Hey guys! I wrote a fic the other day called The Sims Mod and honestly loved working on it. That fic totally gave me my spark back for writing! Because of that, I’ve decided to add two more chapters. I’m currently writing Chapter 2, which is basically Robby secretly playing Sims with the 18+ mod (plus a little extra something 🤫). It should be ready in about two days, so make sure to follow the fic post to get notified when it's up!
Summary: Dennis finally buys his first laptop. Trinity helps him set it up and shows him The Sims… without mentioning the 18+ mod she quietly installed.
Later that night at Robby’s house, Dennis carefully builds digital versions of the two of them. Robby comes up behind him, rests his chin on Dennis’s head, and asks what he’s doing.
Then the game starts playing an animation neither of them expected.
Robby just smirks.
“Looks like we are having sex in the game… and it looks like we are having real fun.”

The Sims Mod Update!

Growing up, Dennis had never known the luxury of having his own tech. There was no desktop sitting in his bedroom, no shiny new laptop for studying, and definitely no smartphone straight out of the box. His phone had been an ancient hand-me-down from his brother that barely held a charge and took ten minutes just to load a text.
So when those first real doctor paychecks finally started hitting his bank account, there was zero hesitation about what sat right at the top of his wish list. The moment he bought that laptop, it felt like proof that he was actually making it, building a life that was fully his own.
When he brought it home, Trinity came over to help him set it up. She spent the afternoon sitting beside him, installing programs and showing him a game called The Sims. She sat with him to teach him the basic controls, showing him how to build walls and pick out furniture so he could have a way to unwind after long shifts at the hospital.
A few days later, Dennis casually mentioned to Trinity that he was heading over to spend the week at Robby’s house. The second she heard that, a terrible idea popped into her head. While Dennis was in the other room packing his bag, Trinity quickly opened up his laptop, downloaded an intense 18+ mod packed with explicit animations, and hid it inside the game files without saying a single word.
Later that evening, Dennis was sitting at the table in Robby’s house, completely lost in the screen. He had spent the last hour carefully crafting two digital people until they were split images of himself and Robby, picking out their clothes and setting up a cozy virtual house. There was a quiet warmth in his chest as he worked, genuinely excited about what he was making.
Robby walked into the room with quiet steps, coming up behind Dennis to see what had kept him so quiet. He leaned down, resting his head comfortably right on top of Dennis’s head, his arms coming down to rest heavy on the armrests of the chair. He effectively boxed Dennis in, his chin digging lightly into Dennis's hair.
"What are you doing?" Robby asked softly, his deep voice rumbling low right against the top of Dennis's head.
Dennis leaned back into the solid warmth of Robby’s chest, his eyes bright with excitement. "Nothing, just playing a game Trinity showed me."
Robby shifted slightly, tilting his head down to glance at the monitor where two small digital figures were standing in a freshly painted kitchen. "And what do you do?"
Dennis tilted his head back, resting against Robby's chest as a bright, eager grin spread across his face. "So basically, you can do whatever you want in it. You create your own people, build a house, and just... control them doing normal everyday stuff." He tapped the trackpad, pointing proudly at the screen. "Look, I made us. That's you right there brewing a fresh pot of coffee, and that's me staring out the kitchen window.”
"Can I try?" Robby asked, tapping the top of the chair.
Dennis looked up at him, a fond grin breaking across his face. "Of course."
Dennis pushed back from the table and stood up, offering the seat. As Robby sat down, Dennis leaned over his shoulder to point at the screen, walking him through the basics. He showed him how to move the camera, select objects, and click on characters. Once he was sure Robby had the hang of it, Dennis turned toward the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
Behind him, Robby started clicking around, his voice carrying over the sound of running water. "You really nailed these models. The clothes, the hair... it is kind of scary how accurate you made us look."
"I told you," Dennis called back with a proud chuckle, filling up a glass. "I spent an hour just getting your hair right."
Then, the living room went completely quiet.
Dennis waited for another comment, but nothing came. Holding his glass of water, he walked back over, glancing at the table.
Robby was sitting completely frozen in the chair. His gaze was glued to the monitor, and a deep, furious blush had spread across his cheeks, turning the tips of his ears bright red.
"What did you do?" Dennis asked, stepping closer to check the screen.
There, right in the middle of the virtual master bedroom, their two digital characters were completely uncensored, tangled up on the bed in a wild, detailed animation.
Robby didn't look away. A slow, amused smirk spread across his face as he leaned closer to the monitor to get a better view. "Looks like we are having sex in the game," he said, his voice low and smooth. He tilted his head slightly, watching the screen with a dark spark in his eye. "And it looks like we are having real fun."
Dennis practically slammed the glass of water down onto the table, splashing water over the edge, and frantically reached out to slap the laptop lid shut. "Don't look at that!" he yelled in complete embarrassment. He hovered over the closed laptop, his face burning hot as his brain scrambled for an explanation. "This doesn't happen in this game! I didn't do it!"
Robby turned in the chair, looking up at Dennis with a lazy, teasing smile. "Well, you might have done something, because that was clearly in the game."
"I didn't! I swear I was just picking out kitchen tiles!" Dennis stammered, his cheeks turning a deep, fiery red as he tried desperately to defend himself. "Trinity was using my laptop before I came over, she must have put something in the files, I literally have no idea how…"
Robby stood up from the chair, cutting off Dennis's frantic rambling. He stepped into Dennis's space, backing him right up against the edge of the table. His expression shifted, his gaze darkening as his voice dropped into a low, heavy rasp.
"If you wanted to see us have sex this bad, you could have just asked, you know," Robby whispered, leaning in so close his breath brushed right against Dennis's mouth.
Dennis’s heart did a violent flip in his chest. His back hit the hard edge of the table, pinning him in place as Robby’s solid weight moved right up against him.
"I... it wasn't like that!" Dennis gasped, his hands flying up to press against Robby’s chest. But instead of shoving him back, his fingers ended up gripping the warm fabric of Robby's shirt, clutching it tight as his entire body flushed with heat. "I didn't even know that was possible in a computer game!"
"Right," Robby murmured, a low rumble that Dennis felt all the way through his palms. He didn't give Dennis an inch of breathing room. Instead, he stepped right between Dennis’s knees, trapping him completely against the edge of the furniture. "So it's just a crazy coincidence that you built us a bedroom, brought me over here, and suddenly we're putting on a show?"
"Trinity set me up!" Dennis stammered, his voice straining into a desperate whisper as Robby leaned down even closer. "I swear on my life, Trinity installed something before I packed my bag!"
"Maybe she did," Robby whispered, his eyes dragging down from Dennis’s wide, panicked gaze to land heavily on his mouth. "Or maybe she just gave you an excuse."
Robby reached out, his thick fingers threading tightly into the hair at the nape of Dennis’s neck. He gave a firm, subtle tug backward, forcing Dennis to tilt his head up and expose the long, flushed line of his throat.
Dennis let out a sharp, hitching breath, his lips parting naturally as a shiver ran down his spine. "Robby..."
"You spent an hour getting my face right, didn't you?" Robby rough whispered against his lips, his thumb pressing firmly into the corner of Dennis's mouth, tracing his lower lip and pushing it down just enough to catch the hot breath escaping Dennis's lungs. "All that effort to make us look real in a game... when the real thing is right here."
"I just wanted it to be accurate," Dennis admitted in a breathless, helpless rush, completely abandoning his frantic defense as Robby's heat and closeness completely overwhelmed him.
Robby’s dark smirk melted into something raw and heavy. "Well, let me show you how accurate we can really get."
Robby’s mouth came down hard on Dennis’s, his lips hot and demanding as he deepened the kiss. His one hand stayed locked at the back of Dennis’s neck, fingers tangled in his hair to keep his head tilted up, while his other hand slid firmly around Dennis’s hip, dragging him flush against his body.
Dennis let out a muffled breath into Robby’s mouth as their bodies collided. Pressed tightly together against the edge of the table, Dennis could feel the distinct, heavy press of Robby’s hard dick against his thigh.
A sharp spark of desire shot through Dennis, instantly burning away whatever panic he had left. His hand slid down from Robby’s chest, reaching lower until his palm found the front of Robby’s jeans. He gripped the thick ridge through the fabric and began to slowly, firmly rub up and down along the length, feeling Robby tense up and groan directly into his mouth at the sudden touch.
Robby’s hips pushed forward into the pressure without hesitation. His free hand left Dennis’s hip and dropped between them, yanking open the button of Dennis’s own jeans with a rough tug. The zipper followed in one sharp pull. Robby shoved his hand inside, past the waistband of Dennis’s boxers, and closed his fingers around the hard length waiting there.
Dennis’s breath hitched hard against Robby’s mouth. His hips jerked once at the direct contact. Robby stroked him in a steady, deliberate rhythm, thumb dragging over the head on every upward pull. The wet heat of precome made the slide easier almost immediately.
Dennis kept working Robby through the denim, palm pressing and rubbing with more urgency now. He could feel the exact shape of him, thick and solid and already straining against the fabric. Robby broke the kiss just long enough to drag his mouth down the side of Dennis’s neck, biting lightly at the skin there before speaking low against it.
“Mmm. Let’s go into the real bedroom. What do you think, baby?”
Dennis nodded without hesitation.
Robby’s hands dropped, gripping Dennis’s ass firmly and hauling him up in one strong motion. Dennis locked his legs around Robby’s waist on instinct, arms looping around his shoulders for balance. He leaned down immediately and kissed him again, deeper this time, as Robby carried him across the living room and down the short hallway toward the bedroom.
The door was already half open. Robby kicked it the rest of the way with his foot and walked straight to the bed, never breaking the kiss. He set Dennis down on the edge of the mattress and followed him forward, crowding between his knees. Both of them were still half-dressed, jeans shoved low on their hips, but neither of them cared enough to stop and fix it yet.
Robby’s hands went straight to the hem of Dennis’s shirt and pulled it up and off. Dennis lifted his arms to help, then reached for Robby’s in return, dragging the soft fabric over his head and tossing it aside. The second their bare chests touched, Robby pushed him further back onto the bed and climbed over him, knees bracketing Dennis’s hips.
He kissed him again, slower now but no less intense, while his hands worked the rest of Dennis’s clothes the rest of the way off. Jeans and boxers hit the floor in a messy pile. Robby’s followed a moment later. When he settled his weight fully between Dennis’s spread thighs, the heat of skin on skin made Dennis’s breath catch hard in his throat.
Robby braced himself on one forearm and reached down between them with the other hand, wrapping his fingers around both of them again. He started stroking in long, steady pulls, the wet friction already easy from how turned on they both were. Dennis’s hips rolled up into the motion without thinking, chasing the pressure.
“Like that?” Robby asked against his mouth, voice rough.
Dennis nodded, fingers digging into Robby’s back. “Yeah. Keep going.”
Robby kept stroking them together for another few moments, then shifted his weight slightly. He brought his free hand up and pressed two fingers against Dennis’s mouth.
Dennis opened without being told, taking the fingers in and sucking them slowly, wetting them thoroughly with saliva. The heat of his tongue and the soft pressure of his lips made Robby’s breath catch.
When Robby pulled his fingers free they were slick and shining. He smirked down at Dennis, then leaned in and kissed him hard again. At the same time his hand slid down between Dennis’s legs, fingers finding his entrance. He pressed one finger against it and pushed in slowly, steadily, until it was buried to the knuckle.
Dennis moaned into the kiss, the sound low and shaky as the stretch registered. His hips twitched once, then settled as Robby held still, giving him a second to adjust.
Robby broke the kiss just enough to speak against his mouth, voice rough and quiet.
“You like that, baby? How my fingers stretch you open?”
Dennis nodded quickly, eyes half-lidded, and leaned up to kiss him again. Robby answered the kiss while he started to move his finger in slow, careful thrusts, working him open with steady patience.
Robby worked a second finger in beside the first, stretching Dennis carefully until the resistance eased. When he was satisfied Dennis was ready, he slowly pulled his fingers free.
He shifted lower and started kissing along the side of Dennis’s neck, open-mouthed and deliberate. He sucked at the skin, teeth scraping lightly, leaving dark marks as he went. Dennis’s hand found Robby’s hair and pulled gently, the sharp little tug of pleasure making Robby hum against his throat.
Robby moved lower, dragging his mouth across Dennis’s chest, then down the center of his stomach. He paused at the sharp line of his hip before settling between his spread thighs. He kissed the sensitive skin of Dennis’s inner thigh first, then turned his head and pressed soft, open kisses along the hard length of his cock.
Dennis’s breath stuttered. Robby took him into his mouth and sucked slowly for several minutes, tongue working along the underside, one hand steadying the base. When he finally pulled off, Dennis was flushed and breathing hard.
Robby didn’t give him time to recover. He slid further down, hooked his arms under Dennis’s thighs, and lowered his mouth to his entrance. He licked a long, slow stripe over it, then started eating him out in earnest, tongue pushing in deep and wet.
Dennis’s hand stayed tangled in Robby’s hair. His other hand gripped Robby’s shoulder, fingers digging in as the dual sensation of the earlier stretch and the hot pressure of Robby’s mouth made his thighs tremble.
Robby finally pulled back, lips shiny and wet. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and shifted up the bed, settling between Dennis’s thighs again. He lined himself up at Dennis’s entrance, the blunt head pressing against the slick, stretched rim.
One of his hands ran slowly up Dennis’s arm, then across his stomach, grounding him. He started pushing in carefully, inch by inch, watching Dennis’s face the whole time.
Dennis’s mouth fell open on a hard, broken moan as the thick stretch filled him. His back arched off the mattress.
Robby smirked down at him, eyes dark with heat.
“Yeah, baby. Keep making those pretty sounds for me.”
He kept going until he was buried all the way inside. Then he hooked his hands under Dennis’s knees and pushed his legs up, draping them over his shoulders the same way the two digital versions of them had been positioned in the game. The new angle let him sink even deeper.
Robby pulled almost all the way out, then drove back in hard. He set a steady, deep rhythm right away, hips snapping forward with each thrust, the sound of skin meeting skin filling the quiet bedroom.
Dennis’s hand slid up Robby’s body and found the thick hair covering his chest, then trailed lower over the soft, hairy curve of his belly. His fingers curled into the hair there as another moan spilled out of him.
Robby’s thrusts picked up speed, the rhythm growing harder and faster. His hands stayed locked under Dennis’s knees, holding his legs tight against his shoulders as he drove in deep.
“Yes, baby,” Robby groaned, voice rough and strained. “You’re taking me so good.”
Dennis’s grip on Robby’s belly tightened with every sharp thrust. His head tipped back against the pillow, mouth open, the wet slap of their bodies filling the room as Robby kept pounding into him without slowing down.
Dennis’s breath hitched hard between moans. His fingers flexed against Robby’s hairy belly as he tried to get the words out.
“I… I want to…”
He trailed off, too overwhelmed to finish.
Robby leaned down without breaking his rhythm, still driving into him deep and steady. His voice came low and rough right against Dennis’s ear.
“Talk to me, baby. What do you need?”
Dennis swallowed, eyes glassy.
“I want to kiss you.”
Robby’s mouth curved into a smirk. He shifted his grip, pushing Dennis’s legs wider open while keeping them firmly in his hands. Then he leaned all the way down and kissed him hard and messy, tongues sliding together, wet and urgent, as his hips kept snapping forward without missing a beat.
The kiss broke after a long moment, both of them breathing hard against each other’s mouths.
Dennis’s voice came out shaky and urgent.
“I’m close, baby. So close.”
Robby pulled out carefully, the sudden emptiness making Dennis whimper. He put a hand on Dennis’s hip and spoke low.
“Turn around for me.”
Dennis moved fast, rolling onto his stomach and pushing up onto his hands and knees. Robby was right behind him in an instant, lining up and pushing back inside in one smooth, deep thrust. His stomach pressed flush against Dennis’s back. Both of his arms wrapped tightly around him, one across his chest and the other around his stomach, holding him close as he started fucking him harder and faster.
The new angle and the speed pushed Dennis over the edge almost immediately. His whole body tensed as the orgasm hit, a broken moan tearing out of him while he came hard onto the sheets beneath them.
