âwe are. i guess my algorithm is either flawed, iâm biased orâŚâ or maybe this means something. bailey didnât say it aloud though, instead, she felt herself blush. if anybody else even spent one minute with her and jaxon, she was sure theyâd throw up. the two grinned far too big at each other, and always sat so close, as if they physically couldnât have any distance between them. it was still relatively new, the pair of them, together. but bailey knew something, someone, special, when she saw it. âstop, i like it!â bailey said, with a light laugh, reaching up to tug his hands away. her hands cupped his face, before brushing up to his soft hair, smile still in place on her lips as she shook her head in amusement at jaxon.Â
âthank you.â she flushed red, looking down at said dress, and placing her head atop jaxonâs as he rested his head on her shoulder. their hands clasped together, fingers intertwining. this was a perfect night, in her opinion. âyeah, i⌠didnât know where else to pick, but in your application you said you liked the stars, so i thought it would be appropriate.â she said, still shaking her head at how she had been so dumb as to not guess that was jaxon. âi donât wanna be here with anyone else either.â bailey whispered out, turning her head slightly, as it lay on his still, to look at him. âoh gosh- i- i totally know. i was going to text you and say⌠something. i donât know what.â she laughed, clearly not having thought it through. âbut itâs okay, we both know it woulda been platonic, and- and for a good cause.â she told him, lifting her head up in order to pull the picnic basket closer, and open it. âbut now itâs even better because itâs not platonic but itâs- itâs still for a good cause.â bailey grinned, âare - are you hungry? i made some food. i hope you like it. i really tried to stay on the safe side, so anybody would like it.â
ââââ or maybe it is better than you thought!â his heart was racing at the idea of the results meaning more than just their answers being similar to eachother paired with a good computer software. he didnât dare to say it. after all they were still barely starting their relationship, and jaxon was so in love with the idea of love. his bias was so obvious for someone that always denies believing in fate. âi think i like yours a lot better, it fits you so well too. why did you pick it?â he scrunched up his nose ever so slightly as she played with his hair. it was weirdly relaxing whenever she did it, it made him feel reassured and accepted. not a bad thing at all, he wished sheâd do it more often.
he giggled softly. âitâs nothing, babe.â he felt so giddy all of a sudden. he missed feeling this happy and being with her. it had been a busy couple of weeks he hadnât had the time to stop, breathe or do anything that wasnât school related. it was more than nice to be able to do his favorite thing with his favorite person. âoh... i donât remember exactly what i wrote down. iâm pretty sure i was really vague though. but yeah, this is perfect, even if we hadnât ended up together the familiar place would have been good. it would have made everything better and iâ iâd have thought of you.â he said the last part almost in a whisper, tracing senseless patterns on her hand with his thumb. âi was planning on calling you afterwards to tell you everythingâ he said with a small laugh, âbut yeah, in the end it would have been fine. the swim team is worth it. besides, youâre right... we somehow ended up together, weâre supporting a good cause and weâre here now, thatâs all that matters.â he lifted his head from her shoulder to take a look inside the basket. all of it looked so good. if he wasnât that hungry before he definitely was now. âjust a bit, iâm sure iâll like anything you make though... do you want to eat now? just so that we can talk more afterwards.â
sometimes, the work rhea was involved in at the local animal shelter was more rewarding than she ever would have imagined it would be. there was nothing like the feeling of knowing she was doing GOOD - be it helping ease a new arrivalâs fear, or nursing them back to health, or actually getting them rehomed as was the dream for them all, and getting to watch them leave with their new owners, a spring in their step. it was amazing. and sometimes, it was difficult. but rhea had found that she could handle pretty much anything thrown her way, there - except the paperwork. it didnât matter what she was filling out - it was time consuming and boring and all around the worst, so when rhea heard the bell above the shelterâs front door signal someoneâs entrance with a melodious jingle from the tiny office, she practically hopped OVER the desk sheâd been sat at all afternoon to get out to the front desk before anyone else, and greet the newcomer with a huge, friendly smile. âhi! welcome to paws rescue-â her appearance into the reception space was none too graceful as she tripped over the plastic bin just inside the office door - but she took it in her stride, pretending that it hadnât happened and she wasnât frantically straightening up her work clothes, again, even as she gave them the rehearsed line, âare you here today to donate, adopt, foster or volunteer?â
jaxon could only stand there, as his mind tried to process everything he had just witnessed in less than a minute of him walking into the place; and how effusive the familiar girl seemed to be. it was weird... experiencing the other side, he was usually the one being overly warm and not the other way around. he blinked a few times when he realized he had been quiet for a little too long and gave her an apologetic smile, deciding to ignore everything he had just seen just like she seemed to be doing. âi... uh, do you guys sell dog food? i didnât realize i ran out of it and the store i usually go to is re-stocking.â he looked down behind him, his little dog roo shyly wagging her tail at the stranger. âi brought her so she could pick her favorite.â
âi mean⌠maybe itâs an unpopular opinion but shouldnât you love and appreciate your partner every single day? why is there just one day celebrating it?âÂ
ââââ if my memory doesnât fail me. iâm pretty sure it started as a religious celebration and just... became what it is today somehow.â a very faint shrug followed his words in an attempt to let the girl know that he didnât know much about that. âbut, the way i see it... valentineâs is just a day to cherish your partner the most. of course, you appreciate them every single day but i think itâs nice to have a day especifically for them, to celebrate the love you have for eachother and all that.â it didnât take jaxon too long for him to realize he had rambled a little too much. so he awkwardly cleared his throat and tried to hide the almost invisible blush from his cheeks. â...maybe thatâs just me though.â

forrestfull-bailey:
the voice that came back was soft, and familiar, and bailey took a few steps closer, trying to work out who it was. as soon as she stepped closer, her name left the personâs lips, and bailey immediately recognised who it was. the widest grin possible broke out on her face, and she couldnât help putting a hand up, to cover her face briefly, in surprise. âjaxon.â she was laughing then, shaking her head at herself, and taking quicker steps closer to him, still holding the basket of food in one hand. âi set myself up with my own boyfriend.â she was laughing yet again, almost in disbelief that of all the people, and the many applications sheâd gotten ⌠sheâd gotten herself with jaxon. she didnât know if maybe some part of her sub conscious had always known it was jaxon.Â
âspacejam?â bailey couldnât help repeating once she got closer to him, smile still evident on her face. âi like it.â she added, before ducking down and pressing a kiss to his cheek. the familiar smell of jaxon washed over her, and the smooth slide of her hand on his skin. everytime she saw him, she swear- she got a little bit happier. a little bit brighter. âyou- uh. you look really nice.â she said softly, lifting herself off his cheek, to chew on her bottom lip. âi.. didnât know where to put a date, but iâm kinda glad i chose the rooftop now.â bailey still couldnât believe her own dumb luck. she would have loved to spend time with anyone, of course, but the fact that she got to spend it with jaxon just made it that much better. âi didnât even know you were participating!â she said, collecting up her dress and sitting down next to him, shuffling closer already.
