Coltland twins angst

I imagine whenever something bad happens they always call each other first. When Ryland spoke at the disastrous UNESCO conference Colt was the first to know, when Colt had his accident Ryland took the first plane to be by his side.

Now that Ryland works for Stratt and Colt is back to being a stuntman the twins don’t have the time to talk as much as they used to. Ryland is excited when he sees Colt’s caller ID light up his phone. He asks a lab assistant to watch his gel electrophoresis experiment before he answers his phone.

He knows something isn’t right the moment he answers.

He tries to convince Colt to please come join him on Stratt’s vat where he’ll be safe, but to no avail.

He finishes up experiment with shaky hands and quietly cries as he analyses his results.

I’m an absolute sucker for Ryland going to one of Tom Ryder’s party’s, getting hammered whilst Colt is super overprotective, trying to not lose his shit over his little brother (by 5 minutes) being glued to Tom’s side, telling him random science facts that don’t really make any sense.

Ryland calling Henry a staggering waste of carbon when he mockingly asks if Tom does his own stunts. Tom, too shocked and captivated by his conflict avoidant boyfriend standing up for him focuses on calming Ryland down instead of outing his anger at Henry. Tom who quietly orders boxes worth of sour skittles as a thank you.

Had to draw Tom Ryder in space. Love the thought of Tom and Rocky constantly squabbling about everything whilst Grace busy trying to actually save earth and Erid.

Also just really wanted to draw Tom struggling in zero G, imagine Grace just turns off centrifuge mode just to fuck with him whenever Tom pisses him off.

As much as I love a Ryder who will sleep with anyone and everyone give me Starstruck with comphet!Ryder who grew up in the movie industry or with parents determined to shape “America’s Sexiest Man” and of course both women and men will be attracted to you but you don’t acknowledge it and god forbid you look at anyone other than a woman.

Tom who doesn’t even know what his personal romantic and sexual preferences are because he’s been trained either by parents or managers exactly how he should be in relationships both publicly and privately and it’s really just going through the motions with dates and sleeping with women, anything to get the right story/image of him being good in bed (the man is dissociating hard)

In comes Ryland and you could really hc any sexuality/gender/romantic preference. In this au we have a Grace who knows exactly what he does and doesn’t like romantically/in the bedroom and why because he’s a scientist. Drugs? Tried them, has recorded exactly how he is with them, and knows his preferences and tolerances. Different kinks? Been there done that with other curious science students and knows where things land on a scale of tolerable to wonderful to downright banned.

In this dichotomy it would be a Ryland who’s parents and Colt were incredibly supportive of, creating a safe haven to feel comfortable wearing skirts or trying different pronouns (just because the pronouns we have now are good doesn’t mean we can’t hypothesize new ones Colt!) or if it’s trans!Grace they help him transition and change his name etc.

Tom, who originally just teased and flirted with Grace just to piss Colt off, slowly realizing that his heart actually skips a beat if he can get Grace to laugh, his eyes always look around set to see if Grace is watching him. Director’s and producers tell him his romantic scenes are coming together in less takes and he realizes it’s because he’s thinking about saying these things to Grace.

Jump to Grace and Tom actually getting together and, ever the scientist, asks tom about his preferences of communication/attachment/boundaries/kinks/etc and Tom can’t answer any of it because he doesn’t know what Grace is talking about at all he just knows the “How to Woo and Date the Current Actress of the Year” playbook or better yet the reason him and Iggy are a social media couple is they are both horribly closeted even to themselves and it’s better they both fake it together.

Been trying out new artstyles lately to battle art block. Been really loving more simple shading lately :D

I really love teacher!Grace, suits are so fun to draw and I feel like all the classroom scenes in the movie look so warm and cozy. Kinda a ramble but I feel like the warm tones reflect how the classroom and teaching is like Grace’s safe space, as opposed to the cool colours of the labs on Stratt’s vat where he is being pulled out of his comfort zone.