Robby buried his face against the side of Dennis’s neck, kissing and licking the damp skin, then sucking another mark into it. His beard scratched roughly against Dennis’s throat with every movement. Dennis’s hand flew back and tangled in Robby’s hair again, gripping tight as the aftershocks rolled through him and Robby kept driving into him without slowing down.
Robby’s rhythm stayed hard and deep, his arms locked tight around Dennis’s chest and stomach. His breath was hot and uneven against the side of Dennis’s neck.
“I’m close, sweetheart,” he said, voice rough. “Where do you want me to come?”
Dennis answered almost immediately, the words tumbling out between broken breaths.
“Inside, Robby. Please. I want to feel you.”
Robby groaned low against his skin and drove in harder, burying himself as deep as he could go. His hips snapped forward a few more times before he finally slammed in all the way and held there, coming hard inside Dennis with a long, shaky groan. His arms tightened even more, pulling Dennis flush against him as the pulses of his orgasm filled him.
When both of their orgasms finally eased, Robby collapsed forward, his full weight settling over Dennis’s back. He kept his arms wrapped tightly around him, holding on even as their breathing slowly started to even out.
They stayed like that for a few quiet minutes, skin sticky and warm, the room silent except for the soft sound of their breaths.
Then Robby’s voice came low and teasing against the side of Dennis’s neck.
“I love this game. You should be playing it more often.”
Dennis let out a short, breathless laugh.
“Shut up.”
Robby laughed too, the sound warm and rough, and pressed a slow kiss to the same spot on Dennis’s neck where his beard had been scratching earlier. He stayed there a moment longer before carefully pulling out. Dennis made a small sound at the sudden emptiness.
Robby rolled onto his back and immediately reached for him, pulling Dennis over so he was stretched out on top of him, chest to chest. One of Robby’s hands settled low on Dennis’s back while the other stroked lazily through his hair.
They stayed like that, quiet and close, the earlier intensity settling into something softer.
Dennis shifted slightly against Robby’s chest, his voice quiet but clear.
“I love you.”
Robby’s expression softened into a real smile. His hand slid up from Dennis’s back to cup the side of his face.
“I love you too.”
He pulled Dennis up just enough so their mouths could meet again, the kiss slow and deep this time, unhurried. There was no urgency left in it, only the quiet certainty of everything that had just passed between them.
Notes: Hello everybody! Hope you like this one shot of The Pitt x The Sims. I’ve had this idea for a while and I finally wrote it.
Summary: From the moment he first saw you, Jack knew he had a soft spot for you. But he was far too sharp to make things weird, and he certainly was not going to be the guy who made a resident barely in their twenties feel uncomfortable. He kept his hands in his pockets, kept his comments light, and made a conscious choice to step back.

Notes: Hey everyone! Sorry I disappeared for a while. I haven’t really had the motivation to write anything new or update my older fics lately, but this is one of my new ones. Sorry if it’s not perfect. If you spot any mistakes, please feel free to tell me in the comments. Also, I was thinking of writing a part 2 for this story. Let me know if you’d like that idea!

Jack Abbot had spent his entire career mastering the art of staying unfazed. Smooth, relaxed, and entirely averse to unnecessary drama, he was the kind of guy who kept his personal life behind a firm boundary and his head cool under the absolute worst emergency room chaos.
Then you walked into the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center for your residency, and the quiet rhythm he had built for years vanished.
From the moment he first saw you, Jack knew he had a soft spot for you. But he was far too sharp to make things weird, and he certainly was not going to be the guy who made a resident barely in their twenties feel uncomfortable. He kept his hands in his pockets, kept his comments light, and made a conscious choice to step back.
Still, old habits started slipping. Suddenly, Jack was pulling into the hospital parking lot thirty minutes before his shift even started. He would wander into the pit early, holding a paper cup of cold coffee, just for the chance to cross paths with you in the hallway, trade a few words, and watch you smile before the daily madness took over. The rest of the staff noticed the sudden change in his routine, but because it was Jack, everyone just assumed he had some new personal project going on and let it slide.
When you finally finished your residency, officially stepped up as an attending doctor, and chose the grueling night shift, the boundaries between you two naturally softened. Free from the formal teacher and student setup, Jack stopped hiding his fondness so carefully. The quiet compliments started slipping out more often, and his eyes were never far away whenever you were managing a heavy case.
It was nearly three in the morning when the sheer weight of the shift caught up to you. You were leaning your back against the tall wooden counter at the main station, rubbing the dull ache at the base of your neck while waiting for labs to pop up on the monitor.
"You look like hell, kid."
You opened your tired eyes and turned around. Jack was standing right there, leaning casually against the door frame with his hands resting loose in his pockets.
"Just exhausted. Waiting for the results, Dr. Abbot," you murmured, pulling yourself upright to try and look a little more awake.
Jack watched you, that familiar slow smirk spreading across his face. It was the look he only ever wore when he was in a genuinely good mood, despite the noise and chaos around them.
"Don't run yourself into the ground," he said softly, taking a step toward you. "You already put in way too many hours." He paused for a second, his dark eyes staying on yours just a beat longer than necessary. "And lose the formal title. I am not Robby. Everyone in this building calls me Jack, so there is no reason for you to keep calling me Dr. Abbot."
A small smile touched your lips despite how tired you felt. "Okay. Thank you, Jack."
A soft chime came from the computer screen as the patient's lab panel finally populated. You turned back to the display, pointing to the line of numbers. "What do you make of these liver enzymes?"
Instead of just looking over your shoulder, Jack stepped up right behind you. He rested one hand flat on the wooden counter beside your hip, leaning in so close that you could instantly feel the warm heat radiating off him in the chilly ER air. The sharp, clean scent of the hospital faded for a moment, replaced by the faint mix of his cologne, fresh coffee, and leather.
"Let me take a look," he murmured right near your ear, his calm breath lightly catching the edge of your hair as his eyes scanned the screen over your shoulder.
"They are looking good," Jack said softly, his deep voice vibrating right near the back of your neck.
He leaned in a fraction closer, pointing a long finger toward the screen to track the numbers. "AST and ALT are both back down in the normal range. Whatever toxic reaction you were worried about, their liver is clearing it out fine."
You let out a long breath you didn't even realize you were holding, the tension finally leaving your shoulders. "Thank God. I was convinced we were heading toward acute failure."
"You caught it early," Jack murmured, his tone shifting from clinical to genuinely proud. "Your instincts were spot on. You just need to trust them a little more instead of stressing yourself out at three in the morning."
He lingered behind you for another beat, his shoulder lightly brushing yours before he finally stepped back to give you some room. The sudden rush of cooler air felt almost jarring after the heat of his presence.
Jack slid his hands back into the pockets of his scrub pants, that lingering smirk still playing on his lips as he looked down at you. "Now that the lab panic is over, you are taking a twenty minute break. Go get some water, sit down, and stop staring at glowing screens for five minutes."
"I still have chart notes to finish," you protested lightly, though the exhaustion was pulling heavy at your eyelids.
"That wasn't a suggestion, doc," Jack replied smoothly, resting his weight on one foot as he held your gaze. "Go take a break, or I will personally drag a chair over here and make you sit in it."
"Fine, I will go," you said, throwing your hands up in mild surrender as you looked at Jack.
He was standing there with his arms crossed over his chest, a look of pure, smug satisfaction spread across his face as he watched you finally step away from the desk.
You walked into the quiet breakroom, brewed a fresh cup of coffee, and headed out through the heavy double doors into the cool night air outside the ER entrance. You lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag and letting the smoke mix with the steam rising from your coffee cup.
"Hey there. Rough shift?"
You turned to see Doctor Shen stepping out into the night air.
"Hey, Shen. No, just Jack wanted me to take a break, so I'm making the most out of it," you said, taking another sip of your coffee.
Shen huffed out a short, cynical laugh. "Of course he wanted you to take a break."
You looked at him, your eyebrows pulling together in confusion. "Why do you say it like that?"
Shen rolled his eyes lightly. "Oh, come on. You can't be that blind."
"I really don't understand what you mean," you insisted, shifting your coffee cup to your other hand.
Shen huffed again and shook his head, leaning slightly against the exterior wall. "Jack has a thing for you, sweetheart."
Your eyes went wide, the cigarette resting frozen between your fingers. "Jack has a thing for me? Why would you even say that?"
Shen didn't answer right away. He took a slow, deliberate sip from his Dunkin' Donuts cup, letting the silence hang between you for a moment while the realization settled in your chest.
"You need to open your eyes," Shen said simply, tapping the rim of his cup against yours before turning around and heading back inside, leaving you standing alone in the quiet dark to process everything he had just said.
After dropping the cigarette butt into the metal urn, you stepped back into the chill of the ER, your mind spinning. You finished your remaining charts at the station, but your focus was shot. Every memory of the past few months kept replaying through a completely new lens, like Jack coming in early, the way he casually dropped his formal title, and the heat of him standing just a little too close behind you at the monitor.
Before you could fully unpack it all, the blare of the wall intercom shattered the quiet.
"Trauma one, incoming double MVA, five minutes out!"
Jack stepped out of an exam room, adjusting the collar of his scrubs, his eyes immediately searching the central floor until they locked onto yours.
"Hey, with me. Right now," he called out, gesturing sharply toward the bay.
You snapped into gear, falling into step beside him as the doors burst open and the paramedics rolled the first gurney through. For the next hour, it was pure chaos. You worked fast, managing the airway, calling for blood products, and running procedures in tight sync with Jack.
You did your absolute best to stay focused on the patient, but Shen's words were buzzing in the back of your head like a persistent hum.
Every single time your eyes met Jack's across the trauma bed to confirm a dosage, you caught yourself searching his expression. Every fleeting moment of physical contact, whether it was his hand brushing against yours as you passed him a chest tube or his arm briefly pressing against your shoulder while you both leaned over to check a line, sent a sharp spike through your chest.
Before tonight, you would have dismissed it as the casual, cramped proximity of a busy trauma bay. Now, every small gesture felt heavy with an unspoken meaning you could not ignore.
Once the chaos in the trauma bay finally died down and the patient was stabilized and transferred upstairs, the room fell into a quiet lull. You stood by the stainless steel sink, washing the iodine and prep off your hands, trying to process the frantic hour while Shen's words still bounced around in your head.
You heard the soft click of the door and turned to see Jack stepping back inside. He grabbed a paper towel, drying his hands as he walked over to you.
"Hey, you okay?" he asked softly.
You took a slow, deep breath, pulling off your gloves and tossing them into the bin. "Yeah, I am fine. Why?"
Jack took a step closer, dropping his voice so it did not carry out into the hallway. "You just were a little out of your head back there."
His dark eyes were searching yours with genuine concern, completely focused on you in a way that made your heart skip a beat. Caught off guard and not knowing what to say without blurtout what Shen had told you outside, you instinctively put your guard back up.
"Yeah, sorry. You are right," you said quickly, backing up a step toward the doorway. "It is not gonna happen again."
Before he could respond or question you further, you turned around and left the trauma bay, leaving Jack standing alone in the room, watching you walk away.
By the time seven in the morning rolled around, the night shift finally ground to a halt. Your body felt heavy with exhaustion, but your mind was still racing.
You walked into the staff locker room, letting the door click shut behind you. Shen was standing near his locker, pulling his jacket on and swapping his scrubs for regular clothes after finishing the same grueling night shift. You glanced around to make sure nobody else was tucked between the aisles, satisfied that you two were completely alone.
"Hey, about the conversation we had earlier," you said, stepping up to the row of lockers. "What made you think that? Because I think I am losing my mind and I could barely focus all night, so please just tell me."
Shen stopped mid-motion, his hand still on the locker door. He looked at you for a second, seeing the genuine panic and exhaustion written all over your face, before he let out a low sigh and turned around fully.
"You really don't see it, do you?" Shen asked, resting his shoulder against the cold metal locker. "Look, it is not just one thing. It is literally everything he does around you."
He crossed his arms, leaning in a bit closer. "Jack is the night shift attending, okay? The man used to roll into the pit at the exact minute his shift started, hand off the floor, and stick strictly to business. Now he is pulling into the parking lot half an hour early every single night, sitting at the counter, just waiting for you to walk by before the chaos starts. And the way he looks at you when you two are running a trauma together? He does not look at any of the other doctors on the night crew like that."
You opened your mouth to say something, but Shen held up a hand.
"And do not get me started on the touchy stuff," Shen added with a slight smirk. "The man is practically hovering over you every chance he gets. He gives you space when you need it, but the second he can get close, he takes it. Trust me, everyone working nights with Jack can see it clear as day. You are the only one in this hospital who was out of the loop."
Before you could digest any of that, the heavy door to the locker room swung open, and the sound of footsteps echoed off the tile floor.
The heavy footsteps belonged to Jack, who stepped around the corner of the locker aisle, pulling his keys out of his scrub pocket.
Shen caught your eye, gave you a subtle, knowing wink, and picked up his bag. "See you guys tomorrow night," Shen said smoothly, brushing past Jack and letting the heavy locker room door click shut behind him.
That left just the two of you in the quiet room.
Jack stayed right where he was, leaning his back against the row of lockers across from yours. His dark eyes held yours with a steady, quiet intensity as he took in your tense posture and the wide, anxious look on your face.
"So," Jack said, his tone low, calm, and completely unhurried. "Can you tell me what was all that about earlier?"
You stood frozen against the metal lockers, your heart hammering against your ribs. Your mind scrambled for an answer, a cover story, or any excuse at all, but with Shen's words still echoing in your ears and Jack standing just a few feet away looking right through you, you didn't know what to say.
Jack tilted his head slightly, that familiar, faint smirk softening his expression as he waited for you to speak. "Take your time," he added quietly, crossing his arms over his chest. "I am not going anywhere."
Why?" was all you managed to get out, the word hanging fragile in the quiet air between you.
Jack looked a little confused, his brow furrowing slightly as his smirk faded into genuine curiosity. "Why what?"
"Why are you always... why..." You groaned, running a hand over your face in utter frustration. "Fuck."
Jack didn't laugh or brush it off. He slowly dropped his arms to his sides and took a quiet step closer, his eyes fixed on yours with that same steady, intense focus. The cool metal of the lockers pressed against your back as he stopped just a couple of feet away, close enough that you could catch that familiar trace of cedar and coffee.
"Hey," he murmured, his voice dropping into that smooth, grounded register he used when he wanted your complete attention. "Take a breath. You are talking in half-sentences, kid. What is going on in that head of yours?"
"I had a conversation with Shen and he told me something and I don't know if it's true," you said, your voice barely above a whisper as you kept your eyes glued to the scuffed floor tile, completely unable to look him in the face.
The silence that followed was heavy. Jack didn't push right away. He just stood there, letting your words settle in the quiet locker room while the distant hum of the hospital faded into the background.
"Shen, huh?" Jack finally spoke, his voice quiet, calm, and completely devoid of anger. He took one slow step forward, closing the remaining space until his shoes were almost touching yours. "And what exact wisdom did Shen impart on you during your coffee break?"
You kept your head down, your breath catching in your throat as you felt the heat of his presence right in front of you.
Jack reached out, his fingers gently brushing against your chin to tip your face up until you had no choice but to look at him. His dark eyes were soft, searching your face with an intensity that made your chest ache. His smirk was entirely gone, replaced by something far more honest and vulnerable than you had ever seen on him.
"Come on," he murmured, his thumb resting lightly near your jawline. "Look at me and tell me what he said. Let me set the record straight."
You stared directly into his dark eyes, your heart pounding loudly against your ribs as the feeling of his thumb warm against your jaw made every nerve ending tingle.
Fuck it.
"He said you have a thing for me," you blurted out, the words tumbling out all at once. "And everyone seems to think that and see that except for me."
The locker room fell dead silent.
Jack didn't flinch. He didn't pull his hand away, either. For a second, his thumb just stayed rested against your jaw, his fingers holding your gaze level with his own. The steady, unfazed doctor who always had a witty comeback or a smooth smirk seemed to freeze, his eyes softening as he truly looked at you.
