Ana was too distracted by her current problem with the vending machine to notice the man. Besides having other things in her mind as well. She only noticed him when he offered her exactly the snack she had been trying to get. âOh..â She was surprised, offering him a smile. âYou⊠Really didnât have to. But thanks.â
âYouâre welcome.â he returns her smile, it wasnât a hardship on his part, so he thought why not. Peeling the wrap from his own bar, he snaps off a square and pops the chocolate in his mouth as he moves away from the vending machine. âWould hate to see what youâd do if you starved.â he was being cheeky and plus, she had a mean kick, one he knew he wouldnât want to be on the wrong side of.

âwonderful, remind me to request you try it sometime so i can watch.â there was a smirk on her lips, but whether or not she was joking was very unclear. âthatâs incredibly rude, i could so be a virgin, maybe not in this body, but the next? maybe iâll go for a nun.â she chuckled. carmen looked towards him and hummed. âinteresting. were they like you, too?â on the run, in the shadows. âi love a good dessert, theyâve got something in every flavour these days.â compared to the old days, now she could go into a store and buy anything sweet her heart desired. âlemon sherberts for example.â a personal fave. whoever said an ancient being couldnât love the simple creations.
âYeah? When I piss you off?â he scoffed, thinking sheâd say yes, purely because he wasnât able to tell if she was having him on or not. âI think youâd look good as a nun.â he teased, now heading into the store and towards one of the tables. He nods his head, âDonât think youâll ever meet one thatâs not hiding in plain sight.â it was practically instinct at this point. âIf you do, might as well put them out of their misery.â he was joking, more so because he doubted sheâd ever come across one that absorbed attention. âYou like those?â there was a slight look of judgement, more so because it was a surprise that someone like her liked something so simple.Â
Only a few things made Ana angry. Being hungry was definitely one of those things. Being hungry and being annnoyed by the never ending feeling that something was wrong somewhere in the world made her angrier. Which is why she found herself complaining to a vending machine. âEstĂșpida mĂĄquina de mierda!â She cursed, kicking the machine. Could she use her magic to get the food? Definitely. But what better way to let her frustration out than to kick something.
seeing the woman at one of the vending machines, he opts for the other. choosing his choice of snack he pops in the numbers, as he watches it fall he whips his head in her direction, a little smirk on his features as she kicks the machine. he doesnât flinch, heâs not fazed. what he does do, is glance at what she wanted that was clearly stuck and got it for her from his. reaching for both snacks, he soon hands hers to her. âhere.â

âSo I heard from him.â She chuckled. âItâs a pleasure to meet you, Jax.â Persephone greeted. âIâm here to bring Spring to life for the world. Make flowers bloom. Make trees and vines provide fruit. Iâll be here until Autumn begins and then back down to Hell.â
offering a smile turns his attention back onto the view before him, only looking back when she mentioned hell. âhell?â he repeats, a brief cock to his brow, âwhatâd you do down there then?â he asks, heâs curious. surely that couldnât be by choice? it wasnât like making flowers bloom would happen down there.
carmenxreyesâ
âoh, kinky, why donât you just do that anyway?â she teased. âhey, if you did, would they regenerate?â a fair question, not that she would actually get him to do it so she could find out. though, actually â maybe, but only if he ever pissed her off. âoh?â she raised her brow. that whole virgin thing? it was really creepy. âguess iâll just offer myself up then?â she blinked innocently. as if to suggest she was one herself. âmm, same.â but that wasnât hard to do considering sheâd only met one of his kind. âyouâve met your own kind then? how did that go?â carmen did wonder, you would think they would band together, but since he was still a lone ranger she figured that was only a fairytale notion. âaw, you flatter me.â she chuckled, nodding to the place just a few steps away. âthis it?â
âhealed from much worse, so..â heâd leave that to her imagination, boy he knew she had one. he couldnât technically say yes, but he could regenerate for numerous amount of injuries, what was a couple of poked eyes? he soon scoffed, clearly calling bullshit, âsure.â he even nods, âgotta be disappointing somehow, huh.â he was teasing, joking, apparently caring not for the expected act of pretence shock. ânot well, in the end.â he chuckled, he wasnât saying it wasnât good to begin with. maybe things would have been different for him if they hadnât been hunted? maybe was a strange concept for him. âit is.â he steps forward, opening the door for her, âfinest desserts for a mile.â he meant literally at that.Â
laraxdiasâ
âthat is what i think it will be full of.â call it a feeling, call it her ability, whatever was happening here? it was certainly not going to be a good thing. everything she felt in her bones all pointed in the horror type of direction. âsure, but it was a question i was prompting you to answer.â both brows lifted in amusement, more so because she did actually get the feeling he wasnât a big believer in psychic ability. how far could she push before he started to question it? âyou may survive in a world of fire, jax, but would you want to?â she chose the word fire on purpose.