jaxon was practically beaming in his spot. his mind too busy processing that it was actually her to do anything else but stare at her in a mix of awe and disbelief... he was so happy, he couldnât believe it. some sort of lucky star must have been there, hiding in the nightsky and made his wish come true. âarenât we both really fortunate?â he mentioned playfully as he helped her with her basket. he was physically unable to wipe the smile off his face; as far as he was concerned though, there was no need to. it was a proven fact that his day just got ten times better just because this was happening.Â
he covered his face in embarrassment when he heard his codename for the second time. just a few days ago he had been giggling to himself at how much of a â comedic genius â he thought was. âoh my... itâs better when no one says it.â his smile got a tiny bit wider with the contact of her lips. he patiently waited for her to sit comfortably next to him before taking her hand in his. âthank you,â he leaned in to press small kiss on her cheek. âyou look gorgeous in that dress.â he said truthfully before resting his head on her shoulder. enjoying the warmth that was so hers and that he loved. âi was kinda surprised it was the rooftop, you know? since itâs kinda our thing, i didnât really want to be here with anyone else. so iâm really glad we ended up together.â he gave a soft squeeze to her hand, almost as if reassuring his own words with this action. âi wasnât going to do it at first, because weâre in a relationship and i guess it could be... kinda weird? but i wanted to support you.â

bailey had never been on the roof with anyone except jaxon before. however, it was one of her favourite places, and it seemed this person liked it too. she glanced down at her phone, half tempted to text jaxon, because she kinda missed him, before deciding sheâd have time to do so later. squaring her shoulders, she pushed open the door to the roof, already soaking in the stars, and warm air hitting her. it was nice. it always was. sheâd been so busy pairing everyone else up, bailey had almost forgotten entirely about setting herself up. she hadnât really thought sheâd put a questionnaire in. she had a boyfriend after all, and he was pretty much perfect, but it was for a good cause. and if she hadnât let wesley use that excuse, then it would be unfair for her to use it.Â
most applications sheâd pored over, trying to find out who was after what, and what date theyâd like to go on. when it had to come herself, sheâd just looked at what theyâd like to do on their date, because she found it was exactly what she wanted to do. look at stars. even platonically, stars were amazing. with her, she had a small picnic basket filled with some sandwiches and pasta sheâd made, as well as some cakes. who didnât like food, after all? she just hoped whoever this person was, they were nice. up ahead, on the roof, she could make out a figure, and she squinted, âspacejam?â bailey called out, feeling slightly silly.
it felt wrong. to sit there on their rooftop waiting for someone that ( at least to his knowledge ) wasnât bailey felt all kinds of wrong. because really... even if he wanted to fool himself into thinking otherwise. what were the chances of her being â starbright â? even if the codename itself was more than fitting for her... it was too much of a stretch. he didnât even know if she was going to be a part of the whole event since she was the one organizing it... in fact, he wasnât even going to be a part of it. until, at the last moment he decided heâd sign up for it just to support her cause. he sighed as he looked up at the sky. maybe he shoudlnât have gotten there so early. both his heart and mind were going a mile per second switching inbetween trying to figure out who could his partner be and hoping that whoever it was would at least be someone nice.Â
the wait was agonizingly slow. part of it was his own fault, since his anxiety caused him to get there a few minutes too early. he checked his watch for the fifth time in the last five minutes... it was almost time. he fiddled with the small box in his hands. would the gift be too much? what if they didnât like it? or if they thought it was weird? he pressed his lips together until the sound of the door opening put all his movements into a halt. he scrunched up his nose at his choice of codename, now that he heard it being called out it wasnât as fun as he thought it was. âyes?â he said softly, frowning at the familiriaty of the voice. taking a deep breath before slowly turning around. âare you starbâ bailey?â he asked with a bright smile, all his doubts dissipating instantly and leaving behind the peace that always came when they were together.