Then, a slow, quiet breath escaped his lips. He let his hand slide down from your chin, but he didn't step back. Instead, he rested his palm flat against the cold metal locker right beside your head, effectively trapping you in his space.
"Shen needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut," Jack murmured, his voice dropping an octave, rich and dangerously smooth.
You blinked, your chest rising and falling fast. "So he was lying?"
Jack let out a quiet, breathless laugh, his gaze dropping to your lips for a split second before rising back to meet your eyes.
"I didn't say that," Jack said softly, his dark eyes burning with an honesty that made your breath catch completely. "I just said he needs to stay out of my business. But if you want the truth from me instead of hospital gossip..." He leaned in just a fraction closer, his warmth wrapping around you in the cool morning air. "...the kid isn't wrong."
You stood there stunned. Everything Shen had told you was completely, undeniably true. The early arrivals, the close proximity, the quiet looks across the trauma bay, it was all real, and it had been happening right in front of you the entire time.
"So why didn't you say anything?" you managed to get out, shaking your head in utter disbelief at yourself. "Fuck, I am so blind."
Jack let out a low, quiet chuckle, his thumb gently tracing a small circle against the side of your neck before his hand slid down to rest lightly on your shoulder.
"You're not blind," Jack said softly, his voice smooth and steady. "You were focusing on surviving your residency and doing your job. That's what you were supposed to be doing."
He leaned in a little closer, his gaze locked onto yours with absolute sincerity.
"And as for why I didn't say anything? Come on. I was your attending. You were a resident barely in your twenties, and the last thing I was ever going to do was make you feel uncomfortable, or backed into a corner, or like you had to deal with some senior doctor throwing himself at you."
Jack paused, his dark eyes softening as he looked down at you.
"I made a promise to myself to keep my hands in my pockets and give you your space until you were finished with residency and on solid ground. But now you're a doctor on nights with me. You're holding your own, you're brilliant at what you do, and..." He let out a soft breath, his smirk returning, warm and genuine. "...I ran out of excuses to keep my distance."
"So you had... all these years you had a thing for me? Out of all people, me?"
Your voice wavered slightly, the words sounding surreal as they echoed in the quiet locker room.
Jack didn't hesitate. He looked at you with a quiet, undeniable intensity, the playful smirk fading into something much deeper and remarkably sincere.
"Out of all people, you," he repeated softly, his voice low and firm. "Right from the start."
He shifted his weight, his fingers lingering gently on your shoulder, sending a wave of heat straight through your scrub top.
"You think I show up thirty minutes early to sit in a cold ER for the hospital coffee?" Jack asked, a faint, breathless laugh escaping him. "You think I stand over your shoulder at three in the morning just to look at liver enzymes? It has always been you. You're brilliant, you're stubborn, you care so much it almost drives you crazy, and I couldn't keep my eyes off you if I tried."
He stepped in just half an inch closer, his chest almost touching yours, holding your gaze so steadily that your chest tightened.
"I spent years watching you become the doctor you are today, staying out of your way so you could shine on your own," Jack murmured, his hand slowly trailing down your arm until his warm fingers brushed against your wrist. "So don't act like it's some mystery. It was always going to be you."
You looked him right in the eyes, the tension suddenly melting out of your chest as a small, disbelieving smile broke across your face.
"Still kinda weird," you murmured, letting out a quiet laugh.
Jack threw his head back with a low, genuine laugh of his own, the sound warm and easy in the empty room, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners. "Yeah? Well, fair enough," he admitted, resting his hands loosely on his hips as he looked down at you.
You took a small breath, the lingering exhaustion of the night shift completely forgotten as you looked up at him. "I... I had a thing for you too. But I thought you didn't see me like that, so I just let it pass."
Jack stopped laughing. His eyes widened just a fraction, caught completely off guard, before that slow, familiar smirk spread across his face, broader and warmer than you had ever seen it.
"Is that right?" Jack murmured, stepping right back into your space, his voice dropping into that smooth, quiet tone. "You had a soft spot for your attending the whole time?"
"I was trying to be professional," you said, a small smirk pulling at your own lips now.
"So was I," Jack replied, his gaze dropping to your lips for a lingering second before rising back to yours. He reached out, his long fingers gently catching your hand, wrapping his warmth around your knuckles. "Looks like we both wasted a hell of a lot of time being professional, doc."
You looked up at Jack, and he looked back down at you, his dark eyes filled with a quiet, steady heat that made the rest of the world vanish. The noise of the hospital, the endless night shifts, and the years of holding back suddenly felt like distant background noise.
"I don't want to waste any more time," Jack said softly, his voice low and completely devoid of any remaining hesitation.
"Me neither," you murmured, your chest rising with a soft breath.
Before the words could even fully fade, Jack closed the last few inches between you. He cupped the back of your neck with his warm palm, his thumb resting gently against your jawline, and pulled you in as he leaned down.
The moment his lips met yours, everything aligned. The kiss was deep, slow, and full of years of built up tension finally breaking free. He tasted like faint coffee, warm and entirely familiar, his other hand coming around your waist to pull you firm against his chest. You reached up, your fingers tangling into the soft fabric of his scrubs, leaning into his heat as the quiet locker room melted away around you both.
The kiss did not break quickly. It remained slow, deep, and heavy with years of unspoken emotion finally spilling over. When his lips slowly parted from yours, Jack stayed close, resting his forehead against yours while his breath hitched softly in his chest.
"Would you like to come to my place?" Jack asked, his voice dropping into a tender, hesitant tone as a flicker of concern flashed through his dark eyes, worried he might be moving too fast for you after everything that had just come to light.
A genuine smile tugged at your lips as you looked up into his face. "I would love to."
The relief was instant. Jack broke into a wide, brilliant smile that transformed his whole face, the tight line of his shoulders relaxing completely. He squeezed your waist once before gently letting you go, taking your hand in his and lacing his fingers through yours as you both got ready to finally leave the hospital together.
The whole drive was amazing. The view outside was quiet and blurred with the morning light, but the best part was the quick glances Jack kept taking at you every chance he got, almost like he couldn't believe you were actually sitting right there in his passenger seat. You couldn't take your eyes off him either, watching the way his hands held the steering wheel and how the tight, tired line of his jaw had completely relaxed.
When you finally arrived at Jack's house and stepped inside, the quiet warmth of his home wrapped around you, the door clicked shut behind you, and the world outside, the sodium orange glow of streetlamps, the distant wail of a siren, the bone deep ache of a twelve hour shift, simply ceased to exist.
Jack's home smelled like cedar and fresh laundry. Something quiet hummed in the walls. He bent to slip off his boots, and you did the same with your sneakers, your fingers clumsy with exhaustion.
Before you could straighten up, his hands found yours.
Warm. Dry. Certain.
He pulled you into him without a word, and his mouth came down on yours. Not hurried. Not tentative. Just arriving. Like he had been waiting all night to taste this exact moment. His lips moved with a patience that made your chest tighten, his tongue tracing the seam of your mouth until you opened for him with a sound you did not recognize, something between a sigh and a surrender.
His hands settled on your waist. Thumbs pressing just above your hip bones. Anchoring you.
Then he walked you backward.
Step. Kiss. Step. Kiss. His mouth never left yours, not really, just ghosting breath and warmth while his feet guided you both down a hallway you could not see. The carpet gave way to hardwood. A doorframe brushed your shoulder. You were lost in the rhythm of it, the soft insistence of his lips, the solid wall of his chest against yours, the way he steered you without force.
Your calves hit the mattress.
You both tumbled.
The comforter swallowed you both, cool cotton against the back of your neck, and then Jack was above you, his weight settling between your thighs like it belonged there. He pulled back just enough to look at you. Dark eyes. Heavy lidded. His breath came warm across your cheekbones.
"Don't want to push you," he murmured, and his voice was gravel wrapped in velvet. The kind of sound that lives in your spine. His gaze moved across your face, brow, eyes, nose, lips, like he was memorizing the terrain.
Your throat tightened. Not from nerves. From the sheer attention of it.
"I want you, Jack."
The words came out steadier than you felt.
His smile broke slow. Beautiful. A sunrise happening in real time. Something pulled at the corner of your own mouth in answer, and he traced the shape of it with his fingertip, temple to cheekbone to jaw.
"Just tell me to stop and I will, okay?"
His thumb pressed gentle against the hinge of your jaw. You leaned into it without thinking.
"Okay."
You wrapped your hands around his neck. The skin there was fever warm, the short hair at his nape soft against your knuckles. You pulled him down.
This kiss was different.
Deeper. Slower. He took his time now, licking into your mouth with a thoroughness that made your hips shift beneath him. His weight pinned you in place, but it was not restraint, it was presence. The solid fact of him. You could feel the shape of his shoulders under your palms, the shift of muscle when he adjusted his angle.
He broke the kiss and sat back on his heels.
"Let me see you."
Not a question. Not a command. Something in between, a request that was already a foregone conclusion. His fingers found the hem of your scrub top, and he paused there, eyes flicking up to meet yours.
You nodded.
He peeled the fabric upward. Slow. Deliberate in the way you would unwrap something fragile. The air hit your chest, and your nipples tightened, and Jack made a sound low in his throat, not quite a groan, not quite a word. Just acknowledgment. Reverence, almost.
"You're beautiful," he said. Simple. Plain. Like stating a fact of physics.
His palm flattened against your sternum. Not grabbing. Just feeling. The heat of his hand spread outward in ripples, and your breath shallowed as he dragged it down, over your stomach, your navel, stopping at the waistband of your scrub pants.
"These too?"
You lifted your hips.
He tugged them down, taking your boxer briefs with them, and your dick sprang free, fully hard and leaking a bead of pre come against your lower stomach. The vulnerability should have felt sharp. Instead, it felt like being seen. Truly seen. Jack's gaze traveled down, his eyes darkening as he took in the sight of you bare beneath him, his own heavy ridge straining visibly against the front of his pants.
"You have no idea," he said softly, his fingers gently brushing the side of your hip as he looked at your cock, "how long I've thought about this."
"Tell me."
Your voice surprised you. Lower than usual. Need threading through each syllable.
Jack leaned down, his mouth hovering just above your collarbone. Breath hot. Lips not quite touching.
"Thought about the way you'd taste," he murmured against your skin. "The sounds you'd make. Whether you'd be quiet or loud." His tongue traced a single line from your clavicle to the hollow of your throat. "I hoped for loud."
A sound escaped you. Not a moan, something rawer. Unpracticed.
He shifted lower. His mouth found your nipple, and the wet heat of it made your back arch off the mattress. He did not suck, not yet. Just circled with his tongue, slow and patient, while his hand reached down to push off his own pants, letting his thick, fully hard dick rest against your thigh.
"Open your legs for me," he murmured.
You opened your legs and rested them over Jack's shoulders, letting your body open up to him completely.
Jack sat up slightly, reaching for the nightstand drawer to pull out a bottle of lube. He poured a generous amount onto his fingers, the cool gel slicking his hands as he looked back down at you.
"Look at you," he breathed, his eyes locked on yours. "So ready."
He gently brought his slicked hand down, coating your entrance before pressing one finger inside. Then two. Slow. Painstakingly careful. The stretch made your eyes flutter shut, your hands fisting in the sheets as he worked you open, his thumb lightly caressing your cock in a steady, slow rhythm. He moved his fingers with a patience that bordered on cruelty, in and out, curling just enough to hit your prostate, making your hips chase him and your breath hitch wildly.
"Jack." His name came out broken.
"I know." His thumb stroked over the head of your dick. A sweet, agonizing tease. "But I want to take my time with you. Want to prepare you right."
He slowly withdrew his fingers, and you whined at the loss. But he was already reaching for the foil packet on the nightstand. The foil tore. You watched him roll the condom down over his length, and the sight of him, hard, flushed, ready to top you, made your chest throb with need.
He positioned himself between your thighs, guiding the blunt head of his cock against your entrance. Not pushing yet. Just resting there, slick and warm against you. A question.
"Tell me again," he said. His voice had dropped. Husky now. The careful control cracking at the edges. "Tell me you want this."
"I want you." The words tumbled out without thought. "Jack, please."
"Good boy."
He slowly pushed inside.
The first inch stole your breath. The second made you groan as he stretched you open, filling you completely. By the time he was fully seated inside you, your legs were draped high over his shoulders, your nails digging into the sheets, and you could not have formed words if your life depended on it.
"Okay?" he asked. Still. So still inside you. Trembling with the effort of restraint.
You gave him a quick, desperate nod. "Please, Jack."
He moved.
Long, deep, slow strokes that bottomed out inside you, the drag of him against your prostate making your vision blur. He kept his rhythm unhurried, even when you started meeting his thrusts with your own. Even when your moans pitched higher. Even when your hard cock leaked between your torsos, smearing pre come across both of your skin.
"Feel that?" His lips brushed your ear, his hands gripping your hips tight. "Feel how well you take me?"
You could not answer. Could only hold on.
Jack leaned down and kissed you gently as he was moving inside of you, his mouth soft and full of care against yours even as his hips kept up that steady, deep rhythm.
"So good, baby," he said softly, breaking the kiss just enough to look down at you, his dark eyes dark with absolute devotion.
You blushed under the heat of his stare, the warmth spreading straight up to your cheeks. Before you could even hide your face, his stroke hit your spot just right, and a soft, desperate moan escaped your lips.
Jack's breath hitched at the sound. His smirk returned, low and satisfied, his thumb sweeping across your flushed cheek as he adjusted his angle to hit that exact same spot again.
"There he is," Jack murmured against your neck, his pace picking up just a fraction, every slow, deliberate push sending another wave of heat straight through you. "Let me hear you."
Jack didn't give you a chance to think. He drove into you again, harder this time, locking right onto that exact spot until another undone moan spilled past your lips.
"Faster, Jack," you begged, your voice thick with need. "Please, go faster."
Jack let out a low, dark growl, nodding as he took you up on the offer. He pinned your hands above your head, his long fingers lacing tight through yours against the mattress. The sweet, deliberate patience from before dissolved into pure, raw heat. Every thrust became faster, deeper, and demanding, the heavy slap of skin against skin filling the quiet bedroom alongside the ragged sound of your shared breathing.
Jack watched your face through heavy lidded eyes, taking in every twitch of your jaw, every desperate arch of your back. He let go of one of your hands, reaching down between your slick torsos to wrap his fingers around your hard cock.
The dual sensation hit you like a physical force.
"Jack," you gasped, your toes curling as your hips tried to chase his hand.
"I've got you," Jack growled softly near your ear, his voice rough and completely stripped of control. He stroked your dick in rhythm with his heavy, fast thrusts, his thumb rubbing over the sensitive tip right as he bottomed out inside you. "Look at me."
You forced your eyes open, your vision swimming with intense pleasure. Jack was staring down at you, sweat glistening on his shoulders, his jaw tight with the effort of holding back just long enough to take you with him.
"You're taking all of me so perfectly," he whispered, his grip on your waist tightening as his pace turned relentless, pounding into you with a wild, desperate rhythm that had you gasping his name like a prayer.
The pressure in your lower stomach coiled tight, stretching so thin it was about to snap. You squeezed tight around him, your heels digging into his back as your body began to tremble on the precipice.
"Jack, I'm... I'm close," you sobbed out, your voice completely wrecked.
Jack let out a low, guttural groan, his head falling into the crook of your neck as he buried himself as deep as he could go. "Come for me, baby. Let it go."
That was all it took. The coil snapped. You came hard, white hot pleasure crashing over you as your cock spurted across your chest and stomach, your inner walls contracting tight around Jack in sweet, frantic spasms.
The feeling of you spilling over and gripping him so tight pushed Jack over the edge. With a final, deep surge, he let out a harsh breath against your collarbone and poured himself into the condom, his entire body shuddering violently as he rode out his own intense climax inside of you.
For a long moment, neither of you moved. Jack collapsed heavily against your chest, his heart hammering wildly against yours, both of you completely drenched in sweat and trying to catch your breath in the quiet room.
You petted his hair gently, feeling the wet strands soaked with sweat between your fingers. Jack rested his heavy jaw against your chest, his dark eyes looking right up at you while you looked down at him.