âoh, didnât get that hint..â there was just a touch of sarcasm, of course he got the prompt, he was just choosing to be difficult. humorously so, for him. he didnât feel the need to state something that was obvious---- curiously so on her part, hence why he was still here. he was even slowly pulling apart his muffin and popping the pieces in his mouth. if there wasnât a spark of interest, he would had downed his latte, told her it was nice to meet her and thank you for saving my hair and left. he was, what did she say? rusty, after all. thereâs a furrow to his brows at her fire mention, he even inwardly chuckles. amusement clear for some reason or another. âwell i like it hot.. so, suppose i would. might get a lilâ incinerating though, whatâd you think? think iâd be alright?â a smirk is slowly forming, purposely now hinting his own obvious fact.
laraxdiasâ
âthat hardly surprises me. your bedside manner is a little on the rusty side.â she teased. well, it wasnât untrue now, was it? he didnât give off a typical hey come speak to me vibe, more of a please leave me alone one, so naturally, she had to ignore it. âdo you not get lonely?â she decided to ask, rather than asking him why he was alone. not that she fully expected the truth, she just assumed loneliness was something anyone or anything could experience with enough time. âno, but that doesnât mean they wouldnât wish they had. i donât know about you but a world with only ruin, pain and misery? doesnât sound appealing.â lara shrugged, looking back up at him. âwould you happen to be one of those things?â that wouldnât die, she meant.Â
he wasnât offended, he thought a little was kind. but perhaps that was purposely done. ânot anymore.â he knew that implied that he had been lonely once upon a time, but several centuries later he didnât know any different. the only thing he was consciously aware of was to not form any type of bond. protecting number one had become more of a survival instinct. it was shaped into him. he didnât mind giving her an honest answer either, he didnât see a need to hide that fact about him. âdepends if you think thatâs what itâll be full of.â the pain and the misery, he means. perhaps sheâd be surprised by how quick ( on the scale of things ) life regrew. âthat survive destruction? sure you know that already.â he was being cryptic, more so because he knew she knew the answer--- only basing it off of what she had said to him shortly after she saved him from a few cuts and bruises.Â
nataliaxreyesâ
âvery. i may just request you suit up and join me for a reservation sometime. i think iâd like to see how you handle being a snobby, pretentious rich boy.â she teased, but actually, the idea did appeal to her. âdo you think they are as good at hiding as yourself? or as rare?â nat found herself wondering, what were his thoughts? had he met anyone like him? at least dragon wise she could say sheâd seen a handful, but his kind? no. he was her first and only. âyou say that with such submission. do i scare you, jax?â she was teasing, though it was also a question.Â
he shakes his head, thinking that was a hard pass. âiâd rather stick pins in my eyes.â sure he looked good in a suit, but everything else? no. he wouldnât be able to control himself. âthey havenât got a reason to hide.â he thought, anyway. it wasnât like they were hunted for being a cancer to their creator. âyou wanna see one just offer pretty virgins.â it sounded like he was joking, but he wasnât and even then, it was highly unlikely sheâd draw one out. âiâve seen more of them than my own kind.â there was only one and even then, weâre talking thousands of years ago. âscare me? â he deliberately thought about it, more for her benefit. âsure. anyone who can corrupt a mind is worthy.â she didnât scare him as such, he just knew his sanity was better by being on her good side.
persephoneofspringâ
âNo, I was in Italy though and was going through Pompeii a couple of days before the eruption that summer. Thatâs when I saw one of you guys. They were running a merchant shop. He was lovely, a little paranoid perhaps but nice enough.â Persephone recalled. âIâm sorry, I didnât catch your name⊠though if youâre like him, I wonât be offended if you donât want to tell me.â
there was a faint cock to his brow, only briefly, if you werenât looking you missed it. there was a time long before now where he used to know a small handful of his own kind, now? he thought he was the only one. it was better that way. âparanoid is understandable.â thereâs a small chuckle, it was like he got that. âitâs jax.â he didnât have a problem telling, not in this day and age. âprobably not as nice.â as the other, but hey, at least he was honest. âso whatâre you doing here? come to give flowers to the darkness?â he was teasing, obviously hinting at the end of the world doom hovering over.
persephoneofspringâ
âI⊠donât get much choice in where I sprout up.â She answered. Her guess was that a lot of focus was on this one specific spot and with demon activity that Hell let her out here. Why? She wasnât too sure. They never usually needed to watch her but she didnât ask questions either. âSometimes Iâm in Europe, sometimes Australia. Apparently this year Iâm in America.â
âsounds fun.â was he being sarcastic? yeah. more so at her telling him she didnât have much choice. for thousands and thousands of years he had been running, yet he still felt he had a choice whatever set location he revealed himself in. âwhen you were in pompeii-- was that by choice?â he was circling back to her last sighting of his species, but also curiously wondering if she had more freedom back then.
persephoneofspringâ
âAn honour.â She repeated. Persephone watched him shuffle, a subtle nod for her to take a seat which she wouldnât refuse. She adjusted her dress - god she couldnât wait to be back with her usual wardrobe - and looked back to him on his question. âOh, yes, sorry, that is terribly rude of me.â She realised how strange it must have been for her to just blurt out that she knew what he was with nothing about herself. âIâm the Goddess of Spring so all of these flowers and leaves will be blooming and green in no time.â
his brows knit together as he turns to look at her, thereâs even smirk on his features--- thinking she was having him on, but it was clear just as a few seconds went past she wasnât. â..and you just appeared there,â he looks towards where he had first noticed her and the flowers that previously surrounded her, âin the middle of kansas?â she had just asked where she was, so it was his assumption.Â
persephoneofspringâ
âI have.â She confirmed, choosing to walk a little closer to the phoenix. âI believe the last time I may have seen one of you was⊠around the time of the Pompeii eruption? As I said, a very long time ago. I had thought that you were extinct so it truly is an honour to know you are still alive.â
he continued to watch her as she moves closer, a flicker of interested could be seen briefly when she mentioned when she had last seen one of his own. he could sense she was old--- the prominent glow around her figure perhaps the first hinter, but he knew that time well, was she just as ancient as he? âan honour?â thereâs a faint chuckle, not having heard that one before. thereâs a small movement from him, a little shuffle along the bench he was sitting on, a silent offer for her to join him. âwhatâs your party trick then?â meaning she knew what his was.Â
