on, default size 35L. Compresses down to 30L for a day pack, and expands to 45L if needed. It's weather proof, hidden pockets, easy access to main compartment from sides (useful if combined with camera cubes sold separately), easy access top pocket for glasses etc, laptop pocket, tablet pocket, removable tech front pocket, tension strings, hide away waist strap with pocket, tamper proof design (zips can be locked), oh and a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend getting 1x small and 1x medium packing cubes along with the tech pouch for easy organisation. Everything is so well thought out. I am ready to travel!