A soft, lazy smile spread across your face. "We missed so much time... and good sex," you said, your voice still a little breathless.
Jack laughed a little, the vibration of his chest warm against yours. "Yeah. Well, it was worth the wait," he said back, his thumb idly tracing small circles over your hip.
You nodded softly, leaning up just enough to press a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Definitely."
Jack shifted his weight, rolling onto his side next to you while keeping one heavy arm slung across your waist. He pulled the cool comforter over both of your bare, sweaty bodies, tucking you in close to his side. You rested your head against his shoulder, listening to the steady, slowing thrum of his heartbeat, the exhaustion of the shift finally catching up as you both drifted off into a deep, quiet sleep.

The lukewarm coffee in your paper cup tasted like battery acid and pure exhaustion, but at this point, it was the only thing keeping your eyes open. You stared blankly down into the dark liquid, watching the faint reflection of the harsh fluorescent lights overhead warp every time your hands gave a tired shudder.
“Fuck my life,” you muttered under your breath, gripping the paper cup a little tighter as a wave of fatigue washed over your muscles.
This was your third coffee since your actual day shift was supposed to have ended, and your feet felt like heavy blocks of lead against the hard hospital floor. The entire emergency department was in absolute shambles, the air thick with tension and the lingering panic of the afternoon raid.
Before you could take another bitter sip, the air directly behind you shifted. You felt a strong, grounding presence settle just inches away, radiating a familiar warmth that instantly made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. It was a physical weight you had grown incredibly attuned to over the last few months, a presence that always seemed to pull your focus no matter how chaotic the floor got.
Slowly, you looked over your shoulder to see who it was. Robby was standing right there, his broad frame casting a protective shadow over yours. He had his jacket zipped up, and a soft, half smirk played on his lips as he looked down at you.
“When does your shift end?” Robby asked, his voice unusually gentle and quiet against the background noise of distant monitors and rushing staff.
You sighed heavily, turning around fully so you were completely face to face with him, letting your shoulders slump.
“My shift ended an hour ago,” you said, your voice thick and husky with a bone deep tiredness that no amount of caffeine could ever hope to fix.
Robby’s smirk vanished instantly, replaced by a deep furrow in his brow and a sudden tension in his jaw. “And why are you still here?” he asked, genuine concern bleeding into his tone as his eyes scanned your exhausted face.
The question ignited a spark of raw, frustrated adrenaline in your chest.
“Because fucking ICE took Jesse,” you said, your voice dropping to a harsh, angry whisper. You were careful not to direct the venom at Robby, and he knew that, but the sheer fury of the situation was bubbling over. “And half the other nurses cleared out because they did not want to risk getting arrested too. We do not have enough hands on deck. I could not just walk out and leave the remaining staff drowning on the floor, so I stayed.”
Robby’s expression darkened significantly, a flash of shared frustration crossing his face. The raid had shaken everyone in the hospital to the core, and the devastating fallout was leaving the remaining skeletal crew completely overwhelmed.
“I know,” Robby said, his tone softening as he reached out. His large hand came to rest briefly and warmly against your shoulder, squeezing gently.
The sudden heat of his palm through your scrubs sent a quiet, electric thrill straight through your exhaustion, momentarily making you forget how badly your feet ached.
“I promise I will make sure this does not last for long,” Robby added, his eyes holding yours with an intensity that made your heart skip a beat.
You managed a weak, grateful nod, wishing he wouldn't take his hand away just yet. “Have a good night, Robby. See you tomorrow,” you said softly.
Robby smiled a little, his hand lingering for just a fraction of a second longer before he finally pulled it back, leaving a cold spot where his warmth had just been. “I will tell Abbott to go gently on you, okay?” he murmured.
“Did I hear my name?”
Right on cue, Jack Abbott appeared from around the corner, stepping up right behind his husband. You and Robby both looked over at him as he joined the small circle. Even after a brutal, nonstop day running the department, Jack looked effortlessly composed, though the sharp intelligence in his eyes took in your slumped shoulders and pale face instantly.
Robby turned his head slightly toward Jack, gesturing toward you. “Go gently on them. Do not go hard on your staff today. They have had a lot to deal with.”
Jack’s gaze shifted immediately from Robby straight to you. A slow, knowing smirk traced his lips, and he gave you a deliberate, devastating wink that sent a sudden jolt of heat straight to your stomach.
“Don’t worry,” Jack said, his voice dropping an octave as his eyes locked onto yours. “I will keep a very close eye on them.”
Robby’s smirk returned, a silent, shared understanding passing between the two married men. It was a private, intimate dynamic that you had been observing more and more lately, and seeing them both focus that energy onto you made your stomach do a strange, fluttery flip despite your immense fatigue.
Robby reached out, playfully swatting Jack’s back as a goodbye gesture. He adjusted the heavy backpack slung over his shoulder, where his motorcycle helmet was securely strapped to the side. With one final, lingering look in your direction, Robby turned and headed down the corridor toward the exit.
Jack watched him go for a brief second before turning his full, undivided attention back to you. He leaned his hip casually against the edge of the nurses station, crossing his arms over his chest.
“So, a double shift?” Jack asked, his voice low, smooth, and entirely too captivating for this time of night.
You nodded, taking another small, miserable sip of your lukewarm coffee just to give your hands something to do. “Yeah.”
“Because of Jesse and the other nurses?”
“Yeah,” you sighed, leaning your lower back against the counter for support, suddenly hyper aware of just how close Jack was standing to you. “They got scared that they will get arrested too. Honestly, I can’t blame them.”
Jack nodded, his sharp expression softening into genuine, profound understanding as he looked at you. “No, you can’t blame them. It is an absolute mess down here.”
He stepped a fraction of an inch closer, closing the distance between you just enough that you could smell the faint scent of his cologne over the sterile hospital air. His eyes scanned your tired face with a warmth that felt entirely too intimate for a public hallway.
“But you stayed,” Jack murmured, his voice laced with a quiet admiration that made your pulse quicken.
You nodded, a sudden spark of playful energy cutting through your heavy exhaustion. A slow smirk tugged at the corner of your lips as you held his gaze.
“Didn’t want you to believe I don’t like you,” you said, your tone deliberately light and teasing.
Jack smiled, a brilliant, knowing expression that reached his eyes. “Oh, you love me, I know,” he said smoothly. He reached out and gave your shoulder a playful nudge with his hand, flashing you another quick, devastating wink that made your face feel suddenly warm.
Before you could fire back a retort, Jack stepped back and clapped his hands together loudly, the sharp sound echoing through the bustling nurses' station. His entire demeanor shifted from intimate and playful to the authoritative, commanding leader the department desperately needed right now.
“Okay people,” Jack called out, his voice raising loud and clear so every doctor, nurse, and orderly on the floor could hear him over the constant hum of activity. “I know today is a hard day and night, and a lot of you had to do a double. But we have to give the best we can. So, everyone, let's get to work.”
The response was almost instantaneous from the weary crew. Right on cue, the night shift doctors, including Ellie Shen, looked up from their charts and call lights.
“Hooah!” Ellie and a few of the other nurses shouted in unison, trying to pump some energy back into the room.
Abbott screamed it right back to them, a wide grin breaking across his face as he rallied the troops.
A small laugh escaped your lips at the sheer display, the heavy weight in your chest lifting just a little bit. Shaking your head with a smile, you tossed your empty coffee cup into the nearest bin, adjusted your scrubs, and started going back to work, feeling a little more ready to face the long night ahead with Jack keeping a close eye on you.
The rest of the shift actually went great. The sheer momentum of the busy emergency department took over, and you completely forgot how tired you were. The constant influx of patients, the quick huddles with Ellie Shen, and the steady rhythm of the floor became a blur, and that adrenaline was the only reason your feet did not stop moving. You pushed through hour after hour, completely running on fumes.
But the moment the chaos finally started to wind down and the morning light began to peek through the windows, the adrenaline evaporated.
A sudden wave of exhaustion hit you like a physical wall. By the end of it all, you felt a little dizzy, the room tilting slightly on its axis. Your knees buckled just enough that you slowly fell onto the side of the nurses station, gripping the edge of the counter to keep your balance.
Out of nowhere, a voice came and said, “Hey, you alright?”
It was Jack. You quickly looked up at him, trying to pull yourself together, and answered, “Yeah, yeah. Just tired, that’s all.”
Jack stepped closer, his jaw tight as he looked you up and down. This time, it wasn't in his usual flirty, playful way. It was in a strict, observant doctor way.
“You look pale, honey,” he said.
Honey. He called you honey.
You stood there frozen, completely losing your train of thought. You genuinely did not know if you felt dizzy because you were tired and hungry, or if your brain was short-circuiting because of the casual, warm nickname that had just come out of his mouth.
“Uh… I, uh,” you stammered, unable to form a coherent thought.
Before you could even finish your sentence, his eyes narrowed slightly. “Have you eaten anything?”
You thought, fuck. How did he know? You tried to quickly construct a lie to protect your pride, but looking into his sharp eyes, you just couldn't do it.
“No. Just a granola bar at the shift switch,” you said, your voice dropping incredibly low as you looked down at your hands.
Then you forced yourself to meet his gaze again, and the expression on his face made your stomach drop. It wasn't his usual funny, smirking stuff. He looked genuinely angry and deeply worried.
“A granola bar?” Jack repeated, his tone laced with disbelief. “That’s what you ate all day? That’s why you almost fell just now.”
Before you could even start talking or making excuses for yourself, he raised a hand to cut you off.
“Go change and meet me in the parking lot. I am driving you home,” Jack said, his voice leaving absolutely no room for argument.
You panicked a little, not wanting to be a burden after he had just worked a brutal shift himself. “No, no, you don’t have to. My home is not that far. It’s okay.”
Jack stared at you, a small, knowing glint finally returning to his eyes, though his expression remained firm. “No, no, you didn’t get it. I am driving you home. Not your home.”
Your jaw practically dropped as the meaning of his words sank in. “Jack, no. You don’t have to do that.”
But before you could continue protesting, he stepped in even closer, completely shutting down the argument.
“Don’t start. You are coming home with me,” Jack said, a soft but unyielding authority in his voice. “I am making breakfast for me, you, and Robby, and you will sleep in the guest room, okay? And I am not asking you. Now, go change.”
You blushed fiercely right then, the heat rushing all the way up to your ears, and Jack absolutely saw it. But to your immense relief, he did not tease you or say a single word about the sudden crimson on your cheeks. Instead, he just gave you a reassuring, final nod, watching you closely until you finally turned around to head toward the locker room.
You went and changed out of your sweat-stained scrubs, washing the sterile hospital grime off your face before pulling on a fresh pair of casual clothes. Even the simple act of tying your shoes felt like a monumental effort, but the thought of Jack waiting for you kept you moving.
Once you were ready, you walked out into the crisp morning air and headed down to the parking lot where Jack told you to meet him.
He was already there, leaning against his vehicle. He had changed out of his work attire into his casual clothes, a simple jacket and jeans that honestly looked entirely too good on him for someone who had just survived a chaotic double shift. He was scanning the exit doors, and the moment his eyes landed on you, the tense line of his shoulders visibly relaxed.
“And I was about to come see if you fell anywhere,” Jack said as you approached, a soft, teasing tone returning to his voice.
You smiled a little at that, the warmth from his concern melting away some of your lingering nervousness. He smiled right back, his eyes crinkling at the corners in a way that made your heart do a quiet, familiar flutter.
Then he reached over, unlocking the passenger side. “Come on, let’s go,” he said gently.
You followed him to his Jeep, climbing inside the spacious, comfortable cabin. The interior smelled faintly of him, leather, cedar, and a hint of cold morning air. Jack hopped into the driver's seat, started up the powerful engine, and immediately turned the heater up to take the morning chill out of the air.
With a smooth shift of the gear, he backed out of the space and started driving out of the hospital lot, heading down the quiet morning streets toward the house he and Robby shared.
The silence inside the warm cabin of the Jeep was comfortable, but the reality of where you were going was still spinning in your head. You looked over at his profile as he navigated the quiet morning streets, feeling a sudden wave of self-consciousness about invading their private space.
“Jack, you really don’t have to go to all that trouble,” you said softly, breaking the quiet. “I’m not even that hungry.”
But before he could even start talking, your body completely betrayed you. Your stomach growled, a deep, loud, predatory rumble that echoed incredibly clearly in the confined space of the vehicle.
You froze, staring straight out the windshield as your face burned hotter than it had all night.
Jack didn’t miss a beat. A low chuckle vibrated in his chest, and he didn't even look away from the road as a massive smirk spread across his face.
“Tell that to your stomach, darling,” Jack said, his tone dripping with playful amusement.
Darling.
Another nickname. First honey, now darling. You leaned your head back against the headrest, genuinely wondering if the sudden dizziness washing over you was from the lack of glucose in your system or from the casual, devastating way he threw those words around. Your heart was hammering against your ribs, a chaotic contrast to how exhausted the rest of your body felt. Jack didn't push it any further, simply reaching over to turn up the radio to a low, soothing volume, letting you process your blush in peace.
After about ten minutes of driving through the peaceful neighborhood, the Jeep slowed down and turned into a driveway. You arrived at a beautiful, cozy house that perfectly blended Robby’s rugged style and Jack’s polished tastes. The windows were dark, but you could see the faint glow of a porch light welcoming you in.
You both went inside, the quiet of the early morning wrapping around us like a blanket. Jack slowly took off his shoes, setting them neatly by the door, and you carefully took yours off too, feeling a little self conscious about how heavy your movements felt in the silent house.
Jack turned to you, pressing a finger to his lips with a warm smile. He told you to be quiet because Robby wasn’t awake yet.
“Sit on the couch, I will start making breakfast,” Jack whispered, gesturing toward the living room.
You nodded gratefully, stepping into the space. You went and sat slowly on the brown leather couch, sinking into the cushions. It was much comfier than it looked, practically swallowing you up, and your aching muscles instantly began to relax.
Just as Jack was heading toward the kitchen, you heard a loud voice echo from the hallway.
“Jack? Is that you?”
A moment later, you saw Robby slowly walking out of the bedroom. He was just in his black boxers and an old, faded yellow T-shirt that hugged his broad shoulders. His hair was completely messed up from sleep, sticking up in every direction, and he was lazily scratching his eyes as he blinked against the morning light.
You blushed fiercely at the picture of morning Robby, your heart doing a sudden, violent flip. He looked incredibly attractive, completely soft and unguarded in a way you had never seen at the hospital.
Jack let out a soft chuckle at the sight, leaning his hip against the kitchen counter. “Robby, baby, go put some pants on. We are not alone.”
Robby froze. He stopped scratching his eye, his head snapping over toward the living room. The moment his gaze landed on you sitting on their couch, his face got so red, the deep crimson spreading rapidly across his cheeks and all the way to his ears.
“Oh, sorry! I didn’t see you, I…” Robby stammered, completely flustered as he tried to cover himself slightly with his hands.
Seeing him so embarrassed made you react without thinking, and you cut him off with a soft, reassuring tone. “Don’t worry, Robby. I don’t mind.”
The moment the words left your mouth, you blushed even harder, your face burning. You desperately wished you could swallow the words back down because you absolutely had not meant to say that out loud.
Jack broke out into a proper laugh, highly amused by the entire exchange. “Oh, I am sure you don’t,” he said smoothly, looking your way as he winked at you again.
Robby let out a embarrassed groan, practically turning on his heel. He rushed back into the bedroom, the door clicking shut behind him.
He came out just a few seconds later, having quickly pulled on a pair of comfortable grey sweatpants, though his cheeks were still a little pink as he walked back into the room.
“Sorry for earlier,” Robby said softly as he came over and sat right beside you on the couch. The cushion sank under his weight, shifting you just a fraction of an inch closer to him, and you could feel the residual warmth of his shower radiating off his skin.
“Don’t worry, Robby, really. It’s your house after all,” you said, trying to project a casual confidence you didn't actually feel right now.
Robby nodded, his eyes scanning your tired face with deep concern. “How was work?” he asked, his voice low and comforting.
“Mm, exhausting to be honest. But we managed,” you said, looking over at Jack in the kitchen for a brief second before turning your gaze back to Robby.
“I knew you would, sweetheart,” Robby murmured, his expression incredibly soft.
Sweetheart?
Another nickname, but this time from Robby. Your brain completely short-circuited. What is happening? Was all you managed to think in that exact moment. First Jack with honey and darling, and now Robby calling you sweetheart so naturally, right here in their living room. You felt like you were trapped in a beautiful, dizzying dream, your heart hammering against your ribs.
Before you could even begin to process the butterflies fluttering wildly in your stomach, Jack’s voice called out from the kitchen, breaking the silence.
“Hey, you two love birds, come here. Breakfast is ready,” Jack said, a distinct note of amusement in his tone.
As the two of you got up from the couch to walk over, Jack called out again, his back partially turned as he plated the food. “Hey, darling, how do you drink your coffee?”
You didn’t answer right away. You stood frozen at the edge of the room because why would Jack call you darling right in front of his husband? You nervously waited for Robby to get upset, or for Jack to realize his mistake. But when you stepped fully into the kitchen and looked at Robby, and then at Jack, you realized no one was upset at all. In fact, they were both looking straight at you with matching, knowing smirks.
“What?” you asked, your voice dropping incredibly low, your eyes darting between the two of them.
Jack turned around completely, leaning against the counter as he held up a fresh mug. He let his smirk widen just a fraction. “How do you drink your coffee, sweetheart?”
You looked at Robby, expecting him to say something, but Robby just crossed his arms, his smirk turning soft and entirely too affectionate as he watched you fluster. Neither of them was backing down. They were both actively doing this, directing all of that intense, combined affection straight at you.
Your entire face flushed a deep, undeniable crimson. You looked down at the floor, completely overwhelmed by the heat rushing through your veins.
“B…black,” you whispered, your voice small and shaky.
Desperate to hide your burning face, you quickly sat down in the nearest chair at the kitchen table, your hands trembling slightly as the two men continued to look at you like you were exactly where you belonged.
As you all sat down and ate, the atmosphere softened into a quiet, comfortable routine. Between bites of the heavy breakfast Jack had whipped up, the conversation naturally drifted back to the hospital. We talked a little about the incident with ICE, discussing the terrifying tension left on the floor and wondering out loud if anyone had heard any news about Jesse. Both Jack and Robby looked grim at the mention of it, the reality of the situation hanging heavy over the medical community, but having the two of them sitting on either side of you made the world feel a little safer.
Then, after we had eaten and the plates were cleared, Robby got up from his chair and stretched.
“I need to go get dressed and go to the hospital,” Robby said, running a hand through his messy hair before looking between you and his husband. “You too are off today, aren’t you?”
Hearing that, you automatically went to answer and say that you also had to work your regular shift later, your dedicated nurse brain kicking in despite your exhaustion.
But before a single word could leave your mouth, Jack cut in smoothly. “Yeah, I gave us both a day off.”
Your head snapped around, and you turned to look at him in absolute shock. “What? Why?” you asked, your voice rising just a little.
Jack did not even turn around to look at you. He just stood at the sink, casually doing the dishes as if he hadn't just altered the hospital schedule on a whim. “Because you had a double and you almost fainted,” he said, his tone flat, even, and completely unyielding.
Robby stopped dead in his tracks on his way to the hallway. His eyes widened, and his gaze locked onto you instantly. “You almost what?”
You bit your lip and didn't answer him, looking down at your hands as your face flushed. You felt a little exposed under Robby’s sudden, intense scrutiny.
Trying to salvage your pride, you looked back at Jack's broad shoulders. “I can work. They need help down there.”
Jack turned the tap off, finally turning around to face you. He leaned back against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest. “No, they don’t. I called to make sure they had enough hands on deck before giving you a day off. The morning shift is fully covered.”
You didn’t answer. You knew when you were completely outmatched.
Slowly, you looked over at Robby, hoping he might take your side, but he didn't say anything to defend your work ethic either. Instead, Robby’s worried expression softened into a look of profound relief. He just nodded firmly, silently agreeing with his husband’s executive decision, before giving you one last lingering look and heading down the corridor to their room to change.
You were upset that Jack had just gone ahead and done that without talking to you about it first. It felt like your autonomy was completely stripped away, even if it was out of concern.
When Robby came back out of his room, now dressed in his casual clothes with his backpack slung over his shoulder and his helmet securely strapped to the side, you saw your chance.
“Hey, Robby, can you drive me home?” you asked, your voice tight.
Robby stopped, looking at you completely confused, and then his eyes shifted over to Jack. Jack was standing by the kitchen counter, giving his husband a dead-eyed stare that screamed don’t you dare drive him home.
Robby swallowed hard, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “Sorry, sweetheart, I want my life,” he said with a nervous little chuckle. He walked past the couch, squeezing your shoulder gently as a goodbye, and headed straight out the front door.
“Fuck my life,” you whispered fiercely to yourself the moment the front door clicked shut.
You grabbed your jacket from the back of the chair and marched over to the entryway, dropping down to start forcing your shoes back on.
Jack’s footsteps echoed sharply on the hardwood as he walked over. “What are you doing?”
You didn’t look up at him. You kept your eyes locked on your hands, aggressively tying your shoe laces into tight knots. “I am leaving,” you said, your voice shaking with a mix of exhaustion and frustration.
Jack rushed forward, stepping right into your line of sight. “No, you are not.”
You stood up abruptly, forcing yourself to look him dead in the eye, your chest heaving. “Why? Why can’t I? I don’t have to go to work, and I don’t have to be here. So I am leaving,” you said, the frustration finally boiling over.
Jack’s expression softened, and he reached out a hand to placate you. “Come on, sweetheart, don’t…”
Before he could even finish the word, you cut him off, your voice loud and sharp in the quiet house. “Why are you calling me all these nicknames? Especially in front of your husband and my boss? Why?”
The question hung heavy in the air, born from pure, overwhelmed frustration. Jack opened his mouth, starting to say something, but the sheer emotional overload was too much for you. You didn’t want to hear an excuse. You turned on your heel, grabbed the doorknob, and practically threw yourself out into the crisp morning air, slamming the door behind you.
You heard the door open again immediately, and you knew Jack was following you down the driveway. But you didn’t stop walking, your stride furious and purposeful, and to his credit, he didn't push or try to physically grab you. He let you go.
You started the long walk back to your house. For the first few minutes, the anger kept you warm, but the physical reality of a double shift and a lack of food quickly caught up with you. After about five minutes, the adrenaline completely tanked. Your legs gave out, shaking violently, and you barely managed to steer yourself toward a bench in a small, quiet neighborhood park.
You slumped onto the cold wood, your hands trembling as you reached into your backpack and pulled out a cigarette. You struck a lighter, inhaling the sharp smoke just to have something to ground you.
“Jack called me to come pick you up.”
A soft, familiar voice broke the silence of the park. You turned your head quickly, watching through a cloud of smoke as Robby walked up to the bench. He didn’t look angry, he just looked deeply worried as he came around and sat down right beside you.
“You should be at work,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper as you stared blankly ahead, refusing to look directly at Robby. The cigarette smoke curled lazily between you two in the chilly morning air.
“And you should be resting,” Robby said, his tone incredibly soft, completely devoid of any judgment or anger.
A bitter little chuckle escaped your lips. “Yeah, right.”
Robby shifted on the bench, the leather of his jacket creaking quietly as he turned more toward you. “Come on, sweetheart. We both know you are tired.”
The word hit a raw nerve. You snapped, turning your head to look him dead in the eye as you stood up abruptly from the bench, the sudden movement making the park tilt slightly. “Why are you both calling me that, for fuck's sake?” you demanded, your voice cracking under the weight of pure, exhausted frustration.
Robby didn't flinch. Instead, he stood up slowly, keeping his hands low and open in a placating gesture.
“Listen, I am sorry. And Jack is too,” Robby said, stepping a fraction closer, his eyes locked onto yours with absolute sincerity. “He sounded so worried on the phone when you left. I promise we will explain everything. But please, let me take you to your house, and we will explain everything to you when you are awake and rested, okay?”
His voice was so soft, so steady and grounding, that the last of your defensive walls completely crumbled. The anger drained out of you, leaving nothing but an aching emptiness and a desperate need to sleep.
You looked at him for a long moment before you finally nodded.
A look of profound relief washed over Robby's face. He placed his large, warm hand gently against your back, the solid weight of it guiding your unsteady steps as he slowly led you out of the park and over to where his motorcycle was parked by the curb.
Without a word, he unstrapped his helmet and handed it over to you. You took it, slipping the heavy casing over your head and fastening the strap, the visor cutting out the harshness of the morning light. Robby hopped onto the bike, kicking the engine to life with a powerful roar that vibrated straight through your chest. You climbed onto the back, carefully wrapping your arms around his broad waist for balance, and held on tight as he pulled out into the street.
The ride was a blur of cool air and steady speed. In no time at all, the motorcycle idled to a smooth stop right in front of your house. You climbed off, unbuckling the helmet and handing it back to him, your limbs feeling like absolute lead.
As you stood on the pavement, Robby looked up at you from the bike, his expression warm. “Go sleep and rest, and I promise that we will talk after, okay?”
You managed a weak, grateful nod, the exhaustion finally pulling you under. “Thank you, Robby,” you said softly.
You turned, walking up the steps to your front door. Your hands were shaking so badly it took you a few tries, but you finally unlocked the door and pushed it open, stepping into the quiet safety of your own place.
You didn’t even have the energy to change out of your clothes or make it to your bedroom. You walked straight into the living room, let your backpack slide off your shoulders onto the floor, and just fell heavily onto the couch. The moment your head hit the cushion, your eyes closed, and you fell almost immediately into a deep, dreamless sleep.
When you woke up, the room was cast in deep, heavy shadows. For a moment, you just lay there completely still on the couch, totally disoriented as the heavy fog of a multi hour sleep clung to your brain.
You blinked against the darkness and reached out, groggily fumbling around on the floor until your fingers brushed against the smooth glass of your phone. You tapped the screen to check the time and blinked in surprise. The display glowed brightly back at you, showing it was already 19:00 in the afternoon. You had managed to sleep the entire day away.
Right below the time on your lock screen, a string of notifications caught your eye. They were text messages from Jack, sent hours ago while you were completely passed out.
Jack: hey sorry please text me you are okay
Jack: i was an asshole sorry i just need to know you are okay
You stared at the screen, your heart giving a quiet, complicated thump as you read the blunt apology. Sliding the notifications open, you unlocked the phone as you finally forced your stiff, aching muscles to move. You got up from the couch and walked into your dark kitchen to start making a fresh pot of coffee, desperately needing the strong caffeine to wake you up completely.
While the machine began to hiss and drip into the pot, you unlocked your phone again, pulled up the chat window, and texted him back.
You: i am fine
You barely had time to set the phone down on the counter before it vibrated fiercely in your palm. He replied almost immediately, as if he had been sitting there staring at his screen for hours just waiting for your name to pop up.
Jack: i am glad sorry for earlier can we talk Robby goes off work in an hour he can come pick you up and bring you here if that’s okay
You stared down at the glowing words, the steam from your fresh coffee rising into the air in front of your face. The lingering anger from the chaotic morning had completely washed away with the deep sleep, leaving only a strong sense of curiosity and a quiet anticipation about what the two men actually wanted to say to you.
Instead of typing out a long paragraph, you just sent back a thumbs up in reply, letting him know you would be ready when Robby arrived.
You poured yourself a steaming mug of the freshly brewed black coffee, leaning against the kitchen counter as you took a slow sip. The heat felt incredibly grounding, slowly clearing the remaining cobwebs from your head. With your phone in your other hand, you opened up the group chat you shared with Trinity and Dennis, clicking through the notifications to see what you had missed while you were asleep.
You texted back and forth with them for a little while, sharing a few light updates about how insane the hospital had been after the raid and checking in on how they were holding up. It felt good to connect with them, a brief reminder of normal life outside of the intense bubble you had found yourself in with Jack and Robby.
Once the group chat quieted down, you set your empty coffee mug in the sink. You still felt completely gross and sticky, the lingering grime of the brutal double shift and the hours of sweaty sleep making your skin crawl. You went into the bathroom and had a long, hot shower, letting the steaming water wash away the physical tension and the stress of the previous twenty four hours.
When you finally came out, you felt like a brand new person. You got dressed in a fresh, comfortable outfit, feeling much more human than you had all day. Just as you were finishing up, your phone started ringing loudly from the kitchen counter.
You walked over and picked it up, seeing Robby's name flashing on the screen.
“Hey, Robby,” you said, answering the call and pressing the phone to your ear.
“Hey, I am outside,” Robby said, his voice deep and smooth over the line, accompanied by the faint, low rumble of his motorcycle idling in the background.
“Oh, I am coming,” you said.
You quickly hung up the phone and slid it into your pocket. Moving with a lot more energy now that you were rested, you put your shoes on, grabbed your backpack from the floor, and headed out the front door to go meet him.
When you got out of your house, you saw Robby waiting by his motorcycle. He looked tired from his own long shift, but there was also a brightness in his eyes when he spotted you walking down the steps.
“Hey,” you said softly as you approached him.
“Hey. Did you sleep?” he asked, his voice incredibly soft and full of genuine concern.
“Yeah, didn’t even change clothes. I just fell on the couch and woke up a little while ago,” you admitted, offering a sheepish shrug.
Robby chuckled at that, the sound low and warm. “You remind me of Jack,” he said with a fond smile, and you couldn't help but smile a little too at the comparison.
As he unstrapped his helmet and handed it over to you, the underlying anxiety about the whole situation started to creep back in. You hesitated for a second, holding the heavy helmet in your hands.
“What should I expect?” you asked Robby, looking up at him.
He looked at you, momentarily confused as he paused with his hands on the handlebars. “What do you mean?”
You looked straight at him and answered, “You and Jack want to talk, but I don't know what you two want to talk about with me. Is it bad?”
Robby’s expression softened completely, any trace of his own exhaustion fading as he looked at you. He waited patiently as you put his helmet on your head, making sure you were secure. “No, no. Nothing bad, I promise,” he said, his voice entirely reassuring.
You nodded, feeling a massive weight lift off your chest at his words. You climbed onto the back of the bike, wrapping your arms around his waist again, and the two of you started driving back to their house through the cool evening air.
When you arrived there and walked inside, the tense energy from the morning was completely gone. The moment the front door opened, Jack rushed over from the kitchen. He immediately hugged Robby, holding him tight for a brief second before pulling back to look directly at you.
“I am really sorry,” Jack said, his usual confident demeanor replaced by absolute sincerity as he looked down, genuinely remorseful for how he had handled things earlier.
“Don’t be,” you answered, your voice low and gentle, letting him know without a doubt that you weren't holding a grudge anymore.
Robby smiled at the two of you, breaking the quiet as he unzipped his jacket. “I am going to have a quick shower. When I come out, we are gonna talk, okay?”
You nodded, watching as Robby headed down the hallway toward the bathroom, leaving you and Jack alone in the living room.
“Want something to drink?” Jack asked you, turning his head back as he walked toward the kitchen.
“Yeah, a glass of water should be fine,” you said, stepping out of the entryway and following him into the brightly lit room.
The quiet hum of the refrigerator filled the space, and you swallowed the lingering nervousness in your throat, needing to get this off your chest. “Sorry for running out like that,” you said softly.
Jack stopped what he was doing and quickly shook his head, turning around fully to face you. “No, no, don't say sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn't have done anything without asking you first.”
You stood there, holding his intense gaze, and you didn't quite know what to say to that. He was taking complete accountability, his usual stubbornness entirely absent.
“Still, I acted like a child,” you managed to say, offering a small, self deprecating shrug.
Jack walked over and handed you the glass of cool water, his fingers brushing against yours for a brief, electric second. “Did you get any sleep?” Jack asked you, clearly wanting to change the subject away from the argument now that the air was clear.
“Yeah, a lot,” you said with a genuine smile, taking a grateful sip of the water.
Jack smiled too, a warm, relaxed expression breaking across his handsome face as he watched you relax.
After a while, as you and Jack were talking, Robby walked into the kitchen. He had changed into a pair of fresh, clean clothes, and both his hair and his beard were still looking a little wet from the shower, catching the bright light of the kitchen.
“Did you two make up?” Robby asked, a heavy teasing tone in his voice as he leaned his shoulder against the doorframe, a playful grin on his face.
The exact same reaction hit both you and Jack at the exact same time. You both turned your heads simultaneously and looked right at him with a completely flat, unblinking dead stare, the absolute silence in the kitchen stretching out for a long second.
Robby’s facial expression changed so incredibly fast, the cocky smirk vanishing off his lips instantly as he held up his hands in surrender.
“Sorry, sorry,” he said quickly, his voice dropping as he realized his joke had completely bombed.
He moved away from the doorframe and came fully into the kitchen, rubbing the back of his neck as he joined the two of you at the counter, the playful mood shifting into something much more grounded and serious.
Robby walked over to the refrigerator, the magnetic seal breaking with a soft click as he opened the door and pulled out three cold beers. He popped the caps off in quick succession, sliding one across the smooth counter to you and the next one to Jack, before finally taking a long, slow sip of his own.
You wrapped your fingers around the cold glass, the condensation chilling your palm. You took a small sip, letting the crisp liquid cut through the remaining dryness in your throat before setting the bottle down.
“So, what did you two want to talk about?” you asked, your voice dropping to a low, quiet murmur that seemed to echo in the stillness of the kitchen.
The playful atmosphere from a moment ago vanished completely. Robby and Jack exchanged a long, heavy look, a silent communication passing between the married couple before they both turned their undivided attention back to you.
Jack cleared his throat, leaning his forearms against the counter as he locked his eyes onto yours. “You asked earlier why we call you those names. Why we are so touchy with you, why we care so much about whether you are eating, or resting, or burning yourself out on the floor.”
You stayed completely still, your heart beginning to thump a frantic rhythm against your ribs as you waited for him to finish.
“We just,” Jack started, his voice wavering slightly before he let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand over his face. “Fuck, why is this so hard?”
Robby stepped in closer, placing his large, solid hand firmly on Jack’s shoulder, a grounding gesture that seemed to instantly steady his husband. Robby took over, his deep voice incredibly gentle as he looked down at you.
“What Jack is trying to say is that from the very first day you started working with us at the hospital, you had this presence. This incredible dedication and warmth that just drew both of us in. Before we even realized it, we both started falling for you.”
Your breath hitched in your throat, your fingers tightening around your beer bottle.
“We weren't sure if you felt the same way, or if you would even be comfortable with us,” Robby continued, his eyes full of an intense, raw honesty that made your chest ache. “So we wanted to take it slow. We didn't want to scare you away or cross any professional boundaries. But seeing you open up to us over the last few months, seeing how well you fit into our lives, we decided it was finally time to tell you the truth.”
Jack picked up where Robby left off, his voice dropping to a softer, more vulnerable register than you were used to hearing from him. “That’s why the nicknames and all of that started. We wanted to make sure you were getting the hints, hoping it would make this exact conversation a little easier for you when the time came.”
You stayed completely silent for a long moment. Your gaze flicked between the two of them, your eyes searching their faces, desperately waiting for one of them to crack a smile, to start laughing, or to tell you that this was all just some elaborate morning joke. But their expressions remained entirely steady, filled with nothing but raw anticipation and hope. They were completely serious.
“Wait, you two are serious?” you asked, your voice barely a whisper.
The realization hit you like a wave, and a sudden, hysterical bubble of laughter escaped your throat. You set your beer down before your shaking hands could spill it.
“So I am not crazy,” you said, looking from Jack to Robby, the relief and shock spilling out all at once. “Fuck, for so long I felt so incredibly bad that I had feelings for both of you. Because you two are married, and I thought I was going to ruin everything you have. And you are telling me that you both knew?”
Jack offered a soft, incredibly relieved smile, shaking his head. “You are not crazy.”
“And you are definitely not ruining anything,” Robby added smoothly, his hand still resting on Jack’s shoulder, his thumb rubbing comforting circles against his husband's shirt.
The initial shock started to settle, leaving behind a massive, burning question that had been keeping you up at night. You looked at them, your brow furrowing as you tried to understand.
“But why?” you asked, your voice cracking slightly with emotion. “I mean, you have each other. You have this perfect life. Why would you both want to have me in your marriage?”
“Honestly, we don’t know,” Robby said, his voice dropping into a quiet, deeply honest tone as he looked right at you. “I mean, it’s the first time it’s ever happened to us. We never even thought about it or talked about it before you came along.”
Jack nodded in agreement, leaning his hip against the counter as he took over the explanation. “At first, we thought it was just a phase. I mean, you are younger and more beautiful than both of us combined, so we figured we were just captivated. But after months of feeling the exact same way, the feelings didn't go away. They just got stronger.”
Robby reached across the space between you, his fingers gently brushing against your wrist, a warm and grounding touch.
“So we finally sat down and talked about it,” Robby continued, his eyes holding yours with absolute sincerity. “We talked about the idea of wanting a third guy in our relationship. And as we spoke, we came to the exact same conclusion. We don’t want just a third person. We want you. I mean, if you want us too, of course.”
The kitchen fell completely still again, the weight of his words hanging beautifully in the air. They weren't looking for a casual distraction or a temporary addition to their lives. They were looking at you like you were the missing piece they hadn't even known they were searching for.
Your heart hammered against your ribs, a wild mix of absolute disbelief and overwhelming joy surging through you. You looked down at your hands, the warmth of Robby’s fingers still lingering on your wrist.
“I… I mean, yeah, I would love to,” you stammered out, the confession leaving your lips before you could stop it. You looked back up at them, your eyes wide as the reality of the situation fully set in. “But I have never done anything like this before. I have barely had any relationships in my life at all. I don’t know how anything like this works.”
The confession felt incredibly vulnerable, a raw admission of your own inexperience laying open between you and these two established, confident men.
Jack’s expression softened completely, any trace of the intense, brooding boss disappearing. He stepped closer, coming around the counter until he was standing right in front of you.
“Hey, look at me,” Jack said, his voice entirely gentle as he waited for you to meet his eyes. “None of us know how this works. Robby and I have never done this either. We are figuring it out as we go, right along with you.”
Robby moved closer too, stepping up to your other side so that you were completely surrounded by their warmth. He reached out, his large hand gently cupping the side of your face, his thumb wiping away a stray tear you hadn't even realized had escaped.
“You don’t need to know how it works,” Robby murmured, his thumb rubbing a soothing circle against your flushed cheek. “There is no rulebook for this. All you have to do is let us take care of you, and tell us what you need. We are going to take it exactly as slow as you want.”
“Can you… uh, can you both kiss me?”
The moment the words left your mouth, a furious heat rushed to your cheeks, and you blushed deeply. Panicking slightly at your own boldness, you quickly tried to backtrack. “If… if that's not too fast… I…”
Before you could even finish the sentence, Robby leaned down and kissed you right then and there.
The sudden warmth of his lips completely cut off your words. You felt both of his large, steady hands cupping your face, holding you gently as he deepened the kiss. The coarse, soft texture of his beard tickled your skin, sending a shiver straight down your spine as you completely melted into him.
Just as your head began to spin from the sheer intensity of it, a strong, solid arm wrapped firmly around your waist from behind, pulling you securely against a broad chest. Robby broke the kiss with a soft, lingering sigh, his eyes dark and full of affection as he smiled down at you.
Before you could even catch your breath, Jack leaned in from the side. His hand slid up the back of your neck, his fingers tangling into your hair as he claimed your lips with the exact same burning passion. It was a completely different kind of kiss, firm and possessive, yet unbelievably gentle, leaving you utterly breathless as the two of them held you tight between them in the middle of the kitchen.
When Jack broke the kiss, he pulled back just enough to look down at you, that signature smug grin spreading slowly across his face. He watched with absolute satisfaction as the bright pink color crept right back up your neck and flooded your cheeks.
“You know, you look so beautiful when you blush,” Jack murmured, his thumb lightly stroking your burning jawline.
His words only made you blush harder, the intense heat radiating all the way to the tips of your ears. You felt completely overwhelmed, caught between the two of them as Robby kept a warm, steady hand resting on your waist.
Robby looked between you and his husband, his expression softening into something deeply tender. “Do you want to go to the bedroom?” he asked softly, wanting to make sure you felt entirely safe. “We don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to. We can just lie down.”
You shook your head hard and fast, the sheer desperation to be close to them completely overriding your lingering nerves. “No, no, I want to. I… I really do,” you said, your voice breathless but entirely sure.
A shared, genuine smile broke across both of their faces at your confession, the earlier smugness melting away into pure affection. Robby reached down and slid his fingers through yours, wrapping his hand securely around yours, while Jack took your other hand. Together, holding you tightly between them, they started leading you out of the kitchen and down the quiet hallway toward their bedroom.
All three of you walked into the bedroom, the soft light from the hallway casting a warm, gentle glow across the large bed. You climbed in first, settling right into the middle of the mattress, with Robby sliding onto your left and Jack moving to your right.
Before he fully got under the covers, Jack sat on the edge of the bed to take his prosthetic off. He paused for a moment, the heavy metal and carbon fiber resting in his hands, and looked over his shoulder at you. His eyes held a flicker of vulnerability that he rarely let anyone see.
“Are you… okay with this?” Jack asked, his voice quiet as he waited for your reaction.
You shifted on the mattress and looked at him, really looked at him, letting all the warmth and acceptance you felt show in your eyes. “Jack, of course I am,” you said softly, completely dismissing any doubt he had.
A genuine, relieved smile broke across his face. He placed the prosthetic gently onto the nightstand, climbed completely onto the bed beside you, and immediately leaned over to kiss you again, hard and deep, pulling you flush against his side.
At the same time, Robby shifted closer on your left. He started trailing his large, warm fingers lightly down your chest, his lips finding the sensitive skin of your neck to press soft, lingering kisses there.
“Is that alright? Do you want us to stop?” Robby murmured against your skin between kisses, his breath hot and sending shivers straight down your spine.
Jack broke his kiss just enough to look down at you, his hand sliding up to cup your cheek securely. “Just say the word and we are stopping, sweetheart,” he added, his tone entirely serious about making sure you were comfortable.
You didn’t even hesitate. You didn't want them to stop, not for a single second.
“No, no, please don't stop,” you breathed out, turning your head slightly to look at Robby.
You reached up, your fingers sliding into his short hair and gently scratching at his beard. Robby let out a low, pleased hum at your touch, leaning in to capture your lips in another deep, passionate kiss while Jack’s strong arm wrapped securely around your waist, holding you tight between them.
As the three of you shared a dizzying tangle of breathless, heavy kisses, the lingering hesitation in the room completely melted away. Boldness took over, and you slid your hands down, letting your palms press against the heavy cotton of Jack and Robby’s sweatpants, slowly rubbing over the thick, hard lengths straining beneath the fabric.
A sharp, ragged gasp tore from Robby’s throat at the sudden contact, his hips twitching upward into your touch.
“You are killing us, sweetheart,” Robby groaned against your lips, his breath shaking violently as your hands kept up the deliberate, torturous friction.
Jack let out a dark, low growl against your neck, his fingers completely losing their patience. His large hands gripped the hem of your t-shirt, tugging it up and over your head in one swift motion, leaving your bare skin tingling in the cool air of the bedroom. Wanting them just as close, you reached out, your hands slick with sweat as you grasped the fabric of Jack’s shirt and then Robby's, pulling the cotton up over their broad shoulders and tossing them blindly over the edge of the bed.
The heat radiating off their bare chests was intoxicating. Robby immediately pressed back in, his calloused hands sliding up your bare torso, gripping your waist so tightly his knuckles turned white. He kissed you with a sudden, feral intensity, his tongue tangling with yours while Jack shifted over you, his heavy, muscular frame pinning you into the mattress. Jack’s mouth trailed a path of burning, wet kisses down your throat to the center of your chest, his teeth nipping lightly at your skin until you were arching your back, completely trapped and burning up between them.
A soft, breathy moan escaped your lips as your fingers tangled deep into Jack’s hair, pulling him closer while you kept your mouth locked with Robby’s in a deep, dizzying kiss.
Beneath the heavy covers, Jack’s large hand slid down to the waistband of your pants. He slowly started sliding them down your hips, but true to his word, he paused the movement completely, looking up to meet your eyes in the dim light just to make sure you were still completely comfortable with how fast things were moving.
You gave a small, breathless nod, completely reassuring him.
With your approval, you turned back to kiss Robby again, deeply distracted as you felt your pants and boxers being slid completely off your legs and tossed aside. The cool air of the bedroom hit your bare skin for a split second before your hard dick popped free, throbbing with a desperate need for contact.
“So beautiful,” Jack breathed out, his eyes darkening with absolute appreciation as he stared down at you.
He didn't waste another second. Jack reached down and stripped out of his own sweatpants and boxers, kicking them to the bottom of the bed before crawling back up the mattress. He pressed his heavy, bare chest right against yours, capturing your lips in a messy, passionate kiss that left your head spinning.
On your other side, Robby got completely naked too, shedding his clothes in one fluid motion. He slid back beneath the sheets, his massive, heat radiating frame pressing tightly against your left side, completely surrounding you in their warmth as the three of you came together completely bare on the sheets.
“So good for us,” Robby murmured, his voice a deep, gravelly rumble as he nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck. The coarse texture of his beard scratched against your sensitive skin, a rough, masculine friction that turned you on in ways you didn't even know were possible, sending a hot shiver straight down to your toes.
Jack broke his kiss, his breathing ragged as he looked down at you, his eyes dark with a fierce, protective intensity. “Will you let us take care of you, sweetheart?”
You tried to speak, but your throat was completely dry, the words catching in your chest. You just nodded your head quickly against the pillows.
“Use your words, baby,” Robby coaxed softly, his lips brushing against your jawline, demanding to hear it from you.
You looked up at him, your chest heaving. “Ye… yeah,” you breathed out, the submission in your voice entirely real.
Robby smiled in that incredibly soft, tender way that always managed to completely break you down, stripping away any last bit of your defense. He leaned down and kissed you, gently at first, before the passion took over and the kiss turned hard and demanding. His tongue explored every single inch of your mouth, and you met him stroke for stroke, completely lost in the taste of him.
While you were consumed by Robby, you felt Jack’s hand slide down your torso. His fingers touched your throbbing dick, slowly wrapping his firm palm entirely around your length. A loud, unchecked moan tore from your throat at the sudden, electric contact, your hips jerking instinctively into his hand.
“You like that, sweetheart?” Jack whispered, a low smirk in his voice.
You broke the kiss with Robby just to look over at Jack, nodding your head quickly as he began to stroke you with a slow, agonizingly perfect rhythm. He watched your expression blow out with pleasure before he leaned in closer.
“Turn on your stomach for me, darling,” Jack said, his tone dropping into a commanding, quiet murmur.
Without a second thought, you did exactly what he asked, rolling over onto your belly. The cool sheets felt incredible against your flushed front, but the air didn't hit you for long before you felt Jack’s heavy weight shifting down between your thighs. His large hands settled on your hips, slowly spreading your legs further apart to give himself full access.
Up at the head of the bed, Robby shifted to accommodate you. His hands reached out, cupping your face, his thumb pressing lightly against your wet lips. Needing something to anchor you, you opened your mouth and took his thumb inside, swirling your tongue around it, licking and biting down gently on the pad of his skin.
You heard Robby let out a sharp, ragged hiss at the sensation. “Fuck, baby. What is this beautiful mouth can do?” he groaned, his eyes burning as he looked down at you.
You pulled your mouth away from his thumb, your gaze shifting down his bare torso to where his dick was resting. It was large, thicker and bigger than you had expected, and a sudden, primal wave of desire washed over you. You wanted him.
You reached out, your hand slick as you wrapped your fingers around his length, pulling him gently down toward your face.
“You don’t have to do that, baby,” Robby said softly, his voice full of care, wanting to make sure you weren't forcing yourself.
But the need inside you was too strong. You looked up at him through your eyelashes. “Please, Robby. I really want to.”
His expression softened, a dark, heavy smile breaking across his face as he nodded his approval, shifting his weight forward. You parted your lips and took him inside. At first, your mouth stretched tight, unable to fit the full depth of him, but after a moment, your saliva coated his skin, allowing you to slide him deeper, taking him all the way to the base. You could feel the thick head of his dick pressing right against the back of your throat, the fullness of it incredible, and you absolutely loved it, your hands gripping his thighs as you began to suck him in a steady rhythm.
Just as you settled into the pace, you felt Jack move behind you. He leaned over your lower half, his broad chest pressing against the backs of your thighs as he moved down between your ass cheeks.
Suddenly, the soft, scratchy hairs of his face brushed against the sensitive skin of your entrance. You didn't even have time to gasp before you felt the hot, wet stroke of his tongue painting over your opening, starting to lick you with a firm, deliberate pressure.
A muffled, high pitched moan escaped around Robby’s dick as Jack’s tongue worked over you from behind, the dual sensation of both men owning your body completely overloading your senses.
You continued to suck Robby with that same slow, deliberate movement, completely consumed by the taste of him. His pre cum tasted sweet against your tongue, and the intense heat of him filling your mouth was intoxicating. At the very same time, you could feel the wet, firm pressure of Jack’s tongue working expertly inside of you from behind. The dual sensation was almost too much to bear, sending electric sparks of pure pleasure directly to your core.
After a few more heavy moments, you felt Robby’s thighs begin to tremble slightly against your hands. His breathing hitched completely, and he let out a choked, ragged gasp.
“Baby, I am so close... pull out,” he pleaded, his voice cracking with the strain of trying to hold back.
But you didn’t want to stop. You wanted to taste him completely, to swallow every single drop of his warmth. Locking your eyes directly with his, you gripped his thighs tighter and started moving your mouth just a little bit faster, taking him even deeper.
“Fuck, baby,” Robby growled, his voice incredibly rough and primal. You could feel his entire body shaking from the sheer intensity of the pleasure you were giving him. “I’m cumming, baby, fuck!”
His hips twitched forward automatically as his dick shot a thick, hot load of cum straight into your mouth and down your throat. You hadn't expected to swallow all of it without gagging, but the raw desire driving you made it easy. You swallowed every single drop of his seed, your throat working around him until he was completely clean, all while looking up at him with a breathless, triumphant smile.
“Fuck, baby... so incredible,” Robby panted, his chest heaving as he slowly and gently pulled out of your mouth, looking down at you with absolute adoration and awe.
Before you could even catch your breath, Jack’s deep voice cut through the quiet of the room from behind you. “Do you think you can take me, sweetheart?”
You shifted slightly, looking back over your shoulder at Jack. He was up on his knees now, completely towering over your hips. His dick was throbbing, noticeably thicker than Robby’s, and while it wasn't quite as long, it was incredibly large and intimidating.
“Yeah, please, Jack,” you pleaded, your voice a desperate, needy whisper.
Jack smiled down at you, his eyes dark with a fierce tenderness. “I am gonna go slow, okay?” he promised.
You nodded fast, your heart pounding with anticipation. Jack leaned forward, shifting his weight over your body. He brought his hands down right beside yours on the mattress, his fingers interlacing softly with your own to anchor you. His bare chest pressed firmly against your back, the heat of his skin sending a fresh wave of goosebumps over your flesh.
Using the slickness from his own saliva and the work he had done with his tongue, Jack guided the heavy head of his dick right against your entrance.
“Are you ready, darling?” he murmured directly into your ear.
“Yes… yes, Jack,” you gasped out.
He slowly, carefully started pushing his way inside. You felt your entrance stretching tightly around his immense thickness, and a sharp line of pain flared through your hips. It hurt, but you didn't want him to stop, you wanted to be filled by him. You breathed through it, pressing your face into the pillow, and after a few agonizingly perfect moments, the tightness gave way. The pain completely dissolved, and a rush of overwhelming, full pleasure took its place.
“So tight, baby. You sure you're okay?” Jack asked, pausing his movements entirely to let you adjust to his size.
You nodded quickly, letting out a ragged sigh as he rested fully inside of you.
Once he felt you relax, Jack slowly started thrusting his hips. He moved in and out in a smooth, agonizingly slow motion, learning the rhythm of your body. A loud, uninhibited moan escaped your lips with every deep stroke. His fingers tightened securely around yours, locking your hands to the bed. Then, his right arm came around, his massive, solid bicep gently cradling your face and pulling your head back slightly against his arm so he could hear your whimpers. The feel of his flexing muscle against your cheek as he buried himself inside you was the hottest thing you had ever experienced.
Robby watched the two of you with a dark, satisfied smile. He had shifted back against the headboard, his long legs spread wide with your lower half still nestled securely between them. One of his hands was resting on his own dick, idly stroking it in a slow, relaxed rhythm as he enjoyed the view. Your free hand slid up his torso, your fingers digging into his thick, hairy chest and scratching lightly against his warm skin. Robby let out a low rumble of approval, his other hand coming up to gently cup yours against his breastbone.
“You are doing so good, baby,” Robby praised, his voice dripping with pride. “So fucking good for me and Jack.”
Right on cue, Jack leaned down, his lips brushing the sensitive skin of your ear as his breathing hitched. “So good, sweetheart... want me to go faster?”
You nodded frantically against Robby’s chest, completely desperate for more. You felt the dangerous slide of Jack’s lips curving into a smirk against your skin just before he picked up the pace. He started thrusting faster and harder, his weight slamming against your hips in a relentless, possessive rhythm. His teeth sank gently into your earlobe, biting down just enough to send a sharp jolt of electricity straight to your core, while soft, broken moans escaped his lips and echoed yours.
Sensing your friction, Robby shifted his hips a little lower on the mattress, aligning himself perfectly with you. Delirious from the pleasure, you pressed your face right into the soft hair of his pubes, nuzzling against his dick as Jack’s heavy thrusts began hitting your prostate with brutal accuracy.
The internal pressure was unbelievable. A white hot wave of pleasure washed over you, and you could feel yourself getting dangerously close to the edge without anyone even touching your front.
“I…I’m close,” you managed to choke out, your voice breaking as you arched your back into Jack’s heavy strokes.
Jack let out a dark, breathless chuckle behind you. “Yeah, baby? Overstimulating you without even touching your dick?” he asked, his voice filled with absolute, proud satisfaction.
You nodded frantically, your vision blurring.
“Cum for us, baby,” Jack commanded, his pace turning feral.
That was all it took. The final, hard thrust hit the perfect spot, and your body completely shattered. You came hard, a loud, ruined “Fuck, Jack!” tearing from your throat as your orgasm shot all over the bedsheets. Your entire body spasmed, squeezing tightly around Jack’s thick length.
The intense, milking friction of your release completely broke Jack’s control. He let out a deep, guttural growl, delivering three more heavy, desperate thrusts before his hips locked tightly against your ass. He groaned loudly against your neck as his dick throbbed inside you, painting your insides with a thick, burning load of his own cum.
The three of you stayed completely still for a few minutes, the only sound in the bedroom being your heavy, synchronized breathing as the rush of adrenaline slowly began to fade. The heat of Jack’s bare body was pressed flush against your back, still deeply connected to you.
As your mind started to clear, a sudden realization hit you, bringing a wave of mild panic with it. Robby hadn't gotten to fuck you.
“R… Robby, you didn’t…” you started to say, your voice laced with worry as you tried to look up at him.
Robby instantly caught your drift. His large, warm palm found your cheek in a gentle gesture, stroking his thumb under your eye to soothe you.
“Baby, we have all the time in the world,” he said with a warm, easy smile. “Besides, I’m getting old. I didn’t have that much power left in me today anyway.”
You couldn't help but smile back at his reassurance, the tension leaving your shoulders.
“Oh, but I have,” Jack spoke up from behind you, a cocky, amused ring to his voice. “But not right now,” he added quickly, letting out a soft laugh that made his chest rumble against your back.
A light, comfortable laughter rippled through the three of you.
“Did you enjoy it, sweetheart?” Jack asked softly. He carefully and slowly pulled out of you, a wet, sliding sensation that made you shudder slightly, before he shifted his weight to climb further up toward the head of the bed.
You were still positioned between Robby’s legs, but he gently pulled you up until you were resting directly on top of his torso. You relaxed your back straight against his broad, hairy chest, your head nestled perfectly beneath his jaw as he rested his chin right on the top of your head. Jack climbed up beside you, and Robby immediately opened his free arm, pulling his husband into the embrace so the three of you were completely tangled together in a warm pile of limbs.
“Do you want to smoke?” Robby asked, his deep voice vibrating right through your back.
You tilted your head back slightly to look up at him. “Is that okay with you guys?”
Robby nodded, but just as you went to say something, you remembered you had left your cigarettes out in your own clothes. Before you could even explain, Robby reached over to his side of the bed, opened the nightstand drawer, and pulled out a fresh pack of cigarettes and a glass ashtray.
He tapped a cigarette out of the pack, gently placed it between your lips, and flicked his lighter. A small flame illuminated his handsome face as he held it up for you. You inhaled deeply, the familiar harshness of the smoke filling your lungs before you blew a slow cloud toward the ceiling.
After taking another drag, you lifted your hand and offered the cigarette to Robby’s mouth. He wrapped his lips around it and took a long, satisfied drag, blowing the smoke away from your face. Then, you leaned forward slightly and offered it to Jack, who took a drag of his own with a quiet grunt of appreciation.
The cigarette was passed between the three of you in a quiet, intimate rhythm until it was eventually stubbed out in the ashtray.
With the smoke cleared, the intense exhaustion from the sex finally caught up to you. A heavy, peaceful tiredness washed over your entire body, and your eyelids started to feel impossibly heavy. Wrapped securely in their hold, your eyes slowly began to close. You drifted off to the comforting, steady rhythm of Robby’s heartbeat beneath your cheek, and the warm, grounding weight of Jack’s hand resting securely over your stomach.

The blue light of the television flickered across the living room, casting long shadows against the walls as the doctors on screen dealt with another high stakes surgery. Dennis was barely paying attention, his head resting against the back of the couch while his mind drifted through the exhaustion of the week. That was until the sharp vibration of his phone against the wooden coffee table jolted him upright.
He grabbed the device, and his heart did a frantic little acrobatic flip when he saw the name on the screen.
Robby: hey Dennis i know its late but can you help me
Dennis felt the heat creep up his neck instantly. He bit his lip, his fingers hovering over the keyboard as he typed out a reply that felt a little too eager, though he could not bring himself to tone it down.
Dennis: yes dr Robby what do you need?
The typing bubbles appeared almost instantly, dancing at the bottom of the screen as if the person on the other end was tripping over their own thumbs.
Robby: i can’t put the baby to sleep she doesn’t stop crying and i already gave her milk and i dont know what to do
Dennis stared at the words, feeling a strange tug in his chest. He did not know it was possible for a text message to sound like a total panic attack, but he could practically hear the raw desperation in Robby’s voice through the digital characters. The suave, collected attending physician he saw walking the hospital halls with such authority was nowhere to be found in that sentence. In his place was a man who was clearly drowning in fatherhood.
Dennis: i dont know how to explain it over text
He started to type out a list of suggestions about checking the diaper or trying a specific white noise frequency, but before he could finish the thought, another message popped up that made his breath hitch.
Robby: can you come to my place? I really need help you can stay in the guest room after
Dennis’s pulse hammered against his ribs. The idea of staying over made his head spin, but he quickly deleted his draft and sent a simple confirmation.
Dennis: okay yeah i am coming
Robby: you have the address right i gave it to you when I thought I would actually leave this place
Dennis: yeah i have it see you in fifteen dr Robby
He clicked his phone shut, a giddy and nervous smile plastered on his face. He did not even realize how wide he was grinning until Trinity shifted on the other end of the couch, eyeing him with a look of pure mischief. She had already paused the show, her attention fully locked on his face.
"Why are you looking like you just won the lottery at eleven o'clock at night?" Trinity asked, her voice dripping with amusement. "That was not a checking my bank account smile, Dennis. That was a the boy I like finally noticed I exist smile."
Dennis tried to pull his face into something more neutral, but it was a lost cause. "It’s Robby. He’s at home with the baby he took from the hospital and he’s losing it. He says she won't stop crying and he doesn't know what to do."
Trinity leaned forward, her eyes widening as a slow, wicked smirk spread across her face. "Oh, so the big attending is calling his favorite student for a midnight rescue mission? That is adorable. You’re going to go over there and play house, aren't you?"
"I am going over there because a child is screaming and a man is stressed," Dennis insisted, already standing up and smoothing out his shirt with nervous energy. "He's a new father, Trin. He’s alone and he’s out of his depth. It’s a professional courtesy."
"Professional courtesy, my butt," she laughed, stretching her legs out on the sofa. "You’ve had a crush on Dr. Robby since the first day he critiqued your sutures. This is basically a date with a diaper changing intermission. You’re going to be a regular little family."
"Stop it," Dennis mumbled, though his burning cheeks betrayed him completely. He grabbed his keys from the bowl by the door, pausing for a second as he looked back at her. "Is it okay if I take the car?"
Trinity laughed, waving a hand dismissively as she reached for the remote to unpause her show. "Of course, Huckleberry. Go be the hero. Go save your knight in shining scrubs from the scary infant."
As he opened the door, she called out one last time, her voice rising over the sound of the TV. "But be careful and for the love of god, Dennis, use a condom if the baby actually falls asleep!"
Dennis did not even give her the satisfaction of a verbal comeback. He simply flipped her off over his shoulder and bolted out the door, his heart racing faster than the engine as he pulled out of the driveway and headed toward the address he had kept memorized for weeks.
The drive was a blur of streetlights and nervous anticipation. When Dennis finally pulled up to the curb, he stared at the house for a moment, gripping the steering wheel. It was a nice place, quiet and shadowed under the moonlight. He could see a faint, warm glow coming from one of the upstairs windows, and even from the car, he imagined he could hear the faint, rhythmic sound of a baby’s wail.
He did not want to risk the sharp chime of the doorbell, so he pulled out his phone.
Dennis: i am outside i didn't want to ring the bell because of the baby
A few seconds later, the porch light clicked on. The front door swung open, and Robby stood there, framed by the entryway. Dennis felt a pang of genuine sympathy the moment he saw him. This was not the polished, untouchable Dr. Robby from the surgical floor. His hair was a mess, his shirt was wrinkled and stained with something that looked like formula, and the dark circles under his eyes spoke of a bone deep exhaustion.
"Hey, Dr. Robby, are you okay?" Dennis asked as he walked up the path, already knowing the answer.
"Sorry for bringing you here this late, Dennis," Robby said, his voice raspy. He stepped aside to let him in, looking completely defeated. "But she hasn’t stopped crying for two hours. I’ve tried everything. I don't know what to do."
Just then, a sharp, piercing cry echoed down the hallway. It was the kind of sound that made your chest tighten.
"Don’t worry, Dr. Robby, I get it," Dennis said softly, stepping into the warmth of the house. "Babies are a whole different kind of trauma surgery."
Robby let out a tired, breathless laugh and rubbed the back of his neck. "Please, just call me Robby. We aren't at work, Dennis."
Dennis felt that familiar heat rush to his face, and he gave a small, shy nod. "Okay. Robby."
They walked toward the back of the house where a small bassinet was set up. Robby hovered over it, his hands twitching with a mix of love and pure frustration. "I don’t know what I’m doing so wrong. I mean, I know I’m not great at the domestic stuff yet, but I just don't get it. I checked her diaper, she’s fed, she’s warm."
He carefully reached down and scooped the tiny girl into his arms. She was red faced and screaming, her little fists bunched up. With a look of total desperation, Robby turned and handed her over to Dennis.
"Honestly, I don't know much about the science of babies, but for some reason, they’ve always liked me," Dennis whispered.
As he took the weight of the infant into his arms, he instinctively adjusted his hold, supporting her head and tucking her close to his chest. He began a slow, rhythmic bounce, swaying gently from side to side. At first, the baby continued to shriek, her tiny lungs working overtime, but Dennis did not panic. He leaned his head down, close to her ear, and began to hum.
The humming turned into a low, soft melody, a song his parents used to sing to him when the world felt too big and loud. His voice was steady and calm, cutting through the tension in the room. Slowly, almost like a miracle, the baby’s screams turned into whimpers. Her little body, once stiff with distress, began to relax against Dennis’s sweater. Her eyes fluttered, the heavy lids finally winning the battle, until her breathing leveled out into the sweet, rhythmic huff of sleep.
Robby stood there, frozen, watching the scene like he was witnessing a high level medical miracle. He looked at Dennis with a gaze full of awe and something that looked suspiciously like hero worship.
"How did you do that?" Robby whispered, stepping closer, his voice barely audible. "What did you sing to her?"
Dennis blushed, keeping his movements small so as not to wake the sleeping girl. "Oh, it’s just a song my parents used to sing to me to put me to sleep when I was little. I guess it still works."
Robby approached them, looking down at the baby girl in Dennis’s arms. He was so close now that Dennis could smell the faint scent of coffee and baby powder clinging to him.
"It was magic," Robby said, his eyes shifting from the baby up to Dennis’s face. "I have never seen her this calm in her life with me. I’ve been pacing the floor for hours and you just... you fixed it."
Dennis smiled, feeling a surge of confidence despite the fluttering in his stomach. "It was not magic, she just needed a different rhythm. I can teach you the song, if you want."
"I would love to," Robby whispered, his voice thick with a profound sense of relief.
He moved in close, his arms brushing against Dennis’s as he reached out to reclaim the sleeping bundle. He was incredibly careful, transitioning the baby from Dennis’s warmth to his own with a slow, deliberate grace that made Dennis’s heart ache. Robby carried her over to the bassinet, lowering her down onto the soft sheets as if she were made of the thinnest glass. When she did not stir, he let out a long, shaky breath and turned back toward the door.
"Come on," Robby said, gesturing toward the back of the house. "Let’s go out to the balcony so we can talk for a minute."
Dennis followed him through the quiet house, his sneakers squeaking softly on the polished hardwood floors. He watched the way Robby’s shoulders finally dropped from their defensive hunch, the tension slowly draining out of his frame.
"Are you sure you don’t want to sleep?" Dennis asked in a hushed whisper as he trailed behind him. "You look completely exhausted."
Robby stopped at the glass door and turned around. He did not say anything at first; he just looked at Dennis with a soft, weary smile that felt more intimate than any look they had ever exchanged at the hospital. The exhaustion in his eyes was still there, but it was tempered by a genuine warmth that made Dennis’s face burn.
"I will manage a little more time without sleep, Dennis," Robby replied quietly.
Dennis gave a small, shy nod, unable to hold that steady gaze for too long. They stepped out onto the balcony, the cool night air hitting them like a refreshing splash of water. The world outside was silent, save for the distant hum of the city and the rustle of leaves in the yard below.
Robby leaned his elbows against the railing and reached into his pocket, pulling out a crumpled pack of cigarettes. He flipped the lid, the metallic click sharp in the stillness, and offered one to Dennis.
Dennis stared at the pack, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise.
"I didn't know you smoked," Dennis said, his voice a mix of curiosity and disbelief. It felt so out of character for the pristine, health conscious surgeon he knew professionally.
Robby let out a dry, self deprecating chuckle as he pulled one out for himself and lit it. The orange glow of the flame illuminated the tired lines around his eyes for a brief second before he blew a thin cloud of smoke into the dark.
"I don’t, usually," Robby admitted, looking out over the quiet neighborhood. "But tonight felt like an exception to a lot of my rules."
Dennis took the cigarette and lit it, the small orange ember glowing brightly between them as he took a slow, thoughtful drag. He exhaled a cloud of smoke that vanished quickly into the cool night air before he turned to look at the man beside him.
"Can I ask you something," Dennis asked, his voice barely louder than a whisper. He paused, watching Robby closely. "And you really don't have to answer if it feels like too much."
Robby shifted his weight against the railing, his eyes fixed on the distant city lights. He gave a small, weary nod. "Go for it, Dennis."
"Why did you decide to adopt her," Dennis asked, the question hanging softly in the quiet of the balcony. "I mean, what was the moment you knew it was finally time to do something like this?"
Robby huffed a short, dry breath and stayed silent for a long moment. He looked like he was cataloging years of history in his head before he finally found the words.
"I think I saw myself in her," Robby said, his voice dropping into a vulnerable, husky register. "My mother walked away when I was just a kid, and my father was a world class asshole. I grew up with my grandparents, and they were great, but that little girl in there literally has no one. Looking at her was like looking in a mirror of my own childhood. It just felt right in a way I can't really explain. Besides, I have always wanted to be a father, but life never quite lined up that way. This felt like my one real shot to finally be the person I needed when I was her age."
Robby turned his head, locking eyes with Dennis. The raw honesty in his expression was almost overwhelming.
Dennis nodded slowly, feeling a deep swell of respect for the man standing in front of him. He reached out a hand as if to offer comfort before letting it rest on the railing between them.
"For what it is worth, I think you are going to be an incredible father, Robby," Dennis said, his voice steady and sincere. "And you aren't doing this alone. We are all here to help you every step of the way."
Robby looked at Dennis, his gaze lingering on the younger man's eyes before dropping down to his lips. The silence between them grew heavy, charged with a sudden, electric tension that made the cool night air feel warm. Robby shifted, his hand that still held the cigarette moving to rest gently over Dennis’s hand on the railing. He stepped closer, closing the small gap between them until Dennis could feel the heat radiating from him.
"Thank you, Dennis," Robby said in a voice so soft it was almost a caress.
He looked Dennis in the eyes again, his pupils blown wide in the dim light, before his focus drifted back to Dennis’s mouth. Robby’s free hand reached out, his fingers finding Dennis’s skin, trailing up slightly as he began to lean down with agonizing slowness. Just before their lips could meet, Robby paused, his breath ghosting over Dennis’s face.
"Is this okay," Robby whispered, his voice trembling slightly with uncertainty.
"Yes," Dennis breathed out, the word weak and barely audible, but filled with a desperate kind of certainty.
Robby leaned in the rest of the way and pressed his lips against Dennis’s. The kiss started out soft and careful, a warm exploration that tasted of smoke and unspoken feelings. Dennis felt his heart hammer against his ribs as his own free hand rose instinctively, his fingers tangling into the hair at the nape of Robby’s neck.
As the kiss deepened, Robby’s hand slid down to find Dennis’s waist, pulling him flush against his body. Robby pulled back for a split second just to take both of their cigarettes and stub them out in the ashtray, clearing the way so he could wrap both arms around Dennis. He pulled him closer than before, and Dennis responded by hooking his arms firmly around Robby’s neck.
Before they could continue the moment, the baby started crying again, and they broke the kiss with a little shared laughter.
"Lets go inside," Robby said as he took Dennis's hand and kissed him softly again. "If we are lucky we might be able to continue later."
He gave Dennis a quick wink, and Dennis smiled as they stepped back into the house. Robby took the baby girl back into his arms, swaying her just as Dennis had done.
"Did you name her yet or is it just baby girl?" Dennis asked with a grin, watching the little one calm down once more.
"I haven't yet. I don't know what to call her. Give me some ideas," Robby said, looking from the baby to Dennis.
"Me? Really?" Dennis asked, surprised.
Robby nodded firmly. "Yeah, you Dennis. Help me please."
Dennis looked at the tiny face and thought for a moment. "What about Lucy? Or Lillie?"
"I like the Lillie one better," Robby said, and Dennis felt himself blush. "Lillie it is."
After Lillie was finally asleep in Robby’s arms, Dennis spoke softly. "You two should go to bed."
Robby looked at him with tired, warm eyes. "There is space for a third one if you like."
"I would love to," Dennis said.
Robby smiled and began walking toward the bedroom. "Do you need some more comfortable clothes?"
Dennis nodded, and Robby handed Lillie to him briefly so he could open his closet. He pulled out a pair of grey sweatpants and a brown hoodie that Dennis had always liked on him. Dennis took the clothes to the bathroom and changed quickly. When he returned to the bedroom, he saw Robby lying on the left side of the bed with Lillie resting on top of him. Robby patted the mattress, inviting Dennis to the space beside him.
Dennis went to the bed and slowly went under the covers, making sure he did not wake up Lillie. After he was settled, Robby pulled him closer and looked at him with a tired smile, leaning down to kiss him softly.
"Robby, Lillie is here," Dennis whispered, though he did not pull away.
"She won't mind," Robby murmured against his lips, continuing to kiss him with a slow, rhythmic tenderness that made the rest of the world fall away.
After a few more moments of quiet affection, Robby finally broke the kiss. Dennis shifted, tucking his head into the crook of Robby’s neck. He could feel the slight, rough scratch of Robby’s beard against his forehead, a sensation that felt grounding and surprisingly intimate.
Robby reached over with a heavy arm and clicked the light on the nightstand, plunging the room into a soft, velvety darkness. He laid down completely, his breath hitching slightly as he adjusted to the weight of the baby on his chest and the man in his arms.
"I am so glad you came," Robby whispered into the silence, his voice thick with sleep.
Dennis tightened his hold just a fraction, closing his eyes as he breathed in the scent of the oversized hoodie and the man wearing it. "I will always come if you need me," he replied softly.
The room grew quiet, filled only by the synchronized sound of their breathing. Slowly, the exhaustion of the long night took over, and the three of them drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep.
————————————————————————
One Month Later
The glow from the baby monitor was the only thing cutting through the darkness, a small square of light that served as a silent reminder of the life they had built over the last month. But tonight, the quiet of the house felt heavy with a different kind of tension. Under the tangled sheets, the air was stifling, smelling of sweat and the raw, salt-heavy scent of skin on skin.
Dennis was already slick and trembling as he hiked himself up, straddling Robby’s lap. He felt the thick, heavy length of Robby’s cock pressing hard against his entrance, and he didn't hesitate. He reached down, his fingers shaking as he guided the head to his opening, then slowly, agonizingly, he began to impale himself. He watched Robby’s face the whole time, needing to see the way the man’s composure shattered.
"Fuck, Dennis," Robby hissed, his head thumping back against the headboard as he watched Dennis take him. "You’re fucking killing me, baby. Tight as hell."
Dennis let out a strangled, shaky breath as he slid down the rest of the way, his walls stretching and clenching around the intrusion. He felt completely stretched open, a blunt, heavy pressure that made his vision blur. He gripped Robby’s thighs, his knuckles white, while his other hand buried itself in Robby’s beard, pulling him close.
"Fuck, Robby, you're so goddamn big," Dennis moaned, the sound raw and unfiltered as he started to move.
Robby didn't wait for him to find a rhythm. He grabbed Dennis’s hand, kissing his knuckles with a desperate, hungry intensity before his hands dropped to Dennis’s waist. He started to thrust upward, meeting every one of Dennis’s downward grinds with a powerful, bruising force.
"Take it all, Dennis," Robby growled, his voice a low, guttural rasp that made Dennis’s insides quiver. "Fucking take it. It’s all yours."
Dennis leaned forward, his sweat-slicked chest sliding against Robby’s. Every time they connected, a sharp, electric jolt shot through his spine. He was trying to keep his voice down, mindful of the sleeping girl a few rooms away, but it was becoming impossible. "I'm so full, fuck, Robby, yes," he gasped into the crook of Robby's neck.
Robby suddenly sat up, his muscles bunching as he hauled Dennis higher onto his lap. With his hands locked onto Dennis’s hips like a vice, he began to pump into him with a relentless, driving pace. The sound of their bodies slapping together was loud in the quiet room, a wet, rhythmic thud that underscored the desperation of the moment.
"That’s it, baby," Robby whispered, his teeth grazing the shell of Dennis’s ear. "Make those sounds for me. Let me hear how good this feels."
Dennis came undone, his head rolling back as he cried out Robby’s name over and over, his fingers digging into Robby’s shoulders. Robby leaned in, crushing his mouth against Dennis’s in a hard, messy kiss that was more teeth than lips, before migrating down to his throat. He bit down on the junction of Dennis’s neck and shoulder, marking him deeply, his breath coming in ragged, frantic hitches as they pushed each other toward the edge.
Robby let out a low, guttural groan as he finished inside, his forehead dropping heavily onto Dennis’s shoulder. He stayed there for a long moment, breathing hard, feeling the rhythmic, involuntary pulses of Dennis’s body as he squeezed tight around him. Every twitch of muscle felt like it was milking the last bit of heat out of him, and Robby just let his weight sink into the mattress, completely spent.
When he finally pulled back enough to look at him, Robby’s eyes were dark and blown out. He leaned in for one more kiss, hard and messy, their lips slick and swollen. As they broke apart, both of them were wearing identical, breathless smirks.
"I love you so much," Robby whispered, his voice still a little wrecked from the exertion.
Dennis felt the familiar heat rush to his cheeks, but he didn't look away this time. "Love you too, old man," he teased, his voice light despite the heavy thudding of his heart.
Robby let out a soft, genuine laugh, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Oh, I will show you old," he muttered playfully. He shifted his weight, expertly turning Dennis onto his back so he could loom over him, pinning his wrists gently against the pillows.
He was just about to lean down and pick up where they left off when a sharp, high pitched wail cut through the quiet of the room. Both of them froze, their eyes darting simultaneously to the glowing screen of the baby monitor on the nightstand. Lillie was awake, and she was making sure the whole house knew it.
Robby stayed hovering over Dennis for a second, his forehead resting against Dennis’s as they both sighed in unison. "Whose turn is it," Robby asked, his voice full of mock defeat.
Dennis grinned, reaching up to pat Robby’s cheek affectionately. "Yours."
Robby groaned into the crook of Dennis’s neck before pushing himself up. He grabbed a nearby towel, quickly wiping the sweat and the mess of their encounter from his skin. He moved with practiced, fatherly efficiency now, pausing to rub a bit of hand sanitizer into his palms before pulling on a pair of boxers.
"Don't go anywhere," Robby warned with a wink before disappearing into the hallway.
Dennis lay there in the dark, listening to the muffled sounds of Robby’s low, soothing voice coming through the monitor. Ten minutes passed, the house falling back into that heavy, peaceful silence, until the bedroom door creaked open again.
Robby did not just walk back; he practically dove onto the bed, crawling back over the covers until he was hovering over Dennis once more.
"Okay," Robby whispered, his hands finding Dennis’s waist and pulling him close. "Now, let’s continue exactly where we were interrupted."
He did not give Dennis a chance to respond before his mouth was back on his, his kisses deeper and more determined than before.
"So glad you came to help me," Robby whispered against his lips, his voice thick with a month’s worth of gratitude and a lifetime of relief. He peppered small, hungry kisses along Dennis's jawline, his hands roaming over Dennis's skin as if he still couldn't quite believe he wasn't doing this alone.
"So glad I did," Dennis murmured, his breath hitching as he pulled Robby back down to him. He tangled his fingers in Robby’s hair, drawing him into a kiss that was slower this time, deeper, and anchored by the steady, rhythmic hum of the life they had built together.
Outside, the world was silent and draped in the deep velvet of the early morning hours. Inside the room, the only light came from the small, flickering screen of the monitor, a tiny beacon of the responsibility they shared. The air was warm, smelling of skin and soft cotton and the quiet comfort of home.
Robby settled his weight between Dennis’s legs, his forehead resting against his as they shared a final, lingering breath. The urgency had mellowed into something more profound, a connection that went beyond the heat of the moment and into the quiet promises of the future. The night stretched on, long and peaceful, wrapping around them as they found their way back to each other in the dark.

That came out better than I expected. For some reason, I find it easier to draw bodies using references, but faces? Fuck, I just can’t 😭 Every time they come out looking like monsters.
So for this one, I traced over the reference a little, but only for the outlines of the beard, nose, and eyes. After that, I sketched the wrinkles and all the small details myself. I know it’s not the most ethical thing, but I’m still learning and faces are really hard for me right now.
The whole body was not traced though, and honestly I’m really impressed with myself.
